When I came to this shop for the first time in November, I met Terry, who is the manager of the place. He takes a lot of pride in his work and clients coming to him from all over the world. And what can I say... I was truly happy with the way my brown Saint Laurent suede boots turned out. I am very particular about my shoes and usually, I try to keep the exact same look as when I bought them. But in this case, Terry's suggestion to match the color of the sole and heel and to carefully roughen the edges was a much better idea. Even though the repairs weren't exactly cheap, I will most definitely come back. One thing to bear in mind though is that this shop is very busy and repairs can take up to 2 weeks. read more

Incredibly rude encounter. They might be better at shoes than they are at cutting keys. This place is local to my business and so when I need to make copies I normally go here. It has been hit and miss with the copies, but one of the chaps always tells me that I can go back if there;s an issue with the copies. However the last time I made three copies of two keys, one set of the copies did not work. And, it wasn't after several week that I was able to go back to fix the error. The other chap who works there, took one look at the keys and denied they had been cut there. It was so idiotic that I really had nothing to say and just left, knowing I would never use their services again. I mean how do you argue with such pettiness!?! I did once use their shoe repair services for a pair of suede boots. It was average and over priced. So not recommended in any shape or form. read more

I was in need of getting the heels of a pair of oxfords replaced and decided to do so on a trip to London, who knows shoes better, really? Looked at the reviews of various shoe repair shops in central London on yelp and google and settled on Hoxton. I mentioned that I needed the heels replaced and the clerk/repair person even suggested a lightweight heavy duty heel - was it that obvious? ;) Dropped off my shoes before lunch and picked them up after five the same day. The price was reasonable and I was very pleased with their work and customer service. I will definitely bring all of my shoes in need of repair here, even if it's an ocean away. Brought in my 10-year old cowboy boots, and £30 later I picked them up with new soles and heels (they also re-dyed the existing heel portions that had scuffs), and they feel great! Only a couple days for turn around, friendly service, and they even text me when they were ready. I'm not sure what their prices are like compared to other places, but the quality of work seems quite good, and those prices are comparable to what I paid in the US, so I am happy. I'd certainly go back next time I need shoes repaired. They accept credit cards, too, which is nice. read more

What a great repair shop! The man, who is truly decent and kind, fixed my battered heels of my black ankle boots in about three hours on a Saturday! It was a pleasant surprise, since I was prepared to leave them there for a couple of days if necessary. The price is reasonable and the workmanship is very good. It's located just next to Hoxton Street Market, so it's a wonderful neighborhood to explore by itself. It's totally worth a 20-30 min ride over there :) read more

If you want your shoes done by professionals, DON'T take them to Hoxton Shoes repair. Worst customer service experience ever. The manager completely botched my shoes, put heels on flat-soled-shoes (!) and handed back my watch with the strap still broken. Out of four items, they only managed to fix the battery on one watch, and it took them a month to get it back to me. The manager was unbelievable, so unwilling to accept he made a mistake he actually called me at work and was verbally abusive! The owner Nick eventually took control and fixed my shoes, he promised a full refund but in the end decided to not give it to me. He said he is a man of his word, but apparently he's not. Unreal, super stressful experience and seriously unprofessional. Plenty of places in town to take your shoes so save yourself the hassle, overinflated prices and shabby workmanship and take them to a professional service. read more

I've bought a pair of TopMan leather boots 4 years ago. Wore them till I thought they were a case for the bin. But given they gained a great characterful patina over the years I really didn't wanna part with them. So I gave them to the guys at Hoxton Shoe Repair. And they did the best job I could've imagined. Not only are the boots back in action, but are sturdier and better than ever before. They stitched the upper down to a high Quality Vibram sole. Best boots in town now. God looking solid leather boot on top with an also good looking and now durable, properly stitched sole to match. Other than that the service was top, they offered my different style and price options and chucked in some great leather cream and shoelaces for free at the end. Real good old fashioned Craftsmen, knowing what they're doing. Refreshingly friendly and honest too. This shoe repair is mediocre and worst: they are thieves! To avoid! I brought them around 5-6 pairs of shoes with various things to be done (heels, sole guards, etc..) for which I paid more than £130 - really expensive but given the good reviews I decided to give it a go. So far I have worn 3 out of the 6 pairs: - one of the heel fell off the first day I worn these - another pair: they were supposed to screw a heel to the sole, to make it stick - after first day worn, the heel is falling apart again, they just glued it and not screwed it as they said (and charged me for) -- thieves! - last pair: they did not replace the rubber heels as they told me they would (and charged me for) -- thieves!! For now out of 3 pairs they have not been able to mend one correctly, despite the enormous fares they asked for. I did my shoes here and this place is unbelievable. They replaced the sole and it looks like it's brand new. I'm thoroughly impressed. I've been to other cobblers that completely mangled my shoes so I was expecting the worst. I recently took a very beautiful and expensive watch to be repaired here. I was assured they would take great care with it as it required a delicate hand to reseal the leather strap and fit a new battery. When I returned to collect it I was totally shocked! Not only was the leather strap marked where weight had clearly been applied to help glue it down but the glass face was scratched in two places as was the metal around it. I pointed this out to the man serving me and this is when we entered into an argument, where he continuously refused to accept any responsibility for the damages. I left having to pay for the mess they had made! They may be fine working with shoes (??) but I would never trust them with something as delicate as a watch ever again. I ended up having to take it to another watch repairer who has thankfully smoothed out the scratches and removed the excess glue left all over the face. Really shoddy workmanship. read more

I went to this shop based in the good reviews I saw however I am very disappointed with the service and results. I took my brogues. Blue/Grey. The grey part had faded and looked like a light tan. I wanted the grey colour restored. Tried to explain to the manager however he was convinced the original colour was Brown despite my attempts to say no it was grey! He convinced me the best thing was to change it to a brown colour as dyeing it grey would prove to expensive. I agreed and I have just collected it and I'm very disappointedwith the results I should have followed my instincts and sought elsewhere. The manager was not in but another worker who was not very helpful. Hence I'm baffled by the glowing reviews that spoke of great customer service and quality results I now have to look for another shoe service to restore my shoes back to its original grey. This cobbler is amazing and the best place I have ever been to for shoes!! In the last 3 years, I have gone here for the following services: full resoles, tips recapped, leather scuffs cleaned, general polishing, shoes stretched, shoes recolored and rubber soles put onto my shoes. Everything has been done to an amazing standard of quality and workmanship. I have taken both designer and regular shoes here and both were treated excellently. The guys who run this shop can do absolutely anything and their prices are always reasonable.They are also very honest as to whether they think something should be done and what can be done on a pair of shoes. Had some stains on my leather handbag, emailed them a photo before hand to ask if they could fix it. A guy replied quite quickly saying that some 'mild shampooing' would fix it easily and that 'this kinda repair they do all the times'! Trusted them and brought my bag in, they said it would cost £65. I waited and waited for more than 2 weeks, during which they took NO initiatives in calling and updating about the progress, every time I had to call in with them to check and they said they were making progress. FINALLY one day they said it's 99% ready, went in to collect it and it looked EXACTLY the same (I took a photo before the repair and all the stains look the same when put into comparison!) What's worst is they asked for £30 still for labour cost!!! I don't mind paying them £30 pounds if there had been ANY progress with the bag at all and they should have taken initiatives in telling me from the beginning that they had problems fixing it! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE OVERALL! A stand-up shop with integrity would not even ask for so much money when they can't fix the bag like promised. read more
