It's been awesome watching him learn to take risks, compete and be recognized for his efforts and skill. My twin "tigers" are also having a great time. They're very different boys with very different needs and aptitudes, and the school has been excellent at dealing with them on their own terms. I can also say that my experience at Southlake ATA has been personally transformative. At the age of 53, I've never felt more fit or in command of my body. I'm learning valuable self defense techniques, yes, but I've also greatly improved my functional mobility and physical confidence. More than anything I've made great friends and brought some wonderful people into my life and the lives of my children. The Reeds and their entire staff are models for what instructors should be: tough, knowledgable, demanding, empathetic, dedicated and humane. Very reasonable pricing, no contracts, tons of class times, and great people. All levels, from beginners to black belts, train here. The environment is very welcoming. Competition is encouraged but not required, and there are many very successful competitors here in different age ranges, weight classes, and belt levels. Focusing on the kid's side for this review: Started about 3 years ago with my 4 year old daughter. We came for a trial class and enjoyed it, so decided to keep training. Another big factor was the female ownership and strong female membership. I wanted my daughter to have those examples to look up to. We have never done any martial arts or wrestling before, so I wasn't sure how either of us would fair. My daughter loves her coaches and they really do a great job of keeping things fun yet disciplined and engaging. They all genuinely care about their students. They make sure everyone is safe and working together in a controlled way. Coach Jen and Coach Kat started her off with Wee Warriors and the basic skills. She has been able to move up and promote into the more advanced classes with Coach Kari and Coach Eli. She also loves helping with the younger kids whenever she can with Coach (and owner) Karen, Coach Eli, or Coach Jen. It's nice that all of the coaches generally work together and help eachother, and there are many other coaches that I am sure I am neglecting to mention who have contributed to my daughter's progress. The lessons are consistent no matter who is leading the class, and generally build on the previous lessons or review skills already taught. Plenty of private and small group lessons available as well for extra training if desired. The more my daughter participates and engages with her coaches, friends, training partners, and other competitors, the more she enjoys being at Genesis Jiu Jitsu. She genuinely looks forward to it and misses it when she can't go. Come on in and join the Genesis family!

The owner Mrs. Muegge in my opinion is one the best teacher of taekwondo to kids in the DFW area.. She has patience, discipline, perseverance and can work with kids with all ages and most importantly attitudes. She builds up their self-confidence with a "Let's Go! Let's Go! You can Do It!" Attitude. And you can tell the kids listen and respect her My daughter (10 years old) has been coming here since January of 2024 every week. Taekwondo is one of the highlights of her week. She is Green Belt Recommended. She Loves to spar, compete, practice and join in competitions. She really wasn't competitive before joining, but now she really is, which is great. There are adult classes too, which I should checkout myself, cause I know I would learn a lot. Overall if you want your kiddo of any age, (or you for that matter.) to build up some self confidence, discipline, get some exercise in, and put down the iPad, then Colleyville ATA is the place for you and your family. Super knowledgeable instructor, incredibly friendly school!…read more Dropped in today since I was in town for work. Nathan let me borrow a gi and welcomed me on the mat, no questions asked. What I like about his teaching style is that he will teach positionally, i.e. he will go over the options from a given position, and then transition into letting students get a feel for what option is "correct." This is perhaps the best way for students to develop a good game and is surprisingly rare to see in a lot of schools. I recommend training at Sloth BJJ for anyone in the area! Friendly vibes and no intimidating egos here!
