When I got to the Broadmedows store they had also run out of stock and when I told them what had happened (so that they could call Coburg and tell them so stop sending people over) they shrugged their shoulders. What would we do on our weekends if you didn't exist?…read moreNewly, well almost a year old now, purpose built location several metres down from its older premise, this Bunnings packs a punch and is always buzzing with activity during the week and definitely the weekends. It's a full range store, with a trade area attached to it. Sausage sizzle on every weekend shows the involvement and support of its local community. Now who can resist that?! I usually hit up this place for its comprehensive garden and plant range. What's nice is that the outdoor garden centre also has two checkouts and a entry/ exit so you can wheel your trolley of mulch, dynamic lifter, pots and plants straight out to your parked car just right outside. The staff are always on hand, cheerful and ever ready to answer your questions or direct you to the next best person who can. It's a nice seasonal indication too, you'll know just by looking at what's on offer in abundance, indicating the coming season and every time you visit there's bound to be something on special. This store also has a small cafe and playground towards the end where outdoor furniture meets garden centre is. As you would expect, things are well laid out and sign posted although as its a huge, huge store, I usually just ask the staff specifically where the things I'm looking for are. Whilst Bunnings is strictly not high-end, majority of the products are of very high quality and you do get named brands as well. This place, continues to bleed me dry on the weekends! How could you not buy at least something when you come here?!

This is my local hardware store, and for one or two items, I will come here before going to one of the big box places. On my most recent visit, I received advice on how to go about my project (stripping paint form door furniture) in an alternative way, and suggestions about who may be able to provide plating services and lock parts. With a history as a sawmill (the last operating hardwood mill in the metropolitan area according to them), this show stocks a selection of lumber that honours it's pedigree. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it in. But they probably have it. It can be a little difficult to get a specific make or model of some products as the range is not as great as with mega box shop, but these guys have everything you need. Great range of plants and vegies for the outdoors-inclined.

My local Bunnings…read more Despite renting, there's always some little thing that needs done. Kids marked up the wall, want to get a few hooks to hang a picture... always something. For being one of the smaller Bunnings, they do have pretty much everything. I also find their customer service seems to be a little better too. The staff are quite knowledgable, and there seems to always be someone around. If you're in the area and need some hardware... :)

Needs tips? Ask the staff. For us home improvement novices big warehouses full of stock can sometime be overwhelming, that's where Big Buzz can help. Don't get me wrong Bunnings is great, but sometimes you just want a downscaled hardware experience. Clearly that's not just my view as this hardware store can get downright busy come warmer months so join the queue and show your home how much you care.

I cannot recommend Complete Kitchens. Our experience was marred by a critical design flaw that…read morerendered our new kitchen essentially unusable. The layout meant the fridge door could only open to 85 degrees. Worse, with the adjacent pocket door open, the fridge handle collided with the pocket door handle, risking immediate damage and preventing full use of the fridge drawers. At 85 degrees, the fridge was not functional. Despite providing all appliance specifications when requested, including fridge dimensions, Complete Kitchens failed to ensure the design allowed the fridge to operate as intended. This was particularly frustrating given we had clearly stated that functionality for a family of five adults was our top priority, followed by aesthetics, especially important in our open, plan living area. When we raised concerns, Complete Kitchens refused to accept this as a design issue. In my opinion, Director Alex was particularly difficult to deal with: he was dismissive, repeatedly bypassed our questions, and offered the same inadequate response each time "if you want to open the fridge door, just shut the pocket door first. " No effort was made to explore practical solutions, and he showed no willingness to engage meaningfully with the problem. I felt his tone throughout was condescending and rude. We independently investigated alternative door configurations, none of which resolved the issue due to the height of the cupboard, not something that was discussed as potentially problematic earlier in the design phase. Complete Kitchens' only suggestion was a costly and invasive fix: to cut into the freshly painted, load-bearing wall, move studs, and engage structural engineers, all at our own expense. There was no indication in the original drawings that the pocket pantry door would protrude 154mm beyond the bench when open, nor any warning that it would interfere with fridge functionality. When we questioned the visual impact during a site visit, we were told it would be "hardly noticeable", but the functional impact was never raised. We spent several weeks without a functioning kitchen while Complete Kitchens delayed. Eventually, we redesigned the area ourselves, making several intentional changes to maintain the appliance space but split the height with more appropriately sized shelves and cupboards. This redesign added $8,000 to the original cost. Complete Kitchens not only delivered a flawed design but also failed to take accountability and respond professionally when we raised legitimate concerns. We were left to fix their oversight at significant cost. We were also deeply unsettled by the confrontational communication we experienced. It became clear to me why Alex is not involved in the initial client engagement process. Buyer Beware!

Not only were they prepared to tackle our smaller job, we felt like it wasn't a chore, that they really wanted to help us enhance what we already had, not just make a few quick bucks for a small job they could fit in on the side. They came out, they measured, took notes and drew sketches. Our 'purchase order' looked more like a plan for a whole kitchen rebuild rather than a few extra bits. Sure, we had to wait till they had a gap in their schedule, but even with a full build, I would have expected that. On install day, the team arrived on time, installed quickly and professionally and then cleaned up afterwards! You can't ask for better than that!
