On the morning of February 1, 2026, my youngest kiddo and I drove to check it out. It is a very clean park in a decent neighborhood. Again, not the best neighborhood, not the worst. I refrained from taking a photo of the pavilion as there was a transient eating his meal there on that peaceful morning. This looks like a swell park for a picnic with younger kiddos. It features: + bbq grill + a large pavilion + picnic tables + two different playground areas + trash receptacles There is a nice large parking lot too. Happy February!

Bowling is such great fun with my goofball family…read more.. Bel Aire Bowl has been around since I was a little girl growing up in Hobbs. Tonight (8/25/2023) we spent about $140 on two lanes, nine players, and borrowing of bowling shoes. The place hasn't changed much. By that I mean it needs a makeover. Lol. Still, it is super fun at night because they keep the lights low with lots of fluorescent & neon colors moving in disco ball-like patterns. The shoes have been replaced in recent years. The women's restroom was mostly clean. A baby changing station was available. It's next door to a fabulous antique shop, Sonic Drive-In, Exxon gas station, & Big Lots. They also offer these dinosaur ramps for younger bowlers. My 3-year-old niece loved that. The staff members are extremely friendly, patient, & helpful. The snack bar is available. Thank you to my brother for loading the kids up on sugar and passing them back off on us tired and haggard parents. Uncles are punks like that. Lol. There's ample parking. They are open until midnight on the weekends. During Halloween, part of the bowling alley becomes haunted maze. Happy strikes & spares!

Marshall Memorial Park lies on the northeast side of Eunice, NM…read more It was deeded to the City of Eunice in 1948 by W. H. & Hazel Turner, according to a memorial plaque at 12th St and Ave Q. An additional sign at 9th St and Ave Q stated that the park is "a cooperative project with N. M. Natural Resources Dept & U. S. Department of Interior." This sign is weather-beaten and deteriorating. This park offers several amenities for the small desert town. PROS + playgrounds for both smaller & bigger kids + swing sets + shade trees & grassy areas + dogs on leashes allowed - dog waste bags are available near Ave Q + basketball courts + little league baseball field + softball field + gazebos & other shaded structures + picnic tables & benches + bbq grills + small rodeo arena + ample street parking + a walking/running path + seasonal outdoor public pool was nearby CONS - near the walking/running path, a sign says "no bicycles, scooters..." and other non-sense on the concrete sidewalk. Why?! No parent ever wants to see this because this is one of the safest areas for rollerblades and scooters where it's actually smooth. Kids don't understand this stupid rule either. - could be cleaner - trash cans do not have lids - rv park nearby I saw some porta potties nearby where construction of some kind was occuring, but I never saw brick & mortar restrooms. My daughters and I came here on their last day of Winter Break on 1/9/2024 while Eunice Schools was in session so it was nice to have the park to ourselves aside from two path users.

College Lane Elementary School holds lots of memories for me personally…read more My dad picked me up in a two-door Ford in snow when I was in kindergarten. This was when I was in Miss Roberts' afternoon session. My mom brought my twin brothers in a stroller to my field day when I was older - can't remember which grade - but all my friends absolutely adored them. My favorite teacher, Mrs. Gage, was super hard, but I appreciate and miss that. She was my sixth grade teacher. So many things from my past no longer applied to my own children who I brought from California to Hobbs in 2022. No more morning and afternoon sessions for kinder. It's all day now. No more siblings are allowed at events. They no longer call it field day. Teachers no longer require memorization of songs like The Star Spangled Banner or readings or dead famous poets. Sixth grade is also no longer the highest grade level at Hobbs Municipal Schools. Fifth is. Overall, I cannot complain too much about College Lane. Both of my daughters were on the bus when an accident occurred. I was contacted right away and encouraged to go to the school to check on them. They weren't hurt. Just shaken up. The motorcyclist that ran into the back of them died. I drove by today and noticed how they re-paved the parking lots and made a much easier pick-up and drop-off area. AFTER my kids moved on! Ugh. Lol. There are still some wonderful teachers here. I'm still miffed that when I was in 5th grade, there was a mascot change. I voted to keep the "Cobras." The rest of the school apparently wanted to change to the "Cowboys."

The surrounding neighborhood is decent. Not the best. Not the worst. It is probably a great point of interest for those who live in the vicinity, but honestly there are better playgrounds to drive to in this small town.
