They are the absolute BEST diesel mechanic shop in Bakersfield. Just recently got the Yelp app so this post reflects my experience with Hoven Repair Shop from a year ago. Days before leaving for vacation, my 2012 Ford began to leak, possibly from a coolant turbo line. The dealership (Jim Burke) said they couldn't get to it until three days later. I go to Hoven's ( First time Ever). Despite they found the leak was from the EGR, Brian and his team worked on it during and all weekend to get me on my way. Great work and great guys!!! read more

Unbelievablly great people. Incredible prices and they stand by their work. They saved me from several nightmares. Use them. Holy smokes. Check out their Google reviews. 15 out of 15 people rated them 5 stars for a dang good reason. I didn't think people like this existed anymore. They took out and dropped an engine in my desiel truck and explained everything in layman terms to me. They blew the competitions price out of the water which really saved my hiney to begin with. All the while they communicated with the parts store I had bought the engine from. When the turbo failed (luckily under warranty), they put a new one in from the parts place...which didn't work. So they communicated with the parts place and got another one, which was the wrong model. They finally convinced the parts place to get me a new one, ordered it and are going to drop it in essentially for free because the parts place won't pay them to do it twice even though it wasn't at all Hoven's fault. These guys are saints. They didn't charge me a cent for the extra FOURTEEN HOURS of labor to remove and install the new turbo. I don't know how these wonderful men did this but I am forever grateful. read more

If I could give this shop more than 5 stars, I would. My truck broke down on I5 _many_ miles from home. I was stranded and none of the usual roadside diagnostics or parts swapping worked. My old diesels truck (1995) needed a high-pressure oil pump, which Hoven found, brand new not rebuilt, with some friends he knew in Porterville (who were also great people.) One of his other customers, a retired oil field worker, was kind enough to give me a lift to Porterville, and we returned at maybe 4:30-5PM or so that evening. Hoven and his men had my truck roadworthy before they went home that night! I really can't say enough positive things about Hoven's Automotive. IMO, if you need your truck repaired in Bakersfield, this is _the_ place to go. Really, though I hope never to require their services again so far from home, if I ever break down again within a hundred miles, this shop will absolutely be my first choice. I can't even _imagine_ finding anyone more knowledgeable, more experienced, anyone with a greater understanding of the available parts or available parts vendors, or even finding a more honest, decent, and generous soul.
