Excellent shop. I've been going here for two years and I love the variety of beers you can get. They always have the zero gravity specials and it keeps it fun. Old standards are also always there. Incredibly friendly people inside. You'll get a hello! every time you walk in if the owner is working. I pick up cheese eggs milk bread etc when I'm in a pinch too. I'm moving out this week and told the shop owner. He gave me all the boxes I could ever want to help the process and I really appreciate it. Seriously good people. I've bought beer here a few times in a pinch. Sometimes it tastes awful, but I just figured I didn't like the beer I chose. Recently I bought one of my favorite beers. It was barely drinkable. If you live in the Brighton area, this convenience store is truly convenient! It has a whole variety of things like alcohol, simple groceries, and a good variety of drinks/snacks. I always go here to get simple pantry stuff or recently my lactaid milk and I think it also is relatively cheaper than other stores for these things. The guy at the front is also super nice and always saying "Hi" with the biggest smile ever so it makes you feel welcomed! This is my absolute favorite place to go. I live right down the street, with another market near by, but choose this one every time. My friend that owns is it the sweetest, kindest, most uplifting gentleman I've experienced in a convenience store. The store policy regarding the minimum needed to use your credit card changes as fast as the wind. The owner told me three different minimums over the course of one month, and did not have any info posted regarding credit card minimums. You can tell the store buys their products from other retailers like Costco and then jacks up the prices for you. Many of the products in the store are individually marked as "not for resale," but that doesn't stop the owner from trying to illegally sell those products to consumers. The prices are outrageous, probably due to them buying mostly from retailers, instead of suppliers. AVOID, and save yourself the trouble by walking to Cleveland Circle. read more

Typically has everything we need and if they don't they'll find it in the back or find something similar. They have a credit card minimum but when I was low on cash the owner offered to let me pay him back later. I never leave this place without a smile. read more

I was shopping with my black friend. I'm Asian by the way. Right when we walked in, the owner, an old Indian man, looked at us. The enitre time we were there, he kept staring at us as if we were about to steal something. I can understand from his point of view because we are two college students who also happen to be minorities; however, this does not give him a right to discriminate against us. We were planning on buying tissues because a lot of us have gotten sick and were getting sick. We were debating which brand would be the best value for its qunatity when the owner suddenly remarks that if we weren't going to buy anything, then leave. This ignorant and discriminatory remark left us astounded - in disbelief that another minority would have such a racist preset mindset for other minorities. We left the place immediately. I live right around the corner from Huntington and my husband and I love it. It's so incredibly convenient and the owner is so sweet. He recognizes us and always asks if we need help or if we've found what we were looking for. They've recently expanded the store to sell beer and wine and they have a great selection. It is a little pricey but that's to be expected for convenience in Boston. To address some of the other reviews: there are two Indian men who run the register. There's the younger guy (probably around 40) who is very sweet and friendly, and then another, older man (probably around 60) who is very quiet and looks stern. I don't believe he's mean, I think that's just his face. read more

I'll be the first to admit that it took me a good 7 months of living across the street from this place before I ventured inside. While it certainly is no-frills both inside and out, Huntington Market is a great corner shop offering up everything from the necessary staples to ping-pong balls at the register. It's cleaner than most convenience stores in the area and the owner has a charm about him that is more likely to be found in a small town than a big city. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of convenience stores and I have never seen a store with a better selection with better prices and with kinder staff. Last night I had a huge craving for Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles. Random, and incredibly inconvenient on a hot-as-balls night. THANKFULLY I can practically see Huntington Market from my window. I had been kind of avoiding this place since my first and only Huntington Market experience was at the sketchy-as-hell location actually located on Huntington in Mission Hill. This one resembles that one in name only, thank God. Yes, everything is a tiny bit expensive, but it's a corner store so you really need to expect that. I paid about 50 cents more for that bag of chips than I would have anywhere else. I'll gladly pay a 50 cent convenience charge to not have to walk to CVS when it's 90 degrees at 8 PM. I live next to huntington market and me and my roommates have always been wary about any food we bought there and our suspicions have been confirmed as over the last two days I have been struggling to recover from food poisoning which I immediately suspected to be caused by some eggs I bought there and ate the day it started and wouldn't you know it one of my roommates has just come down with the exact same symptoms after eating eggs from the same store he bought just today. While there is no way to prove it is the eggs that caused it you can rest assured I will never be purchasing anything from Huntingtons again. O and by the way we saw the owner unloading grocery bags from CVS onto his shelves so he clearly just buys stuff there and reprices it for two dollars more. With many other convenience stores located around, one wonders how Huntington Market manages to maintain it's high prices. But alas, I must tip my hat to the husband/wife/grumpy grandfather for keeping good old fashioned American capitalism alive. Huntington stocks a variety of products, all of which can be found at other nearby places for much less money. But you don't want to go to CVS. CVS doesn't smell like a hookah bar. What you pay for in Huntington Market is the experience. You never know what your going to get. If you get milk, you could get three days before it expires or you could be too late already. You could get food poisoning from the eggs. You just don't know. Those kind of thrills just simply cannot be found at other convenience stores. I'm grateful for Huntington Market. Just about the only thing you can expect is a warm "Hello my friend" from the owner. Everything else is an adventure. My one stop shop! Beer, wine, milk, ice cream, candles, batteries. Honestly what do they not have? Not only do they have everything you need they are the friendliest and sweetest shop owners. I've lived on this block for the last two years and I've felt fortunate to have this corner store a few steps from my door. I think the people writing negative reviews don't get the point. Of course the prices are high. These people eke out a meager profit because they only sell a small amount of things to people who live within a couple blocks. They probably don't do enough volume to buy from a commercial supplier who would sell things to them at a lower price. The point is, that for a small corner convenience store, they do a very good job of stocking a wide variety of items and keeping those stocks current - there's always a few of everything. I'm always able to find milk or eggs where the expiration date is at least a week away. The other day I realized that I wanted gravy to go with some roast turkey I'd bought at Trader Joe's - no problem - Heinz turkey gravy was among the sauces and condiments Huntington Market stocks. I was able to grab it and in 45 seconds be back in my apartment eating my dinner. The family that runs this store does a good job of being aware of what the clientele in their neighborhood wants, and stocking a good variety of it. And, the husband/wife/grandfather that work there are always very friendly. read more

I recently purchased a bottle of wine here, and I was walking home the bag ripped and the bottle smashed on the ground. No funny business, just a simple accident. I went back and the clerk was extremely mean about it, trying to tell me I had carried it wrong, and that I was my fault. All I wanted was a simple refund, and I just felt like an idiot as I walked away. Very unfriendly service here and I don't recommend. Also, the clerks are always on the phone while processing orders. I stop here once in a while. I would shop here more but the customer service is very poor. However the last time I visited this store I purchased a pack of Cigarettes and when I opened them the glue holding the pack together was so old the pack started to fall apart. Then when I took one out I noticed that the cigarettes were yellow. Normally paper white. They were also very very hard and stale. I did not smoke any & When I tried to return the pack for a refund or even a fresher pack the man was about to do it, then the other older man started flipping out on me. Screaming that it's not his problem and it's the company. Which obviously was not true. I'm sure they were fresh 5 years ago when they got them. I took the yellow cigarettes and left. I will never return to this store. If they have no problem selling old cigarettes I bet they have other merchandise such as food that is old too. Save yourself the trouble of bad merchandise and horrible customer service and go somewhere else. You'll be happy you did! read more
