If you use the online site, you will always, always be asked to create a new account, even though you already have an online account with them. Expect this. 2. You will not find out that there is a special subset of Kaiser specifically for Northern Washington until you have spent 45 minutes creating your new account (that you already had, with the information you already used for the old one) and have hit 'enter'. 3. The online chat is, admittedly, great, and probably the best way to get customer service. UNLESS 4. You are looking to change or obtain psychiatric services. That can only be accessed by an '888' number, and the wait time is ridiculous. If you have a cell phone, pray that it doesn't go dark before the automated voice asks for your member number - the response interval times out fast and shoots you straight into the wait - queue, which is often an hour or more long. 5. Once you have reached a representative, they will direct you to the online customer assistance site that told you to call the phone number. Catch 22! 6. In the rare, rare event that you get through the labyrinth, have all your information right at hand. Your insurance card, your medications, all of it. The intake process will necessarily be a lengthy one (don't blame the poor phone receptionists, please - they didn't design this mess of a system. Please be kind to them.)
