After a recommendation from HomeAdvisor, I left a message for 3 companies, and Sam was the only one who called me back. As soon as I met Sam, he impressed me with his keen observations and large knowledge of how his team could repair minor carpentry problems. I got an estimate the next day via email, and immediately hired him. Sam is an impressive young man, talks quickly and works even faster. Only the trim and shutters would be repainted, and the team was absolutely meticulous in "cutting" around windows and brick. They caulked, made many repairs that I hadn't even listed, and painted dawn to dusk and in 7 days, cleaned up and went on to their next job. The team was mostly Sam and Chris, a young man with an impressive education and extensive home remodeling experience. They were on time every day, and at 8:00 a they were at it again. They removed all my shutters, painted, then rehung them, straight this time, because the shutter installer hung them slightly crookedly. I couldn't tell, but they checked a level, replaced all the hardware, and relocated them correctly. Sam says that goes with the job, when I apologized for the extra work. And this tops it all. . . The final bill was $1000.00 less than they had quoted! I've NEVER had that happen! Sam is a fine young man with a bright future. Hire him, you will be impressed with your results!

We were thrilled to find In Style because they had a great selection of sturdy, well-built cabinets…read morethat we could match to the existing historic woodwork in our kitchen and the price was much more affordable than we expected. Designer Jessica Bostic showed us that, despite the constraints of multiple doors and a c. 1911 wall-sized built-in, we could have a much bigger island than we ever thought possible. This means that I can prepare meals while my 8 year-old plays toy soldiers at the end of the island, making it all much more pleasant. We also appreciated the cabinet layout which took into account a bulkhead we couldn't remove and other interesting challenges old houses sometimes offer. They also suggested places to find countertops (we unexpectedly chose Fantasy Brown marble, which was much more affordable than we thought.) Jessica also met me at a tile showroom in the Indianapolis area where I found the marble tile for the backsplash; my husband and I love the way it flows with the countertop. In an area where finding reliable construction crews can be tough, the construction crews overseen by Phil and affiliated with In Style were thorough, professional, prompt and very responsive whenever we had questions. This was a very positive construction experience and we really appreciate all the time that they spent on the project. We love our kitchen and are so grateful to In Style for helping us achieve the kitchen of our dreams.

Pricing not transparent nor reasonable: We asked Lohmeyer…read morePlumbing to install a bath faucet and drain fixture for a stand-alone antique-style bath.   The original fixture failed and leaked. The plumber assigned to the job brought a helper to evaluate and quote the work. He also spent some time at the plumbing supply house determining if parts were available to fix the failed fixture. They determined that we would need a new fixture. My wife worked with the supply house and selected and purchased the fixture. Once we had the fixture in hand we received the quote for this installation.  I was dismayed to see the quote for the installation work was $3877.00! When I asked for more detail I was given a verbal summary of the additional materials for the work that seemed to amounted to less than $50. We notified Lohmeyer that we intended to reject their proposal. I contacted another reputable local plumber and received a quote for about  $400 for installation. I accepted the quote, and the work was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. The plumber and his helper spent less than 2 hours to complete the work. We then received a bill for $595 for the service rendered. Note that they charge much more to quote this job than a reputable plumber charged us to complete the job. If you work with Lohmeyer I recommend getting a firm quote before they start the work. Then again, I would not recommend trying to do this as I think it will be a waste of your time.
