The are excellent restaurants, coffee & tea shops and an ice cream parlor. There are plenty of spots to just sit down and people-watch, too. It is a center for commerce and socializing. Every so often you see an interesting stone in the street with a viking rune sculpted into it. I asked many passers-by what these runes stand for but nobody could tell me. A Google image search led me to the conclusion that these stones embedded in the pedestrian zone spell out the text on the original Jelling stone where Denmark was first named as a country. So there's an interesting bit of history woven right into the fabric of the center of town, too.

They got almost everything, sports shop on both upper and lower level, food court, keenly shop, H&M, grocery shop, book store, list goes on. Still can not figure out how the parking rule works, but a nice Danish dude told me parking is free for two hours. But how would parking enforcement know I parked there for two, and not more???

They have a full grocery store and a bakery plus a department store. There's a Starbuck's and some kind of a slush stand. There are bikes on sale, clothes, toys. ..pretty much everything you could think of. All this with plenty of parking space and opening hours every day from 8 am to 10 pm. That's a luxury that's practically unheard of where I live in Austria.

Then go straight to the cafe down the slope to get a feel for the entire museum. The marvelous Fjord view will make your jaw drop, so remember to breathe! Buffet lunch is about Kr 158/person, with ample selection. Arne Jacobsen's pre-fab summer house prototype is not to be missed as well. Twice a day 1pm and 3pm. Some highlights: - The fireplace in the living room is also functioned as a BBQ outside - Electric heated ceiling - The low windows are optimized and designed for sit down viewing - Minimalistic Vola design faucets in the bathroom Finn Juhl's string of pelican chairs will lead you to a spiral staircase, and open up to the entire floor of Danish Design chairs, with a center courtyard. Notice how the bench is designed to be playful swings. There're also current exhibition of modern arts which is quite interesting as well. Finish the tour in the souvenir shop, and try not to buy too much because everything is overpriced. All in all, Trapholt totally live up to one of the best Danish Design museums.
