Nicole said the owner, Nikki was absolutely wonderful, super accommodating, set up all the decorations, ordered the pizza, and just organized everything so well. I noticed Nikki was also very good with the kids and kept everything running as smooth as possible. I think she had a few other instructors or helped but for the most part, she did everything by herself. When we first arrived, the kids got to run around a bit and play with all the equipment. They had tons of play mats scattered around the room, a small ball pit, rings, parallel bars, high bars, zip lining, and a few other small kids activities. Our group had kids that varied in ages from 2-16 years old. Many of the parents, super young and the older kids were just hanging around watching the other kids play. The area is spacious and clean. Nikki would gather the kids to do different activities such as zip lining, parachute and tumbling. Then she would allow them a break in between and let them go play on their own. Once the pizza arrived, the kids got to go into the birthday room and eat and drink. They had enough pizza for some of the parents too. Then kids went to play and we gathered the kids to sing happy birthday and cut the cake. I think with the party, you invite the guests and bring a cake. They take care of everything else! Our kids had a blast and everything was well organized. Even the parents had a good time. At one point, our husbands were hanging out in the small ball pit. Haha. The venue allowed us to have a horse and carriage on the tee box right next to the cocktail hour space, and the reception room with the included draping and chandeliers were perfect. Also, probably most importantly, the team made us feel wanted and loved. As a LGBT couple, we were worried that it would be difficult to find a venue and vendor team that made us feel just as comfortable as any other couple, but they exceeded our expectations. They made accommodations for us to use both locker rooms as bridal suites, ensured we were always comfortable with all of the decisions, and even let us do a re-tasting to ensure we were 100% satisfied with our dinner menu. Our guests absolutely RAVED about the bar service and service of the venue staff. Everything was perfect - so much so that MANY of our guests have asked us to throw anniversary parties here every year. The Royal Crest Room team was also incredibly responsive and flexible when communicating any questions or concerns, worked with us when we had a payment due but we were traveling internationally, and immediately corrected an issue with our sand ceremony equipment. The reception room had beautiful white drapery and a hanging chandelier, the tables were spaced nicely around the room all with formal dining wear and chargers. The servers were very quiet and respectful during the event, and wore all black head to toe, including gloves while serving food. They moved around in a very smooth pattern and flow of the room. They were professionals. My only complaint is the bathrooms are single stalls.

One, Orlando is mercilessly hot in August, so trying to mini golf in this weather is just putting things off on the wrong foot immediately. Fortunately there are actually a few spots of respite from the heat here, including one hole that is like inside of a cave, so you get to get all the way out of the sun, which is very much welcome. The course is showing some wear, especially on the "tee boxes." The starting point for every hole is a golf ball sized indent where you place the ball, effectively sinking your ball below the surface for your first stroke. So, when you put your initial shot, it has to "hop out" of the hole, causing all manner of whacky movements. I guess people kept putting their ball down and then stomping it into place to stop it from rolling around. On the 4th or 5th hole, there is a little animated mushroom that you are supposed to putt into. I putt into the mushroom hole annnnnnnd.....no ball came out. I walk all the way back to the front, in satan level heat, and tell them about this, to which they say, "it happens sometimes...." Well then....fix it! Anywho, I get back, and the Misses says that HER ball went in the mushroom hole too, never to return, so I had to walk BACK back to the front to get a ball for HER. We wound up just skipping the hole. This dance is actually a common threat here. The prospect of losing a ball is ever present. There are a few holes where you actually NEED to put a little ass on your shot. Not enough, and it rolls back. Too much and it jumps the course, which is surrounded by water and unretrievable terrain. We got lucky on a few other holes that I didn't have to walk back, back BACK to the front to get a new ball. They have a second half of the course where it's basically a tiny golf course that you putt on, replete with sand traps and hazards, and that looked cool, but it was just WAY too hot to bother with that noise. It was a free excursion for us, so I don't know about pricing, but if you have a heat tolerant group of adults, you might have an alright time. The Misses said SHE really enjoyed it. Our 7 year old was checked out by the 3rd hole. *shoulder shrug emoji*

I spent some time working at Disney, and I know for Disney it's all about "the show". This is the concept that we're creating a world for the guests that should be flawless and enjoyable. And for what it costs to come here, they truly deserve it. So, I was disappointed when multiple elements of the Fantasia Gardens course were not functioning or worn down. I expect better from Disney. On one hole, an entire statue was missing. On another, the poem that says trumpets will sound if you get a hole-in-one (someone in our group did), was met with silence. Frustrating and, more common perils of mini-golf also persist here, like tee-off pads being so worn down the ball doesn't stay put, or needs to be moved to a less-than-ideal lie just to tee off. Disney, you know better and should do better. The experience was still fun, but one could spend half the price for a better experience off Disney property. That should never be the case.

We parked at the West Concourse, only to find out our event was at the North Concourse -- which turned into a 20-30 minute walk. Had we known, parking over there would've been free, but instead we paid $25 per day, and there's no in-and-out access. Once you're parked, you're committed. Also surprising: no shuttle service, which would have made a huge difference given the size of this place. Inside, the volleyball tournament itself was easy to navigate, which was a plus. Courts were laid out well and signage inside the event area was decent. Food, however, was a letdown. Yes, there's a wide variety -- Chinese, deli, tacos, poke bowls, salads, hot dogs, etc. -- but the prices are outrageous, and you don't really have alternatives once you're inside. It feels like you're stuck paying whatever they decide to charge. One more tip: bring a sweatshirt. The temperature inside is wildly inconsistent -- one minute you're hot, the next you're freezing. Overall, the Orlando Convention Center is massive and functional, but better communication about concourses, parking options, and transportation would go a long way. Come prepared, plan ahead, and brace your wallet for food prices. You won't be so happy that I know. I wish you were allowed to bring your own snacks in because this would make life a lot easier!
