I searched online for podiatrists and based on the 5 star ratings I chose Dr. Anita Onufer even though it was more of a drive to her office. She deserves more than 5 stars! What a thorough, skilled and kind doctor she is -- I was so impressed. She numbed my toe and removed the deep ingrown nail without any pain felt by me. Was misdiagnosed with gout, and then a stress fracture without any signs on an ex-ray. Dr. Steve Markantone took the time to examine my foot, reviewed the ex-rays and gave me a clear diagnose, the first time. No more out of pocket co-pays for me :-). However, my request was met with resistance by the doctor's female assistant who insisted I return to his office for an office visit in order to accomplish this. This new requirement of an additional office visit was not consistent with what Dr. Vess had told me initially: that I could call to provide feedback and request any adjustment to my new orthotics. I think requiring me to again travel to his office, PAY for another office visit, just to accomplish this simple adjustment to my custom made orthotics was overreaching and unnecessary. I will NEVER go back to him for this reason. Doc: get a better gatekeeper who understands how patients are affected by this abhorrent practice. You're trying to milk me and the insurance just so you can get income from another office visit, which is TOTAL bull.
