Dr. Diana Desai is excellent. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and deserves high praise. Unfortunately, the office staff is a serious problem. I took time off work specifically for bloodwork, only to later find out the staff never sent the order to the lab. This resulted in wasted PTO, wasted gas, and a completely unnecessary trip. When this issue was brought up, the staff showed no concern or accountability. There was no apology and no sense that my time mattered. It is disappointing that such a great doctor is supported by staff who are careless and indifferent. The lack of follow through and basic respect for patients' time makes this office very frustrating to deal with. read more

I tried to give this place a chance, and it had failed tremendously twice. October 8, 2024 First time was an in person appointment: one was in training and was the trainer. I wasn't greeted. The trainer treated me as if I was a second class citizen and questioned my insurance as if it weren't good enough. I would have never came here if my insurance did not include this place. Yet, the patiences after me received top tier service. Her entire demeanor was disgusting. My appointment was for Dr. Tang and while she was informative, she gave 0 eye contact. That's extremely rude, especially as a new patient. If someone is talking to you or you're talking back to them, eye contact should be given. Her demeanor is very dry and monotone. She's not very personable. November 21, 2024 I had a televist appointment scheduled originally for 1130 but they moved it to 1115. I waited for over 30 minutes for Dr. Tang to sign in, and she never showed. When I called to see what was going on, they informed me that they would let her know. That time went by and at 1151 I was fed up. I called to get a refund of my money paid and now they're talking about 6-8 weeks. After I receive my money, they will never have to worry about me again. I have been Dr. Elhaj's patient since 2012. He helped manage my hypothyroid condition from diagnosis and through pregnancy. I love the convenience of the patient portal and the ability to use televisit. I have never had any issues with getting the needed bloodwork done. They automatically transmit the order to Labcorps. I usually confirm with Labcorps before I head into the lab. I am grateful for Dr. Elhaj's care. read more

Y'all. Believe the other reviews. This practice is so ridiculously unprofessional and shady. I went to see Dr. Elhaj and while the very first visit, he was extremely nice. Every visit with him and his staff is an entire nightmare. They are unprofessional, entitled, and honestly, you can tell these are minimum wage help staff, because they are all idiots. In addition, they want to recommend you to the "educator" and the "dietician" separately so they can bill you separately. This place is comical, at best. A -for effort but it didn't work out for me personally, nothing treated. I do have some diagnosis from previous doctor. This place might work for people who need,want a lot of blood test. I have underlying condition that can't do alot of tests. ( I also have so many tests done recently and previously). Also the lab refused to do what the doctor ordered so I'm not paying for that lab. Then if insurance is involved extra issues. Maybe just non compatible situations. If the doctor can't help first visit,charge a standard rate and say they can't help. Best to keep my patient records accurate and fair .Not inaccurate statement that patient refused, non compliance or similar really affect my care unfortunately......as I stated I have evidence and proof I have to be careful. I really felt stuck in the middle but it's the way the doctor finalized things was unprofessional and felt like I paid alot but not sure what just happened after many visits.also televisit and in person visit should be confidential and respectful. Final- I ended up needing corticosteroids it has helped me tremendously and limited my hospital and doctors visits, family having to call ambulance, and of course my overall well being has helped me stabilize at home. Shady billing practices - I last saw the Dr. in October 2018 and settled all my payments/deductibles at the time of my appointment. Three months later I received a bill of $300+, and after calling and insisting, they admitted it was their mistake for having billed my insurance wrong. Fast forward to April 2019, on a Friday at exactly 5:30 pm, and I get another statement saying that I owe $200+. No details or information, and obviously their office is closed so I am unable to communicate with them until Monday. Again, it was their mistake, but they would only admit to and fix the issue after I insisted over and over that they review their records. They have trained the front desk staff to derail calls about billing by saying random things, too, like I was told that it was "a problem with your student insurance"....I am not a student. They will just pick reasons that sound convincing and hope that people take the bait and just pay the amounts on the online portal instead of fighting it. Dr. Dumitru told me that a blood sugar of 46 was completely normal because I am a smaller/younger person. That is ridiculous. I even asked a second Endocrinologist his opinion and he completely agreed with me. This is dangerous information being given out, I am thankful I questioned this and did not go along with it. I also just received a $50 bill because they inserted and removed a dexcom for me back in 2017. (And as anyone who has a Dexcom knows it is not that hard to insert yourself) BUT I don't know why it took them a year to contact me about this bill when this is the first time I received an email about it. Also after looking through other reviews found that this was also the case for many other patients. - watch out for their billing department. Overall not a good experience. I went in there having read good reviews hoping to find a good doctor and did not have that experience. I am hoping this review saves someone else time and money. I am a little harder to treat because I am not a cut and dry case of regular diabetes so maybe she is good at treating more regular patients BUT if you have something that is out of the ordinary and are looking for an actual SPECIALIST...proceed with caution. read more

Would not recommend to anyone. I was only able to see Dr. Elhaj for a little over a year. The first visit was fine, he seemed normal. After that, each visit got worse. Every symptom I complained about, including common symptoms for endocrine issues like weight gain, hair loss, irregular periods, and excessive fatigue, he completely dismissed. All he did was read my lab work, decide it was fine, and ignore everything else. Based on his care, apparently all he learned in his years of practice was how to read lab results. Who knew endocrine issues were so easy? After my last horrible visit (which was a 2 minute phone call due to their technology for televisits being terrible), I was not only billed for a FULL IN PERSON VISIT, Elhaj rudely dropped me from his care with a curt letter two days later. Good riddance. I found a new endocrinologist who was able to diagnose me appropriately with just running routine labwork... apparently, some of my levels were not normal for a while. Elhaj was apparently too lazy to check anything. For a center that supposedly specializes in endocrine care, they are pretty terrible. It has been more than a year and I am still being harassed by their billing department. This place over charges and provides sub par care... read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. I went to Dr. Elhaj because of concerning lab results from my primary care physician regarding my thyroid and I wanted the opinion of a specialist. On the first visit, not only did a wait for an hour and a half to see the doctor (I was the only patient in the waiting room), Dr. Elhaj told me that the symptoms I was feeling were "highly unlikely" and made me feel like I was in an interrogation. He was condescending and lectured me for 10 minutes on taking unnecessary medication. He took me off the medication and asked me to take another blood test after 2 months off the medication and come back to see him. Fast forward 2 months, he walks into the room and say "Hi, Dr. Elhaj, nice to meet you. I hear you have some concerns about your thyroid." I then had to explain to him that I had been here two months prior, stopped taking my medication per his recommendation, had done a follow up lab and that he is supposed to compare the two labs. ROOKIE MISTAKE - he hadn't even looked at my chart or records before walking in the room. The appointment lasted another 5 minutes and I left $35 poorer with no useful information. I will NEVER go back to this practice ever again, clearly they hold themselves to very low standards as physicians and don't even care enough about their patients or reputation to even take a 10 second glance at the charts before walking in. Save yourself the long wait and the money, find yourself a good practice to go to. read more

Just terrible. Cold and have a placid demeanor. Would rather drag things out and order tests months out, than actually provide treatment. If you express any concern you might get a lecture about medical costs in the United States and how if everyone blah blah blah Dr.: Ok, we'll do a test now, and then in 3 months do another to get a baseline, with you continuing to take no medicine. Sound good? ~3 months later Dr: Ok, your results are all low, and sure, it's been over 6 months since you've taken any medicine for your "condition". But these results could be due to reasons. I mean, who's to say what "low" is. If you were 90 years old, these results would be fine. Also, it could take a year, maybe more, to see what your actual hormonal levels are at. Who knows? I came to the doctors here and I was not helped. They were afraid to treat me with aggressive treatment which I needed and wanted. I was tired of being hypothyroid. The doctors seemed smug. I gave them 3 months to get my TSH down and that didn't work so I moved elsewhere and within three months of seeing that doctor, I was better. I switched to Armour thyroid and it fixed me, This clinic doesn't prescribe Armour. They did not check my female hormones or my adrenal glands just like i asked. I really think doctors need to wake up. Patients are not stuck in the dark anymore. We can read things online and we know things. They should take the time for us to help but instead they do not. They just push their ideas on you treating you like an idiot. read more

Unimpressed. My endocrinologist retired and I knew all the meds he prescribed and felt better taking them. All I got was one of the scripts. As a 51 year old adult, I know my body. I am very well educated ( 2 advanced degrees) and I do my research. If I say this is what I took and I felt better I am serious and I expect to be treated seriously and not like I have no clue what I am talking about. When the results were in, the doctor totally brushed me off. Trust me, I will find a doctor that will listen to me and address my issues and not tell me to go to a primary doctor and just watch my diet and exercise. Granted I may need to do that, but that is not all. I need the scripts my former doctor prescribed because HELLO I felt better on them and I feel like crap now. Staff was disrespectful and rude. Tried to see dr Jogi in the past but after 2 months waiting for an appt and 1:35 hours waiting in the office I just asked the rude front desk lady to refund my visit payment and gave up on waiting. I have asked couple times about Doctor schedule and on the first 15 wAit was told "on time". Without any apology or any respectful act from anyone in that office full of rude and inconsiderate staff I asked they to cancel my payment and left the office very very frustrated!!! After 1 hour and 35 minutes of wait! I saw the whole office getting empty and full again 2 times! Unfortunately I can't tell about the Doctor because didn't meet him...but after reading all reviews about the terrible officer/manager I feel better that I'm not the only one. Since we always need to speak with the office staff and nurses doesn't matter in the end how good is the doctor if we can't reach him. Doctors should be very caution about who is working for them. ***update: I received a certified letter in the mail with signature required from this doctor stating he is terminating our patient/physician relationship, but that I still needed care and should look for another doctor. I'll leave my opinion about that to your imagination. I'd also like to go on the record to say this doctor put me on medication and told me follow up in 3-6 months. I transferred my care to my PCP where she has already had to change my prescription that he put me on. Imagine if I had just been waiting months on a wrong prescription. -- This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a physician. I was specifically going in for management of my thyroid.Dr. Elhaj told me that my symptoms were not related to my thyroid since I was on medication and that I should see a psychiatrist for my depression. My lab results were available via LabCorp within 2 days. HTE didn't post my labs for over 2 weeks. They set me up with a "tele visit" the day before Thanksgiving at 4:45pm. I was online but the doctor never was able to connect. Instead of reaching out to me, they just chose to label me as a no show. After Thanksgiving, I finally met with the MD via televisit. He then tells me "yeah I had a hard time connecting with you last time it must be my computer" and ALSO "yes you have been over medicated and your symptoms are most likely do to this"Let's not throw in how difficult it is to actually talk with a person in the clinic and when you do, it's like you ruined their day by finally making it through to them. I need to be able to ask questions and get answers that I can understand but aren't so simple that I cannot do any research myself. 2. The doctor has to be smart and knowledgeable. Duhh, you say? How many docs out there just know the cookie cutter stuff, don't keep up with latest medical journals, etc?! 3. The doctor should really care about my health as be willing to think outside the box. This was my first time here but I saw a previous doctor from another practice. I've seen Dr. Juarez in Friendswood a few years ago. When she moved to the medical center, that was just a little far from where I live and work. Having thyroid issues recently and not feeling comfortable with just any doctor, I decided to see Dr. Juarez again. I'm so glad I did! Dr. Juarez is so compassionate, friendly, and takes the time to go over everything. I feel so comfortable with her and I would recommend her to anyone! I parked next door and took the elevator to the sky bridge. I had to walk down the hall to take the escalator down then around the corner to another set of elevators to take me to the 22 floor. I did notice that I could have valeted right in front of where I needed to be. I might do that next time. But the walk from the garage was not bad at all. Took all of 4 minutes. When you arrive you sign in at an "iPad station". Then you swipe your credit card for your co-pay. The nurse/aid was pretty friendly. I had a 2:30 appointment and arrived at 2. Strictly business practice, uncompassionate treatment. Please go elsewhere. I was asymptomatic and had normal lab results, but was ordered by Dr. Elhaj to have extra costly tests and appointments. Luckily I was able to cancel the iodine uptake test (which involves ingesting radiation) after I noticed all my labs were normal. I was ordered to get my blood drawn again. The office scheduled a follow up televisit appointment, which I did not confirm and could not cancel before I got my lab results back without receiving a fine. The doctor told me through malfunctioning televisit that my labs were (again) normal and essentially billed my insurance company a level 3 visit (and full co-pay) for information that a medical assistant or nurse could relay. Communication with the office is completely electronic, which can be difficult and certainly impersonal. It is very tedious as a new patient to get set up and schedule an appointment with their system. Their YouTube channel has 20+ instructional videos on how to communicate with them. The practice is aware of my negative experience and has unfortunately declined the opportunity to amend the situation. read more

I am new to Houston, work in Greenway, near the Medical Center I've heard lots of positive things about. I am Type 1, late diagnosis (6 yrs ago) and had been seen at Joslin in Boston since diagnosis. During the move, my insulin and levemir levels have run down and it was about time I saw an endo and established a routine down in Houston. My A1C's have always been around 6.0 but it was about time to move on from the great Joslin. We chose this office due to good reviews and proximity. Started with no availability for a month or so (going back a couple weeks) so I said, "thank you but no thank you, I need medicine / prescriptions" (why do they run out every year or so??). Anyway, the assistant told me to hold and found a slot for me weeks and weeks earlier all of a sudden (odd....). Couple weeks go by and I head over to office. Being fair I was 5-10 minutes late for the apt (not used to Houston traffic just yet!). Waited in the waiting room about 20-25 min and then was told by assistant, "the Doctor would like you to come back another day...please go get blood work done and come back later". What if I need medicine stat? What if I had a job that was not flexible? To that end, imagine I took 1/2 a day or the entire day OFF for this office visit? Anyway, I've rambled too much. 1-star. Really zero. Zero as I never met the doctors, but it was the assistant's exact words, "Dr. Juarez would like you to make another apt and come back another day". Must be nice for her to just tell folks c'mon back another time, that are literally sitting in her lobby with an appointment. WAY TOO MANY ENDOCRINOLOGISTS in the area. I wouldn't waste time here. I have been a patient here for about two years. I am very satisfied with the level of service I receive. My doctor is very nice and professional. She really listens to my concerns and doesn't just rule things out. I went two 3 other doctors before coming here. All of the other doctors made me feel like I was crazy. The facility is always so nice and clean. The parking is easy and I hardly ever have to wait in the waiting room before seeing my doctor. One time they called me saying they were behind schedule and j could reschedule or come in later. It was nice they gave me a heads up so I didn't just have to wait forever in the waiting room. I also really enjoy the online portal. If I have a concern with my medication or appointments I can email my doctor or reschedule through the portal. Very convenient! Overall, I am so glad I decided to come here! I have yet to be disappointed. read more

I must say this medical specialist centre is so organized. (Very Informative, fancy website with online chat team available, parking instruction is given, 2 different medical centre's location maps are given). I'm a new patient, so to fill up the few pages new patient form wasn't a big concern for me as I understand they must have this policy to facilitate the services. I looked up couple endocrinologist specialist but all are either fully booking or they doesn't accept new patient. So, I guess I was lucky enough because of one of their patient cancelled today's appointment and this how I get scheduled so quick without wait until the next availability which is in mid Jan. I printed out the location map and parking instruction (just in case I get lost in Downtown), and my appointment is schedule at 09:00am and I reached the clinic suite at 08:30am. Parking is not as bad as I though it was because they mentioned parking are really difficult to find in that building. Well, I missed the self-parking entry and I went for valet (which is ok & reasonable $14). Upon enter to the clinic, greeted by their receptionist with smile and Christmas jazz music atmosphere, I was totally feel relief and easy feeling. (Trust me, I been to few clinics and medical centers here and what I see was only miserable face and doesn't bother to say Hi to you. Even though when they said "how you doing?" .. I personally fell like this is part of their job but not from their heart). I went in for blood pressure measuring, vitals checking before 09:00, and Dr Elhaj came in at 09:20. I'm happy with Dr Elhaj, he seem so friendly and humorous type of Dr, spent his time to explain the cause and referring me the to-do's suggestion. I had consultation, checking, ultrasound, bloodworms and biopsy done in less than 2 hours, I must said I'm very impressed and appreciate their efficiency during this visit. Everything was excellent except the blood works, she look a bit rushy, rough and when she pulled out the needle, she scratches my arm. Is not serious, but I hope she can be gentle and make patient feel comfortable while doing the blood works. At last, I hope their excellent service is consistency and I'm looking forward to see Dr. Elhaj when the result is ready in 2-3 weeks later. Dr Dumitru was great, but Houston Thyroid and Endocrine Specialists has recently changed how they operate, and they're making a hard push towards online-only scheduling and updates. Now when you call, the phone recording tells you to visit their website and doesn't provide an option to speak to anyone. Their website is provided by eclinicalworks.com, and it's absolutely terrible. I have scheduled a few appointments online, and the system will occasionally lose the request despite sending me a confirmation email. According to them, the lost requests never show up on their computer. They need a reliable website before they start trying to force online-only scheduling and updates. Today was the last straw for me. Their office forgot to schedule my lab work, so I needed to call and speak to someone, which was impossible. I waited 5 minutes for someone to respond to "Live Chat", followed by another 10 minutes of typing back and forth before they said they'd forward the issue to staff. Apparently the person handling online chat isn't a medical professional or even a direct employee. It seems like they're just an online answering service that can't really do anything but confirm or deny appointments and forward messages. The doctor was nice and professional during my appointments, but Houston Thyroid and Endocrine Specialists is cutting too many corners in an effort to save money. read more

We scheduled an appointment with a doctor (and had a lot of bloodwork done) but were not told that she would be gone (planned job change) before our follow-up visit. There was not another pediatric doctor in the group, but allegedly they had someone review the results and conclude that all was fine. 18 months later, a different, non-endocrinologist physician briefly looked over those same results and immediately diagnosed my daughter. Almost two years wasted when she could have been treated for the condition they said was not there. If I could give negative stars I would. Stay away. read more

The only positive here is Dr. Dumitru. She's personable and doesn't rush you via office or televisit. That being said - I don't know if she or the office or who schedules her day, but for my first televisit- I was def frustrated when I got a call from the office saying she was running over 30 mins late. It was frustrating bc I wasn't waiting in an office for her, I was in my car in between appointments and it was very inconvenient for me. The point of the virtual communication through patient portal and televisit, is to ensure better clinical care for patients and better communication , per their recorded message you get when calling the office) - super inconvenient bc I like most people - already have a full schedule during the day- and had to completely move things around the following day to review my healthcare results. I absolutely dislike the correspondence through "patient portal" only. I've been contacting them since Monday regarding matters that were supposed to be taken care of Friday with no response from the portal. Forget getting any real person on the phone when you call. FYI in 2017, the ONLY means of communicating will be through patient portal. Also FYI. If you need lab work - prepare to be inconvenienced bc you will have to do this on your own at a separate location, bc there is no onsite lab there. So apparently portal communication and offsite labs are a new trend- at least at this office. I'll keep it brief and leave you with this for now. After being severely misdiagnosed for almost a year as having hypothyroidism by another endocrine "specialist", I made an appt. with Dr. Jogi. I only had to wait 5 minutes before being led to a private room and only 5 minutes after that, he entered. He was kind, attentive and had a very calm, soothing bedside manner. He pulled up my records on the in-room monitor (faxed from the other doctor) and showed me that I NEVER had hypothyroidism, my numbers had always been at perfect levels before AND DURING my very-frequent visits to the other doctor. Dr. Jogi even pointed out that the other doctor had run a test on me that had been deemed inaccurate since 1975. Dr. Jogi asked questions, listened to me, then said he would run his own blood tests and call me. The very next morning I got his call and he said all my thyroid levels were NORMAL and I didn't have to return to him. He is an excellent doctor: correctly diagnosing my condition and not causing harm for profit, like the other doctor did. read more

Stay away from this medical practice. I waited a month and a half to see Dr. Jogi. I was excited that I was finally going to receive proper treatment for my thyroid disorder. Dr. Jogi sent me a message one week before the appointment, asking if there were any concerns. The appointment was for a televisit, but I wasn't sure if it would be over the phone or on video. I responded and let him know that I didn't have a webcam. He didn't respond to my reply, so I assumed everything was okay. Fast forward to the day of the appointment and I realized I would need a webcam. I called the front desk office to request a refund. The person I spoke to attempted to reschedule, but the next available day was in October, which is three months away. I decided I just wanted a refund. That's when I was told I would have to pay a $50.00 cancellation fee. I didn't cancel the appointment, Dr Jogi failed to inform me that a webcam was required. It was the doctor's fault because he didn't read my reply. What was the point of asking if I had any concerns, only to ignore my reply? Presently I'm still waiting to receive a refund that they are supposedly putting in the mail. I paid by credit card, so I don't understand why they are mailing a check. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's over a yr ago via high antibodies, goiter, low thyroid levels. My ENDO retired was hoping to find a new one. Been on medication and maintains my normal thyroid levels for a few months now. According to this asshole, Dr. Elhaj, it is the placebo effect and I'm imagining my weight loss of 24 lbs, energy, nails no longer having ridges, my eyebrows growing back, severe constipation cure(that was so bad at one point I needed radiation treatment to shrink the impaction) and according to him I have imagined it all and giving me my already prescribed thyroid medication would make him a pill pusher!?! The right side of my thyroid is double the size of my left and this idiot tells me it's an anatomical difference. Dr. Jogi is awesome. He is very personable and knowledgeable. I really liked that he offered some holistic care options for my condition in addition to medications. I feel I can trust him to make good decisions about my care. He had a two week wait and I had a medical emergency. Even though I was a new patient, they double booked me and had Dr. Jogi see me at 7:20 a.m. Incredible service, nice new offices. I would highly recommend them. read more

My review is going to be prety much in line with that of "S T." on 8/14/2013. I visited their office not long after she did and I left feeling pretty disappointed in the level of expertise the doctor had. I'm not saying that it's a bad practice. I think they mean well, but they're young and their knowledge is very narrow and limited. If you come in there with anything out of the ordinary, they simply don't know what to do with you. This place is fine if you have a common, everyday problem like diabetes or a moderate thyroid problem. Otherwise, you're better off going somewhere with more experienced docs who have the know-how and confidence to handle a challenge. They're nice people and all, but I think they prefer to keep things simple, get their paychecks and go home. They aren't in the business of tackling complex issues. read more

Attempted to make an appointment, but your only allowed to make one AFTER you've filled out the new patient form online. Page 2 states that there is a $100 technology fee that you MUST pay to be seen by the doctors. Oh, and it's not covered by insurance(because why would they cover a made up charge). So I called them, and the rude girl on the phone stated its mandatory and there is no avoiding it. So basically i'm trying to schedule an appointment for just blood work, but your going to MAKE me pay $100 out of pocket, not including what the heck my insurance doesn't cover. Stupid.
