Always Fresh , Great Friendly Staff , The only Donut Shop for me . Try to get there as often as I can

My husband went at 6:00am to Howard's to surprise me with fresh chocolate glazed donuts since I had throat surgery and have problems eating. He got home with them they were hard and no glaze on them just chocolate. Had to heat them up to just make them soft. Manager stated just bring them back he would replace them. I'm tired of getting left overs. Check them before you leave! read more

Love this place. This is my guilty pleasure. They have the best old fashioned cake donuts. The apple fritters are the bomb. I would have one everyday if I could but I can't because I want to live past 43! Service can be slow sometimes. The staff is friendly but talkative. Best donut place in Memphis, and yes I mean better than Gibsons! I know many Memphians will hate me for that comment but hey it's my opinion right? They are the only donut place I have found that does the cake style donut with frosting and sprinkles. The real thing, not a glazed donut with frosting and sprinkles. It needs to be dense cake and this is. They are delicious. The other donuts- glazed twist are good too but this one is what keeps me coming back whenever I am up this way. i have to agree w/ criistina H's review. they are always in the coupon books. that is how we stumbled upon this place. love the drive thru for late nights when i'm craving donuts but looking like a bum and don't want to get out of the car. my family gets their boring typical powdered sugar and glazed donuts and they're fans. but i always get the pumpkin and the red velvets. everyone always talks & raves about gibson's red velvets but i think howard's red velvets are just as good. read more

One of the things I miss about Memphis is Howard's Donuts. Their blueberry jelly was just as delicious as I remembered. The lady and college aged man at the counter were friendly and my family enjoyed talking to them. They greeted a couple of customers as they came in by name. It says a lot about their customer service that they've made the effort to learn the regular cutomers' names. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Memphis so I can stop in and treat myself again. read more

Great selection of donuts and the staff always manages to be courteous AND fast. I'm not sure if any other establishment in the area can make that claim! Their donuts are tasty, coffee is good and hot with plenty of creamers to choose from, and you can get a dozen day old donuts for two bucks with tax. read more

I love Howard's! I've been coming here for years before church, as a kid with my parents and now as an adult with my fiancé. I always get the original glazed doughnut and David gets the chocolate. On top of the great food the staff is always nice and the drive through is fast. You'll really appreciate that if you are always late like me. read more

Stopped by here during a family trip. Donuts were great (esp the red velvet one)...however, the customer service was horrendous. None of the three workers would smile and they were far from courteous. Created an atmosphere of wanting people to get their donuts and get out. Next time we're in town, we will opt for the drive-thru. read more

Went in today with my kids to get an afternoon snack. The long haired, guy with glasses behind the counter informed me that he would not be able to wait on us right now because he was real busy. I could tell he was filling an order so I said ok we are not in a hurry. The he began yelling at the working in the back for cinnamon rolls. The worker said they were out then he yelled oh well the customer is "screwed" that exact term in front of my children. We were looking in the case, the then slammed the box around and slammed his phone on the counter. I told my kids we needed to leave immediately!! Never going back!! Horrible service, worker was definitely under the influence of some type of drugs read more

I have been a fan of Howards since moving here in 2010. The last two weeks we have gone in the morning on Saturday to pick up 1/2 doz on way to the farmer's market. The quality seems to have declined. The service is still great but like today had to repeat our order several times and when we opened the box the donuts were smashed together as if they had just been thrown in the box. Our favorite the maple bacon seemed a bit stale. I think we might wait a while before we visit again. read more

So disappointed in Howard's of late. It seems not only their quality and selection of doughnuts but also their service has steadily declined over the past year. Their fritters used to be beyond compare and are now just a waste of caloric intake. I think they are cutting corners wherever they can, as their caramel has turned from a deep brown into a lite creamy color? Recently went into Howard's Cordova on 8/30. My fiancé and I had a terrible experience as soon as we entered the door. There was black lady there around 40+ with a scarf on her head and as rude as can be while another guy (maybe her son) watched. My fiancé told her he wanted three cinnamon rolls however she went to grab all of the smaller donuts so he told her which ones he wanted. She responded by becoming upset and cussing under her breath while stating "we don't' do that here." "What you mean that's the one you want; they all look the same don't they?" I jumped in and told her that normally when we come to Howard's they never have an issue pleasing the customer and that he's telling her the specific donuts he wants because he's paying his hard earned money, right? This then got her quiet so I told my fiancé "Since they don't do that here then let's go elsewhere." She then told us to "Have a good one" Nothing was done to try and keep us as a customer. Something as petty as just picking the donuts he told her would have resolved this issue. Customer service is hard to come by and to be an older individual; you would assume she knew the theory of pleasing he customer first. I didn't tell her to work at a donut place all her life so why take the frustrations out on anyone else but your poor decision? This is why I will not eat at Howard's any longer! I came in here for my company to pick up donuts. What really pissed me off was the fact that I had purchased over $60 worth of donuts. I asked for some extra sausage rolls and I was told that this location only cooks 6 reg sausage rolls a day and that I had already gotten 4 with my every Friday order. I asked if she could make some more that I would wait. She said no. You already got 4 and you aren't getting anymore. As I was leaving I told them thank you for getting my order together. The girl said just another day and just another customer. I asked if I could get a ty for coming here and purchasing my $60 worth of donuts. She again replied nah just another day and just another customer. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Such horrible manners. Needless to say my boss is looking for another donut shop to get our weekly $60+ order of donuts. GET A NEW ATTITUDE CHICK!
