Best Indonesian restaurant in Adelaide; Ambience: vey quiet place with traditional paintings all over and with a low pitch Country music.. Staff: Very very friendly.. The girls are good and humble. They always were asking if we were happy with the food and served tap water (our choice) and sambal at no extra charge. Food: I ordered a Nasi Goreng with some extra chilli .. It was pretty good. I couldn't complete it as the quantity was so much but I couldn't waste it as well !!! One of the mates got a slow cooked beef curry with rice ... Me not being a fan of beef Items tried it once and it was so nice that I had to munch bits and pieces of beef from the mates plate !! Price wise I am not too fussed to go there once or twice in a month !! I had a Nasi Goreng, a Bintang beer and a nut sundae ice cream which costed me 30$... Not so bad isn't it ?? !!! Liquor: not a big range of Beer.. Please please try the Bintang with lemon... Pretty good !!

The pleasing and relaxing interior of the restaurant.

Gong Gong Makan Place. It literally means Grandfather's eating place…read more The restaurant is at the back renaissance arcade, right opposite the dumpling place. The restaurant is pretty big. A look at the menu shows the common dishes of Malaysian cuisine. Tonight, I ordered a combination laksa, a combination hor fun, Lor Bak(Five spiced fried pork with corn starch) , Milo dinosaur(cold milo with extra milo powder on top) and Black and White(Also called 'Cham' in Nanyang cafe... a mixed of glass jelly and soy bean milk). One taste of the hor fun, and you can tell it has similar taste to Nanyang cafe's version. However, I felt that this restaurant's dishes are a bit more saltier. The laksa soup is thick curry laksa, which I like how my laksa to taste. However, I do find that the bean curd that they uses definitely are not the freshest around. I also find that the Milo dinosaur that they sell isn't the drink they are advertised as. The milo dino doesn't have milo powder on top of the drink!!! It's a SIN! okok, not that serious. Still, the place provided an alternative choice for malaysian cuisine lovers.

Serving a mix of ready to go items like Rendang Curry, Braised Beef and Crispy Pork Spare Ribs (battered in sauce), also a range of made to order rice and noodle dishes. Today I thought I'd try the BBQ roast Duck (I have trouble resisting some good duck) and it was OK. I tried it with dried noodles rather than rice. It came out to the table almost instantly as the place was not busy. It came out to the table looking very nice. but when I started to eat it I was disappointed. The Bok Choy served under the duck was cold and the noodles were sticking together. The duck itself though was tasty and very typical of the Asian style BBQ Roast, yummy crispy skin and juicy flesh... I'll give this place another go in the future.

Apparently this take away place used to be a restaurant in Gouger Street for around 20 years but…read morehave somehow decided to leave the hussle and bussle to run a small restaurant in the western suburbs. And by small I mean 2-3 tables seating around 8 maximum! Maybe less. The food here is predominantly Malaysian but you could say it has some Singaporean and Indonesian due to some dishes being made and known in those countries also such as beef rendang and nasi goreng etc. I've dined in once when they first opened, the food was really good then, especially the curry puffs and I've also ordered take away a few times. Some have been good, others a little meh. Nothing has been awful though. Just a lacking in flavour and certain ingredients (like meat in the char kway teow, 5 slivers of beef is not enough). The kway teow has that wonderful wok flavour but doesn't have the flavour punch I'm so used to cooking mine at, along with lack of ingredients. On this occasion my partner ordered the roast duck curry. It wasn't very spicy and the sauce was anaemic in colour. It was all coconut cream and very little curry paste. The bowl was about 3/4 sauce and 1/4 vegetables and duck (4 medium chunks). Like I said it wasn't in-edible just could do with a little more care and attention to detail like flavour and quantity of ingredients in a dish so that customers do want to keep coming back.

Today was the Grand Opening, which saw a massive line of hungry punters waiting to try their signature noodles. The 50% off special no doubt. helped ;) Simply put, it is an Indonesian noodle takeaway shop which boasts house-made ingredients from the noodles to the sauce. Bakmi Lim allow you to customise your noodle box with limited variations. Step 1: select from the two noodles available - traditional and spinach (however, only the traditional was available today). Step 2: Pick your topping(s) - soy chicken, roast pork, BBQ Pork or mushroom and tofu Step 3: Sides such as wontons or beef balls are optional extras Step 4: Pick a beverage - sweetened tea, pandan soy milk or chrysanthemum tea As most things were sold out, all I could try was the traditional noodles with a tiny bit of soy chicken (all that was left) and the mushroom and tofu. I picked the pandan infused soy milk which was served hot. I would have preferred the cold, but it was sold out. Despite a disappointing first impression, when we got our noodles, served in a cardboard box, we tucked heartily into it. It was sooo yummy. I love the texture of the noodles - very "al dente" and FRESH! The flavours was on point and the chilli paste / sauce only served to enhanced the experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Interior was airy and light. However, enough with the tiled walls, but I do appreciate the pendants which was made using upside down porcelain noodle bowls. Will be back for sure!!!
