Great customer service! Called midday to see if it was possible to have flowers delivered that same afternoon, fully expecting a "that's impossible" response. The man I spoke with was so understanding and accommodating and was able to get a gorgeous lily bouquet together and delivered to my mom (whose cat, Lily, had to be put down that day) within a few hours. That level of service and the quality of the product is why Hyacinth House has been in business for so long and will continue to be a go to spot for floral needs. I have had such good experiences with this florist, I cannot recommend them enough. We had a death in the family and we were traveling at the time. I was able to call and give them a price point, the details and when I needed it delivered while allowing their artists to do what they do best. They asked if any special flowers should be included, took my answer down and incorporated them into the design. As a family we all felt that what was sent was well worth the cost. The next day, I found out from the patient the flowers never arrived. Pam at Hyacinth House had a record that they were delivered and followed up with the hospital for me. When the flowers could not be found, she prepared a second arrangement and had it delivered ASAP and at her expense. The flowers arrived and definitely made the day brighter for the patient. I grew up in this area and then moved away for a few years. I remember when it was VanPeenan's as my family always went there for any floral need. When I moved back 17 years ago I found myself right back where my family always frequented. I was not disappointed..talk about the selection of plants, flowers, succulents, hanging baskets, garden statues or anything else that you need. They are definately your one stop shop!! Oh and by the way..they also have the TOP NOTCH EMPLOYEES that not only will help you with your selection and answer any questions that you may have. If you think you have a stupid question...not here...they will go above and beyond answering until you understand. What's more...I have taken numerous plants in there for help. I feel they are the hospital for plants. They are MORE than willing to help. Jim has more than once assisted in my jade plants and helping to tie them to grow unbelievable. Pam and RJ are more than helpful. I have never had the customer experience from another flower shop as this one. The minute I walk in the door I am greeted and I really feel like they cherish my business. I think we all cherish a business that makes us feel like we are very important and they want to do their best. This is DEFINATELY the flower shop you need to visit and make your one and only. I understand that there are other locations that sell flowers and everything else the Hyacinth House sells also. I will guarantee you will not have the experience nor the quality when you purchase from those establishments. I bought a great Yucca plant (and other plants) about 4 months ago (now) from very nice/helpful lady Becky (In the Greenhouse area). Plant was doing well, was Happy and was watering once every 2/3 weeks and then both stems started getting yellow leaves/dropping, etc. They nicely asked me to bring in (they say over-Watered), nurse it back and will look after it for about 2 weeks or so (owner Jim was taking care of me on this) - that was nice of them and Appreciated that. Have it back, the tall Stem is doing great, new growth, etc but the smaller 1 No growth at all, no leaves, etc. Will check Root Bulb to see if salvageable or needs to be Removed, etc? I just called them this morn talked to a Emily (I have talked/seen her before), I was just asking a couple of questions, she didn't have an answer to 1 of them (was asking Jim for clarification who was standing right next to her, I could hear him), then she just Hung-Up on me! I called back, Jim answered, I explained Emily just Hung-Up on me. Jim said (quote), "We and I Don't have the time to take and Answer all your questions. We have other customer's and things to do all day"! I understand them being busy and can't spend all day on the phone (but I only had a couple of questions, no big deal), however I have NEVER been Hung Up like that (Assume, Jim told Emily to Hang Up on me, too busy) and/or told that from an Owner/Manager. BUYERS BEWARE, THIS OWNER, ETC, (EXCEPTION IS: BECKY), HAS NO COMPREHENSION OF HOW TO SPEAK/TREAT PAYING CUSTOMER'S (I ALSO, OVER-HEARD A SIMILAR CONVERSATION FROM JIM, WHILE ON PHONE, LAST TIME I WAS THERE, UP FRONT IN OFFICE AREA). JIM ALSO (I HAVE HEARD HIM A COUPLE OF TIMES, WHEN IN THE STORE), HAS A RATHER VULGAR VOCABULARY, UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER AND USES PROFANITY, RIGHT OUT IN THE OPEN! I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER PLANT OR GO INTO THE BUSINESS AGAIN, THEY CERTAINLY "LOST" ME AS A CUSTOMER AND I WILL LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW AS WELL! Sadly, this is How this business owner/manager Jim perceives is OK and treatment of his Customer's! YOU NEED US (CUSTOMER'S and LOYAL CUSTOMER'S), WE "DON'T NEED YOU JIM"! I ordered flowers for my daughter-in-laws mother's funeral. What a disaster and embarrassment. I ordered their all white funeral arrangement with a large angel as the focal point. Their website shows 3 larges roses, a large angel and tall flowers around the angel. What I got was an embarrassment. First, there was no card attached. I'm actually thankful for that because I didn't want my name attached to the arrangement. The card attached had a different florist name on it -- Hyacinth something. Third, there were no roses, no angel, rather a cupid, and no tall flowers. I called from the church twice because I truly believed they didn't send my order. Both times I was put on hold for TEN MINUTES and they never came back. After the funeral was over an I called for the third time, I was told I needed to send them a photo. By that time it was too late. We had left the funeral. To make matters worse I actually ordered the premium arrangement -- $122.00. It looked more like a $29.99 special. I would have been better off going to Kroger. DON'T ORDER FROM THEM! read more

Stopped it to pick up some flowers for a co-worker and they didn't have a lot of pre-made bouquets available, but the ones they did have were nice. They let me walk in the greenhouse to see their potted plants and they had some AMAZING greenery and potted plants! I wanted to send my aunt in Lansing some flowers. Since I live in Ann Arbor and wanted them delivered same day, I used my trusty yelp. I'm so glad that I did. I picked hyacinth house vanpeenen's flowers because its excellent review from another out of towner sending flowers from a phone order. I think the manager was named Pam (?) and she was super nice. I told her what arrangement I saw online and she knew what I was talking about right away. I asked if I could add some iris flowers (Glada was an award winning iris queen in gardening) and the arrangement was still very affordable. I called around 1pm and requested the flowers to be delivered before 5:30pm so I wouldn't disturb their dinner. At around 3 or 3:30 we got a very pleased phone call from my aunt, telling us they were going to go get some iris for Glada, when our arrangement showed up with iris in it already. Flowers are so nice to get, and it feels so good to send them. I'm really happy I found this place and I hope I get another chance to use them (hopefully in happier circumstances, obviously.) this place is so affordable, it makes sending "just for fun" flowers a lot more tempting. read more

We ordered a flower arrangement from Hyacinth House. They were told exactly what we wanted as our family was grieving from losing a mother and daughter with 24 of each other. We paid over $200 for what we wanted and that was fine with us BUT what was delivered was unbelievable. I could have gone to Walmart got a vase for $5 and filled it with "purple daisy's"! When we went back to our florist here they called them to find out what happened as we were present when the order was put in. They hung up the phone on him! I chose from Hyacinth House's online offerings. I talked to a representative in person, who said they may have to make substitutions if certain flowers weren't available. I should have asked him to tell me what flowers they would send before placing my order. The arrangement was called "possibly pink," containing pink lilies, daisies/mums, and roses all in a light pink vase...very pastel. I picked that choice because of the pink. What was sent were bright purple daisies, bright pink roses (and not many of them) in a lavendar vase...not pastel. I was told nothing could be done because they still had the same flowers and that's what they'd send out again...no offer of a future bouquet, credit on my account...EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...will not return. read more

When I arrived at the funeral home, I found that the bouquet did not even match the amount of flowers shown for the cheapest offering and did not include the additional color. I order flowers through FTD. The florist got the order wrong. I paid 70.00 for carnation instead of roses. Next day they came back and deliver 3 roses and took the other flowers. Yep so basically still had a bunch of carnation. I found another flower shop in this city. I plan on using them next time. This was just real bad service. read more
