I am a student in grade 12 currently attending this school. The honest truth about this school is…read moreit is EXCELLENT for academics. You/your child will be attending one of the best schools academically in Toronto, but you/your child will have absolutely no social life. I came here from a very large public school and let me tell you my social life, now, is a crap shoot. There are no friend groups, and no one gets along well. Constant unnecessary drama and students do not get along well at all. Also prepare for your child to be spoiled for life because the clientele that can afford a $30,000 a year school are the wealthiest in Toronto. Lastly the school has no sports, school spirit, student life, and the "committees and clubs" are a joke. Nothing is taken seriously by the students except for academics, and the teachers and administration promote a miserable environment by only focusing on academics. If you want your child to be extremely bright but likely a nerd without a social life who spends his days at home either studying or playing video games then this is the school for you. If you want a well rounded happy child who balances his school and social life than this is definitely not the school for you. My personal opinion is to NOT send your child here.

As new immigrants, my parents sent me to TDSB for high school…read more It really destroyed my life. Less than 25% of teachers were good. More than 30% of the teachers were terrible. They were heartless and unprofessional. The most important things were their job stability and their publicity. At Earl Haig SS, when ESL students cried, teachers just walked past them. When a white girl cried, a teacher conforted her with a hot drink and snacks. It was painful to watch. Unprofessional English teachers teach Gr.12 English and told immigrant kids that they were hopeless. One of the kids has become a published author and recalls her tdsb experience like telling a joke. Our lives cannot be treated like jokes. Stay away from this corrupt place!

I was a former student of Earl Haig Secondary School from 1988 to 1990…read more Around 1989, there was an outing on Toronto Centre Island. We had barbecue hot dogs for lunch. During the barbecue, a sausage had been dropped on the sandy floor. The female teacher, who was around 45 years old, announced volunteer to take that dirty sausage for bonus mark. (According to the year book, the name of this teacher was "R. Wadhera". Attachment is her photo.) Finally, she asked a female student as volunteer. Many schoolmates asked her not to fall on trap of this teacher. For unsure reason, this female student accepted the dirty sausage. As one of the schoolmates, I didn't do anything to stop her from falling on this trap. (Now, I feel very guilty and very regret. I find myself a accomplice who trample a pure, lovely, innocent, noble character and beautiful girl.) I believe the behavior of this villainous teacher, hurt many of the students who loved the girl who took that dirty sausage. Under the witness of God and Buddhas, whatever I write in here is the truth and real truth.

Attending The Linden School was one of the worst experiences of my life. It has been over 10 years…read moresince I left, and I still carry trauma from my time there. Instead of being a place of growth and encouragement, the school created an atmosphere of fear, exclusion, and constant judgment. A teacher, Rory consistently singled me out in ways that felt unfair and humiliating. The leadership under the principal, Janice, only made things worse -- the administration fostered an environment that was punitive rather than supportive, and students like me were left feeling isolated and diminished. The impact of this experience has stayed with me long after, which says everything about the culture of this school. I would strongly warn families to reconsider before sending their children here.

She started at Linden in junior high school with average grades and a perception of herself as an average student who struggled in various subjects. She left Linden with top grades across all subjects and a perception of herself as someone who could do anything she set her mind to. She went on to attend the University of Toronto and graduated with an Honours Degree with Highest Distinction. I will always be grateful to the Linden School. This school had a profoundly positive impact on my daughter's life.
