I love shoes, but what I don't love is poorly shoes. It gets to that point when all of your shoes need a bit of TLC and a visit to the cobbler is on the cards. Trying out a cobbler for the first time is like your kids first day at school. When you pick them up at the end of the day you never know what kind of trauma they have had to face. Was someone mean to them? Did they have another nice pair of shoes to sit on the shelf with while they waited? Were they hanging out with some white stilettos? Did they get treated with the love and care that they deserve? All of these things flash through my mind. That's Shoe Business was the first shoe repair shop I found along Leather Lane, strange considering there use to be so many. The service here is top notch. I could see that the chap working there cared as he checked the dampness of my shoes before telling me that I could come back this evening to pick them up. He also didn't scold me for letting them wear down so much. I had a good feeling about this. The only thing that took my breath away was the price. Almost £50 for three pairs of shoes to be soled and re-heeled. Now maybe that isn't expensive to you but back in east London, you can get the same job done for less than £30. This place is located on the perfect street for a shoe repair shop, "Leather Lane" and it does the street name justice. I'm giving them top marks since I dropped off a pair of shoes in need of new soles and they were ready to be collected by the end of the day. I couldn't be happier with the end result, the shoes look brand new and are more comfortable since I'm not wearing down the sole even more as I walk. Price for full rubber sole and heal was £30, keep that in mind when you bring shoes here. Probably only worth using this place for expensive shoes that you really want to keep for a long time. These gentlemen were not only accommodating, but kind and quick. Their quiet and service oriented manner was refreshing - and slightly surprising to be honest. My heel tip broke during my walk to work, so I stopped by during lunch to see if they could replace the pair while I waited. My shoes were repaired and polished, and handed back with a smile, within 3 minutes! No exaggeration. I went to this amazing shop in Farringdon with two different shoes (forming a pair) and the heel's replacements (given with the shoes when I bought them) and this amazing guy replaced them in front of me for £5 pound only!!!!! Before trying his service I went in a very famous shoes repair and key cutting shop close to the tube entrance.. and they wanted to charge me £25... I will definitely come back to "that's business shoes" and I recommend it to everyone honestly. read more

It's conveniently close to where I work, so I thought I'd go there to remove some links from my watch bracelet. If I'd known the service costs £9.95, I'd stick to having a loose watch for another while. not sure about cheaper for an independent place - went 2 months ago and i got quoted two prices for rubber soles to be added - £17.50 for basic and £22.50 for a tougher rubber which is great as timpsons charge £35 + went back today and its almost £40.. not sure what they are playing at! maybe there is a set of prices if you go in a suit and a second set of prices with customers who are not dressed in business attire! we work just as hard as you do for our money so no need to try and rip us off! you should think about relocating to the financial district where you can price hike all you want. read more
