The Best Steak House around, here in Progreso called Humo Bistro located on Calle 66 The restaurant is very nice with outdoor seating. We greeted by our very friendly waiter Javier, and he set us outside by a nice palm tree. For appetizers we had the steak tacos that were absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the New England clam chowder that came in a crispy bread bowl, it was delicious, Hot, with a lot of Clams, and the bread bowl is so good you can break off pieces and scoop up the delicious soup. I had the filet mignon with french fried potatoes asparagus with a black pepper sauce, it has to be one of the best steaks I have had in Yucatan in years, and the French fries or homemade with a lemon salt, the steak was to die for, and so is that pepper sauce this Chef really knows what he's or she is doing. We can't wait to go back, I took a look at the lasagna and that is what I want to have next time, I also saw the hamburger and that looked mouth watering. The Owner greated us to make sure everything was good , she's very nice. We also met the manager, she is so friendly with the biggest smile. Muy rico!!! Affordable perfection. Staff, atmosphere, food is top quality. Vibe is classic, cozy, romantic, hip. In case you don't know much Spanish, Our waiter (Caesar) and manager (Juan or Jose?) both spoke English. First class service with warmth and smiles. Steak was excellent. Fresh fish was beautiful. Caramel cookie dessert was phenomenal. Apple crumble dessert was average, but the strawberry goat cheese ice cream with it fantastic. Cucumber water is complimentary and so refreshing. Pita and chimichurri is complimentary and very good. Will definitely be going back again during our stay. !

Really great all the way around! My wife and I stopped in on a whim one Sunday at 5pm. They close at 6 on Sundays, but it wasn't a problem for the staff at all. This seems to be a converted home with a small swimming pool in the back. They have been open only one month but nailed it. Modern decor with great jazz playing in the background. Indoor seating available which is air conditioned, or outdoor seating in the small backyard. We ordered a mango margarita and a standard margarita and both were delicious. You can see the fresh fruit at their small bar. The complimentary 'house bread' with tapenade was really delicious- I could have eaten that all night, lol. We don't usually eat much, so we opted to share an appetizer and an entree, and the restaurant was glad to accommodate. Caprese salad: Chef used fresh arrúgala and arrúgala pesto in place of basil. Great twist! Hamburger: The two halves were plated separately for us and - here's the kicker - each plate was fogged under glass using a smoke device of some sort! (See photo.) The flavor was amazing! The burger could have easily stood on its own but the smoke completely kicked it up a notch! And it was fun to watch! (HUMO Bistro. Humo means smoke in Spanish as my wife pointed out later. Doh!) Dessert: Apple crumble. Good with an unknown sorbet(?) on top. The sorbet had almost no flavor on its own but it seemed to mysteriously bring out the tartness in the apples. Go figure. The sous chef (?) mentioned chemistry as part of their recipes beforehand and my wife said that this must be one of the things he was talking about. Cool! The wait staff was completely attentive and helpful at all times. I speak some Spanish, but when we couldn't communicate "medium well" to our server another server stepped in and translated. Nice! The owner Gila came to the table and we chatted for a while. She is a nice person and she said her husband is the chef and co-owner. Cost of the meal: $60OMX (before tip) for 3 cocktails, two bottled waters, one large appetizer, one entree (that was split for us) and one dessert. We felt pampered and lucky to have stumbled across this place. We will definitely be back!

I came here with my boyfriend and even though we didn't have reservations (although I do recommend) we had a great experience. We got the tacos for an appetizer which were delicious and I had the seared tuna. Highly recommend. My bf had the rib eye which I think was cleansed or smoked with Sage. Everything was perfect. We saved room for the creme brûlée . Our waiter was so attentive even though the table next to us was being way too needy. He was on it. I wish I remembered his name but he was great!

The beer is cold and opened table side and the Mexican food is simple, flavorful n authentic! The Bars and Restaurants have tables on the street in a sidewalk cafe type setting. I have been stopping here on every trip to Progresso. The immediate place as you enter the street area, is Panco Villa Restaurant. You are greeted offer a menu along with the cost of the beverages, Margaritas 2 for $5 or beer for $1. I must say, the margaritas are made traditional, squeezed lime, triple sec, bar syrup, and tequila and in a real glass, not a plastic cup. I had several items to eat, one was the shrimp cocktail, Mexican style, very delicious and then I had the Devil Shrimp, sometimes referred to as Camarones el Diablo. They will prepare to any degree of heat that you want. So, if you are cruising through Progresso, give this place a stop for food or just a drink. Ask for Sergio.
