Howard Amon Park is such a great place to spend the day in Richland. It sits right on the Columbia River, so you can do all kinds of water activities like kayaking, boating, or even jet skiing. There's tons of open space for picnics, barbecues, or just hanging out by the water, and areas to play games like volleyball. Kids will love the play area and the nearby Richland Rotary Beach too. What I also liked is how close it is to restaurants and coffee spots--just a quick 5-10 minute walk if you want to grab food or drinks. Overall, it's a really nice park with something for everyone. Howard Amon Park is a wonderful park in Richland, with a prime location and amenities for the whole family. It's no surprise that during our time here, Howard Amon Park served as a gathering space for all the locals. We visited Howard Amon Park a few times as it's located along the Columbia River Trail with many different amenities here for multiple activities. There are many playgrounds, a small wading area for kids, water fountains, bathrooms, dog poop bags, benches, BBQ grills, and the best part - swimming docks. On those sunny days, Howard Amon Park is a great place to hang out in and cool down with a swim in the Columbia River. Howard Amon Park is located in the downtown area of Richland, walking distance to many businesses and lodging options. It's easy to find, with parking available as well as street parking that's easy to find. For some outdoor space that's in Richland, this is where to recreate. read more

Love walking this path along the water. So relaxing. Very cold and brisk in winter mornings. But it feels amazing.

This is a really nice park and I was so happy to have chosen a hotel room right next door. It's great for a long walk, as the trail seems to go a considerable distance in both directions. It is also a nice place to sit on the waterfront and look out at the river, it seems like the grass would be great for bringing a picnic. I really like the swinging park benches and feel like I have not seen these too many other places, they are a good place to sit down and relax for a moment while taking in the view. We had the pleasure of seeing some very cool full rainbows on our visit that made this park seem even more magical. This seems to be a popular place for a family get together or other event. It was quite popular on the weekend we visited. There is a wading pool that had me wishing I had small children to take to it. Some playground structures too. I really just liked the high energy this place seemed to have, everyone seemed to be having a good time. So much to do and something for nearly every interest. read more

Great park! Disappointing that the outdoor cornhole game had 8 same colored sandbags?!?!? How is one supposed to play two player?

This park and I go WAY back. Love what they have done with the kids play area, and just enjoy sitting under one of the many large shady trees here. The Tri Cities is lucky to have such a nice park in such a great locale. All the great fesitvals and event that happen here are fun too, but my favorite thing is to just go with some lunch and just listen to the stories the trees tell as the breezes blow through the branches. I also enjoy meeting all the doggies that come visit. read more

This is such a beautiful park! Having lived in NYC and spent one year and 1/2 running in central park i shouldn't really be impressed with our humble park here, but i am. It is clean, pretty, well designed (perhaps a future expansion could be similar to Stanley Park in Vancouver Canada - 2 paved lanes - one for bikers and the other for runners, walkers) We should be proud of it with it's great playground, it's gazebos offering barbecues, shade and seating. Very beautiful park, well maintained and there always seems to be something going on! There is a trail that goes along the Columbia River and several little places were you can swim and hang out. Lots of picnic tables but I still think they need more lots of benches along the pathway. Playgrounds with little zip lines, a kiddie pool that is always packed, lots of seminars and festivals here in the summer, Jet ski, Kayak and bicycle rentals and a few cute little food stands I have never used any of them but they always seem to be very busy! If you are visiting the area there are a couple of hotels up the road that are very nice and have great access to the park. Since this park is one of our favorite things to do in the Tri Cities we always make sure we stay as close to the park as possible! One down fall for the park is parking always seems to be an issue so arrive early if you plan on hanging out all day or prepare to walk a ways if you show up latter especially when they are busy. read more

"What's there to do here [Tri-Cities]?", she asks. "Ummm....", I scratch my head, look skyward a few seconds for divine enlightenment, and then, "Wow. Dang. I don't know." There's a pause of 58 seconds while I try to think of options. "Oh, there's the park! Yeah, let's go to the park in Richland." I can't recall how many times this has happened to visitors of mine while they were here. Me, trying to be a decent host, and TRYING to give props to my crib, always seem to go through this dilemma. Howard Amon Park has always seemed to bail me out though. Going to the parking lot on Lee is my favorite starting point, trailhead if you will. Here is a cool playground, the Richland Community Center, some tennis courts, and a cool dock. But my favorite: the walking trail. I always seem to go downriver from here. I like to take my dogs (with "visitors" sometimes) down the trail. We generally make it to the I-182 bridge where the trail ends. One can actually go past the gate here, and check out "Columbia Point" for a more "off-road" experience. Yup, I think I need to go down that way and explore that area more---before tick season starts. I just need to become more of a Howard Amon Veteran! read more

Probably the best park around. We go way out of our way to visit this park. The playground is awesome for the kids. There are miles and miles of trails to go along, the river is great to look at and maybe swim in, there is plenty of grass and the big trees are awesome. This place also hosts many cool festivals that are worth going to. Art in the Park, and another music festival that has good food, along with face painting for the kids. And rarely do you feel like there are too many people there. In fact, there has been some times where it has just been our family there. Oh yeah...looking for a pool that is friendly for the little kids (some 2 feet deep at it's deepest), then go here. Very, very cool. Finally, I am glad they finally covered the hole at the top of the playground. There was a hole that kids were just supposed to climb through on a tire climb thing...but I suspect many a kid just fell 15 feet through the tires. Glad that got rid of that. read more

Park runs along the Columbia River and includes a band shell, playground, sculptural elements, paved multi-use trail, tennis courts, dock, and a large, new community center...probably other stuff I didn't see too. Although I was traveling and didn't have my bike or kayak with me, there are rentals of both very nearby. I saw rollerbladers, cyclists, walkers, joggers, doggers, and kids all hanging out and having a good time. Struck me I'd find it semi-zen to pedal along fast between the river and the sky like that. I did an aerobics class at the Richland Community Center, decent sound system for calling out moves, and looking out over a river through the big floor-to-ceiling windows made the workout a lot more pleasant. Fellow exercisers and the instructor had a sense of humor about it all...can't complain about that. read more

Beautiful clean shaded park what more do you need? A mighty river with a trail? It has that too! Parking isn't the best but There's always a spot. Playground is suited for toddlers and older kids. There's a rock climbing wall and a zip line. Zip line is out of commission- not sure what's going on but my kids skip it most the time anyways. The benches are swings and are comfy. Richland parks and recreation needs a round of applause because they really do their job and do it well. read more

Very beautiful park, theirs a long trail that goes all along the Columbia River. I have been going there recently to play Pokémon Go and around 5 pm it's not too crowded or noisey. Very scenic and plenty of benches along the way when your feeling tired from walking. I have been going here since I was a kid and it's a nice getaway. I love this park.....There are great toys that my kids love playing on even the climbing wall. In the summer they even have a kids pool which is nice to cool off in, and doesn't cost anything. We also love walking along the river which we have to stop at all the swing benches to swing before we get to move on :-). We also like taking sand toys down to the river and the kids love playing in the rocks/sand collecting rocks/shells. They also have nice big covered areas which is nice to rent out for a party or get together. read more

I love this park, tennis court and kayak rental . Loads of festival here in summer, my favourites are Tumble weed and the boat race. There are also bicycle rentals at a responsible rates jus across the road and don't forget to visit the near by Roaster coffee where you can pick up a Americano for $2 read more
