Castaway Point Park is a small park sitting on a peninsula between the Indian River Lagoon and the…read moremouth of Turkey Creek. While it may not be as big as some of the other area parks it has been recently renovated and the location makes this a standout spot for water based recreational activities. This park was also a favorite spot of the Native Americans and early settlers who once lived here. Recent improvements to the park include hardening of the shoreline with rocks, new north observation pier, a new boardwalk connecting the north and south pier, and new decking for the south observation pier. Other park amenities include a concrete walkway, fishing piers with fish cleaning stations, benches, pavilions which can be rented, picnic tables, grills, kayak/canoe launch, and restrooms. This park has one of the only natural beaches on the Indian River Lagoon. Many people visit this park to fish from the piers and beach. I loved it for the stunning river view and the diverse bird life it attracts. I saw anhinga, great blue herons, and egrets. If you are lucky you may even spot a manatee or dolphin. I recommend coming here for an amazing sunset view.

It really is a cool park and provided a great spot to take a conference call and enjoy a peaceful water view. There were people wading in the water and others, like myself, were chilling and just enjoying the view. Again, it is not a large park, but Castaway Point Park seems to be a hidden gem in Palm Bay. This in itself is a good thing as it is always amazing to find these little known places in the course of my travels. They had a building housing rest rooms and the park itself was well maintained. I truly enjoyed my time here at Castaway Point Park and I will definitely return to this cool park when I am in the area. I would definitely recommend Castaway Point Park and I give it five stars.

Satellite Beach is a small coastal city on a barrier island in Brevard County, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana River. Pineda Beach takes its name from the original mainland village of Pineda, which was established in the 1890s. The town was located a few miles inland along the Florida East Coast Railway near present-day Suntree. Developers E.C. and Anna Dearborn surveyed and subdivided the community in November 1894, making it one of the earliest settlements in this part of Brevard County. The area's military history is equally significant. What is now Patrick Space Force Base began as Naval Air Station Banana River in 1939, serving as an anti-submarine patrol and training base. During World War II, this stretch of coastline was actively monitored to protect against German U-boats operating off the Atlantic coast. In the 1970s, Brevard County completed the four-lane Pineda Causeway (State Road 404), which spans the Indian River and Banana River. The causeway provides direct access to the barrier islands, Patrick Space Force Base, and the surrounding beaches, making Pineda Beach much more accessible. Today, Pineda Beach is known for its uncrowded wide, white sand shoreline and typically calm surf. Amenities include free parking with approximately 35 spaces, an outdoor rinse shower, a covered picnic pavilion with a table, and a boardwalk that crosses the dunes through native coastal vegetation before reaching the beach. There is no lifeguard on duty, so visitors should swim at their own risk. A life ring is available for emergencies. If the parking lot is full, don't worry because there are several other public beach access points just a short drive up or down the coast.

Not Dog Friendly There is one female restroom and one male restroom Still a lovely visit and I do love that Satellite Beaches are a hop, skip, and jump from the parking lot. Cocoa beach beaches to parking lots at least the ones we have been to are quite far. I think I would return to this beach again. I was happy that the restrooms and shower were conveniently available.

I still love the beach when I want to go to the beach. Luckily I know people that live near the beach so we park at their place and walk down to the beach. I've grown a very nice seashell collection from this beach. There are a few spots here and there along the beach that also great for a hangout if you want to be near the beach. Just beware of the parking meters if you don't know people who live in the area.

Although Ocean Park is smaller in size than other are beach parks, it does have two large beach volleyball courts, an outdoor shower, a few picnic tables situated under shady palm trees, restrooms and my favorite part, inviting bench swings where you can relax and catch the beach breezes. I live in Broward County where everyone has to pay for beach parking but through my travels throughout Florida I have learned that many other counties offer free parking to locals and visitors. I was surprised that Melbourne Beach charges a parking fee. Make you sure you pay because I saw the parking enforcement circling on golf courses at all of the beach front parking. Melbourne Beach instituted an increase of 50 cents on July 1st so now it is $3.50 an hour. Not terribly expensive but more of an inconvenience to remember to make sure you do not over run your time.

During the Air Show dates in mid April, you can enjoy the dozens of planes that fly around the area. The easiest way to get here is to drive north on A1A from SR404 since the free parking lot is right on your right..if you are coming from Cocoa Beach, you can get in the median and drive over to the beach side for parking. A really nice, unspoiled beach....not too busy as some of the other ones closer to Cocoa Beach downtown.
