This gorgeous public art project seemed to be ubiquitous - nearly every barn in Hamilton County that I passed on Route 20 had something pretty painted on it. Apparently the idea for Barn Quilts started in Adams County, Ohio in 2001 - it was a way to foster interest in an economically depressed part of Ohio - and the idea has now spread to other areas - including Iowa, Ohio,Tennessee, North Carolina and West Virginia and "Clothesline Quilts" in Appalachia. According to the Hamilton County Barn Quilts Website: "The Barn Quilts of Hamilton County Project began in 2005 after SEED Director Catherine Bergman and quilt shop owner Sara Harless spent several hours together attending a trade show. Seeing the impact the project has had on other areas of Iowa and the county, the two women knew that Hamilton County could benefit from the idea. From there, the phone calls began to find property owners willing to paint quilts on their barns, and the rest is history (in-the-making). In Hamilton County the project is being coordinated by Hamilton County SEED, Hamilton County ISU Extension, and Prairie Rose Quilts & Gifts." My friends and I made the 4 hour trip from WI to check out Byrons bar last weekend. The initial…read moredraw was the fantastic band Harper and the Midwest Kind, but after only a few minutes inside the bar, we were fans of the venue itself. It was apparent upon arrival that it is a favorite place for locals. (On a Sunday night in the middle of nowhere, the place was pleasantly full) The bartenders are friendly and prompt. Byron himself held a place behind the bar, and as soon as he saw our new faces, he came right over and started a chat. What a nice fellow. It became very apparent he does what he does for the love music, and being able to offer a place for like minded people to come together for great live music. We had a great time. For anyone who loves live music - Byrons Bar is a must; maybe even a pilgrimage. Keep dancing Byron, cheers to you! And your friends from WI will definately be back!

This was definitely the case here at WCCT. The pride in their work and love of theater were apparent here. The actors and crew did a wonderful job. The location in an old church makes the theater more beautiful.
