Found a shoe my son liked wait for someone to check shoes size... waited for like 10 mins I flagged some down asked him about the shoes size he went and got it then walked off waited 10 more mins then a guy said he didn't work in that department but he would go check... 10 more mins go by I see a customer that was helped and he walked off to go buy his shoes no problem. See a lady and her husband get a pair of shoes and go about their way... the guy came back gave me the shoes they fit and he turn and said I have to walk these shoes up to the register.... I said oh now that I have two pairs of shoes I get and escort to the register but 40 mins ago I couldn't even get someone to help me now I have some funky shoes yall have the secret service escort me to the front! My boys this is money we are spending and we didn't have to take this half ace service being given to us... turn to the guy and said thanks but no thanks we will go someone where else where we are a priority! Went to the other shoes store JDs and 10/10 compared to what dicks gave us... bought 4 nice pairs of shoes and if dicks keep it up they can cancel me cause I won't shop where my dollar isn't worth it. Half of these kids working don't even wanna be there... but are hired on the spot just to give their shifts away.... Wake up it's only a matter of time they will all be replaced... they got two stars because they're some good employees there the service that say was the worst by far.

As I passed the checkout counter where no one was at I placed an empty 1oz sample mall tea cup on the counter to have a hand available for shopping. I thought this would be better than taking a chance of accidently sitting it down somewhere else in the store. I left it there as I didn't see a trash can. My Girlfriend, I and her son went to the back of the store to pick out clothes for him for Christmas. We took a shirt to checkout and a different employee came to the counter to check out with my girlfriend. While checking out, the employee rudely and aggressively told me that I had to take the cup because their trash was full. I took the cup and stood waiting. During the checkout I noticed that the ~3 gallon garbage can was full but had an empty paper bag on top that could have held hundreds of these tiny little cups. My girlfriend was so offended by the employee's actions she took the cup from me and placed it on the table as she walked out of the store. The employee saw the cup and came running and yelling at me. She ran past a Mall employee pushing a large dumpster while yelling and running thru the Mall. I stopped and took the cup from her and threw it in the dumpster as it passed. The PacSun employee made numerous extremely rude and mean gestures at me then and again when I walked past the store several minutes later. This employee is psychotic. What happened to polite customer service?

I got a long summer dress for $10 (half off sale), and a top for $5, as well as a cool blanket (the type you sit on at an outdoor concert) for $7.88. Bloomington-Normal doesn't have many sporting good stores. I personally don't know if any other…read morethan Dick's but I know that doesn't mean there aren't more. The few times I've shopped here, I walked out empty-handed almost every time. I mostly go there looking for things I can use at work. I carry a lot of stuff. I was able to find huge book bag for a decent price. It's made my work life so much easier. They only carry rifles so you'll have to go elsewhere if you want to purchase a handgun. I was hoping since they had rifles I might find a molle magazine holder for rifle magazines. I needed new tactical boots for work. A coworker told me how comfortable the Under Armor boots are. I checked out Dick's for them. They carry one set of Under Armor boots but only had 6 inches. I'm required to wear 8 inches. The worst part of the store is exiting if you didn't buy anything. You still have to navigate through the checkout lane area. If the checkout lane is busy then it's not an easy exit. I tried the entrance doors to see if they'd register me standing there but it didn't work. Luckily someone was coming in so I walked back out the front door. It's a minor inconvenience clearly but still noteworthy.

In addition to loads of athletic wear and clothing of good brands (but nothing really outside the box or above and beyond what I might have expected), they have a lot of merchandise in general. A big athletic shoe section, a freakishly large sandal aisle and all sorts of pool stuff to name a mere fraction of all they sell. Golf area is not extensive, but at least they have a golf section. Prices are not outlet or discounted, but they do have sale sections around the store. I liked the "Fan Store" area near the front selling IU, ISU, Colts, team ware of athletic programs in the Indiana area. So in defense of the $60 foam roller....it is kind of a fancy one with ridges and also exceptionally firm foam that I know will hold up to the test of time. It was actually the only full body one they sold, although they had lots of half size/smaller ones too for more targeted muscle rolling/stretching. So yeah, I had never heard of the Academy Sports + Outdoors brand, but I am a fan and would go back.

My entire experience was online. But after reading the reviews posted here, I can see why my experience was as poor as it was. ... The entire checkout process is riddled with shortfalls. 1) I was offered a $20 discount immediatly if I applied for, was approved for and used the assigned Academy charge card. I bit, was approved and was unable to utilize the card when I was directed back to the website because I didn't yet know the number. 2) I immediatly called and was told that there is no way for me to get the number and that it would be all right to place the order later. There would be a coupon for $20 off my next purchase inside the mailer with the physical card. I just needed to call after I placed that order and "customer service (hang on, I'm laughing hard right now) would apply the discount to my order. 3) I received the card and was surprised that it was not a $20 bonus but an offer of "up to 15% off my first order". 4)When I called to activate the card, I was drilled 4 times by the agent on the phone to take the "free for the first month" credit protection in exchange for a future discount (Academy and it's partners have not had a good track record so far). It wasn't until after the agent said he was going to put it on anyway and I threatened him to cancel the card immediatly that he stopped. IF I find it was applied, my attorney, Mike Miller of Miller, Fanucci and McGing will be reaching out to Academy and it's partners with an offer of a minimum of $100,000 settlement or the chance for a trial in Federal court. 4) The website would not accept the coupon and called "customer service (insert another belly laugh here)" and was informed that it is not procedure to do such a thing as edit an order to apply a discount. But, as a offer of good will, they would resquest someone to look at the order and make the necessary adjustment - but would not guarantee it would be done. When I told them to cancel the order, which they said could not be done, the agent agreed to apply a $20 credit. I have yet to receive a bill so we'll see what happens. I will be back to update this review if anything changes ... I think everyone I have spoken with so far is full of S#!T.
