It took me…read moreten minutes to get what I needed, so I walked past all the closed non-self checkouts to the one register that was still open, as indicated by the green light. There was an attendant there talking to another behind the next cash, which was closed, as indicated by the red light. When I went to start unbagging my groceries, I was told to go to the self checkout, which was swamped. I told the cashier that I didn't want to wait in that long line for the few things I had, and that I don't work for free. I was then again told that they were closing (which doesn't happen until 11pm, over an hour later.), and that I should go to the self checkout if I wanted my groceries. Staying as calm as I could, I explained to the cashier that there should be at least one checkout lane open as long as the store is open, and I received a pair of blank stares from both cashiers. So I dumped my groceries out in the checkout lane and left. I'm no Karen to go asking to talk to the manager, and it took a great deal of restraint not to just walk out with my groceries to make my point. I rarely visit this location due to it's terrible service, and I will not be back unless they have one hell of a sale on something I need.

I needed some lunch, so I drove over to a restaurant to take care of my hunger. After my stomach was full, I worked it off by coming over to this Giant Tiger. There is a ton of parking in this plaza. I found a spot pretty close to the store's main entrance and walked in. This store is massive. I spent a good chunk of time here. Each Giant Tiger is different. This one has one of the better grocery sections. I found my favourite bagged cereal on sale. There were many frozen food aisles. I even saw Deep 'n Delicious cakes from my childhood. I wanted to get one, but knew that I could devour one in a sitting and decided to put it down. The fresh produce section is great. I saw everything from Sunkist navel oranges to celery. Valentine's Day had just past. All chocolates and merchandise were on sale. This store doesn't miss a beat with its Easter merchandise, though! I paid for my items with a debit card. The lineup was a bit long, but not horrible for a Saturday afternoon. Staff here are helpful and friendly. I like this Giant Tiger. I'd come back again when I'm in the neighbourhood. (77)

If you're looking for a slice of Europe without having to 'cross the pond' (fly over the Atlantic…read moreOcean), try Village Square in Burlington. Atlhough small area-wise, it has an European charm - including the iconic London red phone booth! Made up of a few blocks in downtown Burlington (steps from the waterfront, Brant Street Pier, and Spencer Smith Park), Village Square has a number of restaurants, patios, pubs, and unique specialty shops and services. Think of it as an outdoor mall. It reminds me of a cross between Toronto's Yorkville and Distillery District (albeit smaller and more compact). The place can be a bit quiet in the morning, but comes alive at night with lights and sometimes live music (especially in the summer months).

It is set up like an European village with its narrow alleys and cobblestones. There are many restaurants, specialty shops and services. It can be considered an outdoor mall. It is located near the up-and-coming waterfront area in Burlington, which has so many restaurants and an excellent boardwalk and playground and so many condos being built. The decor of each building has an old European look. The closest equivalent in Toronto is The Distillery District but Village Square is smaller and butter implemented in my opinion. It was a busy place on a Saturday night with most of the restaurants filled. There are little nooks and crannies are that very photographic. There is even a musician to entertain people.

I have been purchasing my home accessories from them for more than a couple of years now and it's sad to see they've closed their Toronto store, but I'm happy they have opened new ones. You can also order online and have your order delivered to your home or a store close by. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. There's ample parking spaces available in the mall parking.

I actually haven't heard of them before or at least, didn't really notice. I found out that they're Canadian, family-owned, and female-owned interestingly enough. The online options were plentiful but I really wanted to be able to feel the quality of what they had. The store is pretty new in Mapleview and huge! It's split half half between kitchen and bedding. They have all manner of kitchenware and utensils, including small appliances. There's a lot of selection of everything and they usually have them out of the box so you can pick things up and get a feel for them. There were a lot of drink machines to choose from like espresso makers and carbonated water machines, including branded ones like Nespresso and SodaStream. They have a lot of collections and sets that you can coordinate between. There was ultimately a little too much selection as I needed a night to sleep on things lol.
