I have been diagnosed with several bone and joint related problems in my back that need surgery. I…read more previously had a lumbar laminectomy to help minimize pain. That surgery was performed by a surgeon in Las Vegas. That surgery was considered a minimally invasive surgery. However, it took me nearly 5 months to heal enough to return to work without significant pain. The bigger issue was that I had more issues post surgery than I did before. I developed numbness in both legs and down to my feet as well as having strong shocks down my legs. I was referred to Dr. Arthur Ulm to help me with this issue. He agreed I wad a candidate for surgery given the symptoms I was presenting. I had surgery 4 weeks ago, and feel like a million bucks! He did an amazing job! Not only do I have relief from the aches and pains of joint issues, but the shocks going down my legs to my feet are gone! I haven't had this much pain and discomfort relief in over 8 years. He knows what he's doing for sure. His staff was attentive and helpful to me and my wife. He was very communicative and prepared. I felt very comfortable gabbing this work done under his charge. I would recommend him for anyone asking about him. Very happy with the result!

He did a double spinal fusion…read more(ALIF/PLIF) and replaced 2 disks in my spine with disk cages and took bone grafts from my hips and painted it like it was a minor surgery. Guaranteed me I could run again within a month and that I'd be able to jump without pain by the 6 week follow up appt. That appt almost never came for me. My left hip incision was done horribly. The steristrips were dipping into my incision and it had issues closing. From right after the first surgery (it was a 2 part surgery, 2 different surgeries, 2 days apart), I was in horrific pain. My BP was low in the hospital. He allowed me to be released with extremely low BP. I called with a BP 70/40 and he told me to just stop taking pain pills, despite being on them for over a year and never having BP issues. This went on for 2 weeks. Then my incision, which was closed, popped back open and was warm to the touch, red, and was pussing. I came into his office barely conscious, fever of 103, and he told me I just had a low pain tolerance and I was being "babied" too much and told his nurse not to help me off the table (I couldn't even stay awake) and told me to walk on my own. Then sent me away. I was driven home by my sister and went to sleep and she couldn't wake me up. I was in septic shock. By the time she got me to the hospital I was near dead. I was delirious with an almost non-existent BP and super high HR. Cultures came back as Group A Strep Sepsis and was of critical value. he tried to DISCHARGE me as he said I "didn't look septic". They had to have a hospitalist step in to stop my discharge and re-order all my imaging. According to the hospitalist there were 3 of his patients with infections on the same floor. He literally tried to kill me for the sake of his own reputation. I have permanent heart and autoimmune issues because he was so negligent and reckless. He has lost his license in the state of KY and lost his privileges at multiple local hospitals, including St Thomas Midtown because of what he did to me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN, he is DANGEROUS. Do not let him touch you. He is the next Dr. Death.

He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced as a spine surgeon and a superb surgical technician. The outcome you want from a spine surgeon is a durable repair that alleviates symptoms as doesn't lead to early reoperation. How is office is running on a particular do is irrelevant. I have happened never to have to wait more than 20-30 minutes, but if it took two hours to get access to his expertise, well I've got my iPhone to keep me company.

His therapist was patient to point out recurring episodes that are clearly manic. I reluctantly agreed but was okay with my 'mania' because I am extremely productive during these times. (In essence I wanted to treat my depression but keep my mania) About 5 months into TMS, therapy, and medications, I (like so many patients) felt very good and discontinued treatment. Gradually (over 6 months), coupled with major traumatic events, my bipolar disorder became uncontrollable. Insomnia and panic attacks were taking over my life. I had never had a history of insomnia and panic attacks. These led to severe depression (and I no longer had my desired mania to help motivate me). In desperation (and much to my shame and embarrassment), I reached out to Dr. Tang and asked for help. His staff was gentle, understanding, and nonjudgmental about my self discontinued treatment. I was quickly seen (via Face Time...I love this because I don't drive and truly had no energy for an office visit) by a nurse and then Dr. Tang. I was honest with everything this go around. Within one week on the proper medications and support, I began sleeping, eating, and being productive in what I would consider a 'normal' fashion. I (and my family and friends) were getting the 'old me' back!! It was so wonderful she exciting!! Today (just one month later), I am free!! Dr. Tang (after careful and considerate review of my symptoms and history) NAILED my situation!!! No more panic attacks. No more insomnia (I have a great 8 hours of sleep). No more depression. And no more mania ((I am okay without it if it leads to me panic and insomnia that was severely debilitating. I am so very glad I returned to Dr. Tang. Again, there was no judgment concerning my decision to'do my own thing' without Dr, Tang and therapy. I am so at ease and balanced!! I highly recommend Nashville Brain Institute. Overall I got bad vibes from them and so I'm leaving this review just to let them know that you lost a client before you even had them by being very bad at following up and very unclear and unforthright in your costs. Meanwhile other TMS and neurfeedback clinics in Nashville got back to me in 1 day. The only reason I tried to give this one a chance is because it was a closer drive, but it's just not worth it.
