    a plate of food

Server Her name is a very bubbly Sheryl. Please forgive me if I spelt it incorrectly. Atmosphere It's a store Cafe type restaurant Food For starters, the coffee is Very good. When my order arrived I was taken aback by the portions. Wow. If you're hungry come here. There's a huge amount of potatoes . While they lack any substantive taste of their own. They are quite good. The ham n cheese omelet while not made to my order, was full of diced ham and had a very satisfying taste. The marbled rye toast was lightly toasted and complemented the entrée very well Overall My initial impression is this place, after tasting their fare is 4.5 stars, with service 4.5 stars, the food 4 stars, simply because they did not do it as I requested. I'm impressed enough with this place to return several times Military Yes with id

The service was superb! Went to get groceries...stopped in the Bar they have inside the store!!! Talked with Matthew - bartender and he was awesome! He kept our drinks on full. I want to thank the nice gentleman for taking great care of us... Busch lights were ice cold and on special.. The atmosphere was awesome! Sports were on TVs I will definitely return when in Manhattan again. Thank you for being awesome! Respectfully Bryan OKC

Best Bloody Mary in Manhattan, KS! The Sunday Special! Friendly service and great food too!

New specials ayce sushi now half off on Wednesdays.

At first I was afraid, I was petrified, thinking I could ever eat at a cafe inside...a grocery store. Hyvee Market Cafe is actually quite nice, in its own space inside the store. It has a full bar with drink specials, a regular menu, and then special nights. I have been to the AYCE sushi night 3 times. The first 2 times it cost $10.99 per person but last night I noticed a jump to $12.99. This is still cheap but I made a comment about it to the host and she did not even realize the price went up. There were a lot more sushi options than before so I would say the extra $2 is fine. Wednesday nights are forever "cheap sushi night" but honestly this is not supreme quality sushi and the rice is not remotely good (and sushi is all about rice). It is more for the novelty of it. Eric R. and I met newbies to town Jessica H. and Tyler L. for this experience (all 3 of them were first-timers to "cheap sushi night"). There were up to 12 different rolls available plus 2 chafing dishes with fried rice, crab rangoons, spring rolls and donuts. There is a bucket full of sauces for the sushi as well. The variety of rolls included salmon-mango, California, tuna-avocado, eel-cucumber, salmon-avocado, spicy tuna, tempura sweet potato, spicy krab, wasabi and black tobiko coated California rolls. I have been there in the past and saw salmon-asparagus too. The rice on some of the rolls was hard. They are all inside-out rolls meaning the rice is on the outside and nori is on the inside. Overall, it is not for the sushi connoisseur, but rather for the novelty and price. Eric R. and I had hot green tea. I will note that service was amazing by Tyrone - I think he checked on us every few minutes and constantly got us new drinks and removed our plates. If you really want good sushi, go to Umi. If you want good service in a casual atmosphere and maybe a glass of local beer, stop by the Market Cafe some time.

Simple but good! The omelet guy could use some lessons, but the waitress rushed over and took it back with out any prompting when she seen it. It was burnt.... All staff was friendly and attentive. Prime rib, and shrimp in the line!!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GROCERY STORE! Has everything including Caribou coffee shop, pizza bar, Chinese buffet and post Office! Everyone is nice and friendly, produce is fresh and the store is clean. Deli has a wide variety as does the bakery, Everything is easy to find and the selection is great.

My Fit Start egg white omelette with OJ in a plastic cup.

This used to be a great Sunday morning breakfast spot but has been remodeled into an afterthought. Instead of servers, you now order at the deli counter and pick up your utensils at the door. My egg white omelette was $9 and smaller than the spread of my hand. The orange juice came out in plastic cups and is obviously concentrate with extra water. The Good Morning was not any better for $8. The best part was the toast from their in house bakery. There is a $9 buffet that looks less appealing than chow hall food. We are very sad to see the updated state of this restaurant. Even with a buy one,get one free meal coupon the $15 paid is to much. We will not be back. RIP Hyvee Market Cafe

I love Hy-Vee! I had never seen or heard of it before moving to Manhattan in 2013 but it was love at first sight and it reminded me of Whole Foods which I also love. After I had my baby in 2015, I couldn't find glass bottles anywhere and was so happy when I found them here! I currently have a gt's watermelon kombucha addiction and after checking many stores, this was the first place I was able to find it which was a major relief since I was thinking I would have to buy a dozen every time I went to Trader Joe's in K.C. (It's also at Walmart if anyone's looking) I love how they have complimentary bananas and Mandarin oranges for kids to snack on in the store. It's always a nice distraction for my three year old. They have a nice loose leaf tea section, local coffee and kombucha, and I always find something new that I want to try. I could browse all day! It's also nice having a coffee "shop" that isn't Starbucks. As much as I love Starbucks, I enjoy variety and I can already drink that while shopping at Dillons and Target.

    Never a clean table

Hy-Vee service and quality has definitely gone down hill. Food in the hot case is dry and crusty. Salad bar is sometimes old or depleted and not refreshed. I'm going less and less as I become more un impressed. I used to be a frequent visitor and their dining area is always a disaster.

    $85 cake

Absolutely the worst and most ethically questionable experience I have ever experienced at any type of business. The bakery incorrectly made the cake I ordered and made a more expensive cake than what was actually ordered. Instead of just price adjusting the extra $40 price different due to their mistake, Mary in the bakery said it was just too much of difference between the quality of the cake she made versus the cake I ordered. I spoke with the bakery manager Robert, who essentially said the same thing. I will note that Mary said she could "whip up the cake I wanted really quick." I was supposed to pick the cake up in 30 minutes and I would prefer a cake that wasn't rushed. I then spoke with Kyle the manager, who is the first one who actually acknowledged the inconvenience and said he would fix the issue and adjust the price to correct the issue. Once the cake was picked up it was very obvious that they either misrepresented how much more expensive and bigger the $85 cake they made was, or they gave me a cake that was "whipped up really quickly" as Mary described and passed it off as an $85 cake while misleading me to believe they were doing a price adjustment to correct their mistake. I called back to make sure this is the cake that's as referenced and quoted as $85 and they confirmed this is the cake that we spoke about being $85. Ethically this is just really unprofessional and morally questionable at best. If this is what this location wants to have represent their product as an $85 cake then so be it. I don't think trying to mislead customers into thinking you are doing them essentially a favor and fixing an issue to placate them and then doing the opposite and insulting their intelligence by thinking someone wouldn't notice is at all how a business should allow their employees to conduct themselves.

Specials menu! Also half prized wine Wednesday's!

The customer service here is unreal. The employees are nice, informative and knowledgeable, and always willing to assist. This location has an eat in area with a bar. The specials are outstanding and the food is better than most local restaurants. Everything is hand prepared. When ordering sushi they even customized my entire roll for me and it was DELICIOUS.

Store is great if you shop inside. Dillons has better grocery pickup as they keep food in a real freezer or fridge.

Before shopping, I stopped at the customer service "money services" counter to exchange a $20 bill for two $10s. I was told that the cashier could not open the cash drawer for change only (even though I've exchanged cash at the west Dillons in the past). So I left and went to Hy-Vee where they gladly changed the $20 bill. And I was able to do all my grocery shopping at Hy-Vee. Great friendly customer service at Hy-Vee. Clearly Dillons is not big on customer service.

This young man always has a smile on his face and gives you his full attention when waiting on you. I have shopped with Dillon's store since Safeway closed. After Covid their turnover rate is high. I would say this is causing some of the bad reviews. Customers and employees don't have time to interact. I am a personable patron and like to speak with employees and other customers. One thing Covid did was to learn to be patient. I always check out with an employee. I am not a fan of the self check out. I have had bad service with both store employees and customers. We are all in this together and we should treat everyone how we would like to be treated. I believe most people like to be acknowledge and when shopping I like to call employees by their names. This works two ways. Customers need to be polite to other customers. This can be as simple as saying thank you, your welcome, moving over so someone can get past you. I hope management can notice the employees like Maskas and others who are a joy to have on staff. It would be nice to do something for these employees and maybe help with the turnover. Julie L.
