The pleasant Hill iowa Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh is the best gas station I've been to! Employees are super friendly especially this guy named Scott C. He is a rockstar! I drove up there to get ice and a couple other things. The doors were locked at 10pm. I have lived here in pleasant hill for 18 years and never had a problem getting what I needed there. If this continues I plan on not stopping there for anything else. This is a bunch of bullshit! read more

I would give the staff a 5 star. But the food was mediocre. The deli changed from self serve to a market restaurant and now back to a deli with market prices. I think it's confusing to customers. They have a bar, but It is always empty, I have a feeling that will be gone soon too. read more

This is one of those times where I wish there were half star ratings, because Hy Vee is a good grocery store, but I feel like there's more that they could do to get to the 4 and 5 star level. First off, the addition of the Market Cafe restaurant in a grocery store is genius. This particular store is starting to get more organic options in the produce area and in the aisles. There's a full service bakery, meat counter and deli. I would however like to see them put more emphasis on bringing in more locally sourced items, and continuing to expand the organic options. I would like to see a more expansive floral and pharmacy department, as these areas are kind of an afterthought in the Pleasant Hill store. read more

Been coming here for nearly a year and a half recently transplanted to the state of Iowa. Had a few issues in the past. On two occasions, have purchased rotten chicken, almost made the same mistake with chorizo, which was weeks expired on the shelves. Another incident was questioning the weight of a pre-weighed steak sold in the meat counter which felt light and when weighed in wrapping at the vegetable scale still showed underweight. I brought this to the attention to the checker, and blew me off. Wasn't worth going forward with a dollar or two at that time. Not to mention several purchases in beer and wine where the beer was clearly expired. According to one of their managers, the normal procedure is to discount expired beer and not contact the distributor to replace bad product. All of these issues are of a quality and safety concern that shouldn't go ignored. Today, as small of an issue as if was, was my last straw. Been a long day, and looking for a good value for a meal for everyone in the house visiting from out of state. Went to the website and saw the stores own advertisement for a daily special of 10 dollars for unlimited wings in the market cafe. went to go purchase and said there was a change to call it "market express" with this change there is no longer daily specials, this advertised special was not honored by the department. Nor is there any indication posted anywhere that this is their new policy. I asked to speak to a manager, some line cook spoke to me instead, and told me the same. I asked to speak to the store manager and said he wasn't available, and didn't know when his next shift was. But offered to have me speak to a perishable foods manager. I asked for the store managers name and number, and was short with me and physically appeared upset but was at least courteous. I will call the store manager tomorrow to discuss all these issues. If they aren't resolved in a reasonable manner, my next steps is to contact Hy-Vee corporate offices, Iowa department of food and consumer safety, and my friends at a few larger scale breweries that sell their products to advise them of their practice, and expose these concerns repeatedly in a multitude of very public forums, until someone answers to a much larger concerned party. People make mistakes, and should do their best to correct them without forcing their hand. I would much prefer this to other methods. read more

Bakery - I picked up this morning, the worst cinnamon twists and long johns I have ever had in my life (and I'm 62!)! They are tough and baked WAY too long. We bought 6 and after a couple of bites of tearing them with our teeth like a tough steak, we threw them away. Bad! read more

the market cafe is a bad business design. It made their cafeteria not more of a local help yourself seat and feel at home and be comfortable instead the hyvee planner made it to uncomfortable to get a table to get your food and seat down where you want to. I miss the old way !!!! read more

Hy Vee Market Cafe Pleasant Hill. The grocery store should have 5 stars. Great caring staff wonderful customer service. The weakest link is their market grill. Wife went in to pick up breakfast. Yes the bfast burrito was good. But was missing side of bacon and received potatoes instead and the cost was 12.00. I would have gave more stars but this was just the tip of the iceberg. I shop there 2 plus times a week and use to grab food from the market grill to go but orders are wrong, food quality is hit or miss. You can flip a coin to see if Food was going to be good or not. As the cook hands me the Togo bag he stops and yells has this order been paid for like I am trying to steal food. And prices!! I know Hy Vee wants to be known as a upscale grill but it's Hy Vee. I am looking for good, quick, comfort food at a good price. If I want a expensive sandwich or breakfast I want a sit down with full service. Please help your grocery store and fix your market grill or close it down. Today at noon I went to the Market Cafe. Me and my boyfriend ordered burgers. I love this place. We come here almost weekly for either breakfast or brunch or something and I've never really had a bad experience. but today was an exception. our server was more worried about talking to her friends that came in and getting on her phone back by the drink station then she was concerned about us and then I ordered a brisket burger this is an amazing sandwich I asked for it medium well for $14 medium well should be handled as medium well. I was a little amazed at when I got it, it was a rock hard party burned beyond belief. Now normally when you go to a restaurant when your food comes out you take a bite and as soon as you put the food in your mouth a server comes over and ask you how your food is and you replied with a mouth full of food.. unfortunately the server did not come by and asked us how our food was so I SAT there with a burnt burger on my plate for about 25 minutes then she came over and asked if she could get me a box! not how is your food? .. not would you like a refill on your tea? But would you like a box.. for that I was floored there was only one bite taken out of my burger and I SAT there for 25 minutes and she didn't get the hint that there was a problem ...... so moving on my boyfriend ordered a burger with garlic mashed potatoes. odd combination yes I know this when he got his burger it was extremely under-cooked and his garlic mashed potatoes were almost potato soup not a good day for HyVee market. I did end up telling the server and she said sorry... but no attempt at fixing the problem. Last meal that we will have ever gotten from there. .. read more

First off, not everything is bad about this store. If I'm looking for something usually I can find someone to ask for help but they usually don't ask me which is what HyVee emplyees including managers need to be doing to keep customers. Today, nearly like every other visit, it was the customer service that is completely lacking. The manager at the customer service helped a lady get 2 money orders and told her he was only going to charge her for one (for whatever unknown reason). Then it's obviously my turn and he asks who is next. Time to wake up, bub. Possibly the store manager. The next employee comes up and helps me with my package that I need sent. No way did it weigh 2 lb & 8 oz (it weighed 6.2 oz). I understand they aren't a postal service, but this has happened nearly every time. So I ended up just driving the extra 5-10 blocks to go to the post office, which isn't much better but at least their scale is as accurate as my $10 digital scale. It's just unfortunate that this is one of the few options in this area. I can now understand if they have a hard time keeping decent workers. read more

THIS location gets a big R for review and RACIST... everytime I go in there I am never greeded never asked if I need help and witness all the employees are caucasian white. I was in line stuck because the frustrated cashier was annoyed with me since I didnt just want to buy my paper towels instead of me getting my coupon. I was "holding up the line" she kindly stated to the customer behind me and then started conversing with him all cheery and nice completely shutting out the fact I am still the current one intransit at the line. Gave her my rewards member card, she mis pronounces my name ASSUMING what it was and I had to correct BOTH HER AND HER MANAGER. once they rudely solved my coupon error I said thank you have a good day, not them!
