I contacted NAC to enquire about…read morelessons, and they assigned a swimming instructor, Diego, to come to the Retirement Village where I live, to coach me in our Village pool. From our first lesson, I was very impressed with Diego. He is professional, punctual, patient, and he explains and demonstrates techniques well. He challenges me to do better, which I like, but is never pushy. I had no idea just how much there is to learn about swimming, but with only 6 x half-hour lessons, I have already learned so much from Diego. With each technique learned, I have grown more and more confident in the water, and as my confidence grows, so does my belief in myself. I am also a very tense person, but swimming is teaching me to relax more. Apart from the convenience of being able to learn to swim in my own surroundings, I was impressed with the ease with which all arrangements were made online. The founder, Nikos, with whom I have also had contact, is very helpful and accommodating. All in all, my experience with NAC has been excellent and I am so happy to have found them! Wonderful gym - probably the best in the area. Equipment is the most up to date that I've seen at a…read moregym with TV monitors on each individual treadmill etc. Loads of room and lots of unique machines which I haven't used before. Separate area for Crossfit is also a great idea. Large swimming pool which is a bit too cold for my taste and the children. Jacuzzi is enormous with 4 lie down seats with jets down the length of your body. Awesome! Changing rooms are very clean, showers are powerful and the lockers have a 4 digit pin code that you choose each time you lock them. Virgin App is cool for booking into classes and your children into the Crèche. Parking - this is where the club lets itself down and loses a star from me. Virgin own the top floor for parking but the businesses in Norwest use it for their clients which means you are circling for 20 mins trying to find a spot during the day which is really frustrating when you only have 40 mins for a workout. Shower & change room facilities are great complete with GHD straightners and hairdryers. The staff are friendly, the cafe offers a good amount of variety and the facilities are always clean. The only reason this isn't a 5 star-er is because classes are incredibly popular and often hard to get into via the online booking system. You can only book 7days & 4 hours in advance and for a gym bunny like me, a max of 6 class bookings just doesn't really seem fair - I pay for unlimited access why can't I have unlimited classes? Ps - the car park is right there and included with membership.

I mean, I've tried so many I haven't even had a chance to review them... and may never do so! I thought the place was awesome on first impression. $3 sign up fee, $11.95 per week AND I still get to bring a friend whenever I want, like Fit n Fast! How great is that? Yay! You can also just do a $6.95 membership, but you get no classes and you can't bring a friend. I asked the guy how the hell he would know who is doing classes or not. He didn't really have an answer. For the record, I wouldn't do that, but it crossed my mind and I'm smart ass, so I had to ask :) The facility itself is huge and awesome. It has 2 smith machines and 2 squat racks, which is kind of a big deal for me. Tons of open space and cardio equipment and classes I would actually do! I'm not a big class person and I don't fucking zumba, OK? But here they have RPM, TABATA CLASSES, yoga and hip hop dance... I would do a hip hop dance class for shits and giggles, and bring my friends! Hehe. It sounds fun. If I joined. But I didn't. The members... are AWFUL here. It's really crowded at all times of the afternoon and the Jersey Shore rejects that train here NEVER put away their weights and have no concept of personal space. I'm pretty unflappable in the gym, but these dudes look at me like "bro? who is this chick in OUR space lifting big weights?!!"... I almost expect one of them to bark at me to get back in the kitchen. Tee hee. I actually have a shirt that says I should be in the kitchen. I should train here again one day and wear it! No, the deal breaker for me was that from about 3pm, you can't turn right into the spotlight center from the Princes Highway. So when I get out of the gym, I have to head further south and get lost and annoyed south of Rockdale. The gym was cool, but not cool enough for that. Plus the Jersey Shore neanderthals. Very unnappealing traiing environment. Just no!
