This doctor has the call attendant ever. I wanted to book an appointment for medical check up and she was very rude from the beginning of the call. As if she is obliging me by answering the calls. I asked her if she can wait for a second till I look up for something and she said no, she cannot wait and she hung up. Best Doctor in New Jersey!!! I use Dr. Weiss as my covering doctor for my kids when their pediatrician is unavailable. My kids are rarely sick, so we go to the pediatrician (Dr. Howard Schlacter) really only for well visits. My mom, my sister, and my best friend also use Dr. Weiss as their PCP. We are all very pleased with him as a doctor who really listens to you and figures out what you personally need. You aren't "just a number" in his office. Additionally, I appreciate all doctors who can think outside of the box. Dr. Weiss understands the importance of not over-prescribing antibiotics. I believe he only writes a script when it is absolutely necessary and his tool-belt is a little larger than most doctors because he uses homeopathic remedies too. Last night, I called him because my daughter had a very high fever. He recommended a homeopathic remedy that brought her fever down very quickly. I found Dr. Weiss after a long search for a doctor that I felt comfortable with for me and my family. During my first visit, I remember him asking me to sit down and talk prior to my examination. I was a little surprised by this because my experience with prior doctors usually entailed waiting for hours, followed by an additional wait in the exam-room; once the doctor came in, we had brief 'conversation' followed by a brisk handshake and a prescription in hand. Dr Weiss talked to me about how I was doing, what I had going on at work and home and he took notes along the way. I found this to be very relaxing and comforting; moreover, I found it to be nurturing. His integrative approach to treatment always starts with natural approaches before any pharmaceuticals are considered; approaches for me have included vitamins, herbs, homeopathy, relaxation, exercise and lifestyle adjustments. The office staff needs to be praised as well! Waiting times are rarely an issue; probably because he and his staff build the extra time he spends with patients into the appointment schedule. Even when the office is clearly busy with emergencies, the wait time is never anything to complain about. Dr. Weiss has been my physician for 20 years. His ability to diagnose the physical as well as the psychological when need be, has always been on point. His knowledge and use of alternative therapies has been to my advantage, not being overloaded with unnecessary drugs. He has taught me much over the years regarding my health. The extra mile is nothing for him, calling me to check up on my progress, to offering to make a home visit. He had been and is my safety net on many levels. I appreciate all the positive reviews of Dr Weiss and I wish I had had a good experience too. But I had a bad experience, not with the doctor per se but with the receptionist and admin side. We had provided our insurance information before coming for the appointment and had been told that the visit would be covered by our insurance. When I arrived and gave my insurance card the receptionist said I had to pay $300 for the visit (which is not unreasonable actually had I not thought I was covered by my insurance and had brought such funds with me). Her precise words upon seeing my insurance card were, "What is this?!!!" She wasn't rude exactly but it was like I just handed her a turd. It turned out that I had been entered as a Medicare patient, their error, and while my insurance should cover the appointment, they felt they hadn't checked into it enough so she said my only option was to pay $300 up front. I did speak briefly to Dr Weiss who happened to be there and he explained (as did the receptionist) that they needed to research my insurance so my appointment was cancelled. Dr Weiss seemed okay but it did seem like there was some kind of admin problem going on for the receptionist. Considering that I had to make a very big effort to be there for the appointment and rearrange other things (such as my work!) that is not okay to cancel my appointment like that. Considering that it was Dr Weiss' office's mistake perhaps some flexibility could have been in order: the receptionist could have researched the insurance while I had my appointment and I could have even given them a credit card as a back up if they were concerned that I might stiff them on the fee. But the receptionist said, in front of Dr Weiss, that she was very busy and so couldn't take the time to make the calls about my insurance until later in the day. It was very cold treatment, and so unlike what others have reported. Can I point out that I'm quite sick and it was extremely hard for me to transport myself to the appointment? I probably could have rolled with it all if I weren't so ill and if I hadn't have had to make so much effort in general to be there. BTW, being a morning appointment, no one else was there. There was absolutely no impediment to Dr Weiss seeing me, it was not like I was delaying anyone with a snafu over insurance. But what am I saying??? I am acting like I was somehow an inconvenience to Dr Weiss and co. No I'm not, they made an error which I totally understand can happen, but the problem is that they didn't handle the situation very well and horribly inconvenienced me. read more
