It struck me as a…read morepost-retirement hobby by an owner who justified his/her antique hunting to his/her spouse by pretending it generates income. I've been in zillions of vintage shops, but I've never seen a place with more "DO NOT TOUCH! ASK AT DESK TO SEE!" signs. The shoes, dresses, china, books... Everything was off limits. I was going to make a lovely collage of these plentiful signs, but, unsurprisingly, no photos allowed. Nothing was well maintained. Apparently the store owner is him/herself afraid to touch the merchandise, because nothing had been dusted or shined in decades. I'm sure the glassware and china would have looked lovely with some proper care. To boot, the prices were outrageous. I get that it's an "antique store" and not a flea market, but please. For example, a vintage travel bar set (suitcase with spots for cups and shaker) was listed at $195! I've been looking for a set like this, so I can confidently say that's 4x the prices on Etsy (not exactly a cheap spot) and 8x flea market and vintage bazaar prices for similar sets. Bottom line: overpriced and not great merchandise. (Besides, I'd never give my business to a store that was so offended by the notion that my touch might tarnish their wares.)

I wish I can give a zero rating for this particular store. My husband and I happened to come in…read moretoday on a not so busy Saturday afternoon. The old woman with the funny colored hair and way-too early for Halloween scary makeup looked up and barely acknowledged us. She barked at a couple of tourist for touching an item and followed everyone like a dog. She was so impolite to her customers that I felt so uncomfortable. I politely inquired if she carries any vintage cat items and again without bothering to make any eye contact she yelled "NO" - even though it was evident that she has a few all over the store. Talk about rude. I don't think I have ever been insulted like that. How unfortunate. I wouldn't mind supporting local deserving business but please don't buy anything from this store. The selections are mediocre, the owner is rude and you might get sick from the filthy store air. So beware everyone. I noticed also that she was not fond of people with foreign accents when she talked down to another couple who was merely looking at some item in her glass cabinets. I felt so sorry for them. I hope their experience with this store doesn't taint our image as being Californians. We're not at all like this lady. FOREIGNERS AND TOURISTS: if you're thinking of buying souvenirs, save your money and go to another store where you can be assured that you are getting fair and reasonably priced item. This is a definite tourist trap. The store itself smell like mold growing on the wall and very much like a thrift store. I know she's passing it as antique store but beware and read the reviews first before you go in. You'll find similar items in Goodwill stores. In fact there are better items in Salvation Army and Saver's store plus you will be giving to the needy. Whereas if you purchase her "vintage" item, she will most likely run with your money to buy more tacky and scary makeup. WARNING: don't be fooled by this lady. I will be calling the city of Sausalito and notify them that this is the kind of business that's representing their beautiful city and I sure hope that she won't be in business for long. Let's not support a business that advocate for UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE.

Black Friday?…read more Nobody wants to sit in front of a laptop getting their shopping done and even fewer people want to brave the traffic and crowds wherever people physically shop these days. Pretty much everything you can find at a mall you can find on-line (and vice versa) but sometimes you want things you didn't even know you wanted, and they can't be found easily at either of these places. Enter Custom House II. Everything in this small, hidden shop has had a previous secret life, probably in a Belvedere/Tiburon home. A cornucopia of stories hides behind each curio, each antique, each artwork, each thing you didn't know you needed. Until now. I stumbled into CHII recently and made deals on a statement necklace and a small art piece. Deals, you say? Yes, prices are marked and though this isn't Tijuana, the staff here is open to a little haggling over beautiful things and I found that charming. They made some sales, I got a nice deal, everyone was happy. If you're looking for something unique or just like looking, in general, make your way to CHII. Their location is as hidden as the secrets of their wares making it completely different than the usual Black Friday experience.

We knew the situation called for an immediate estate sale. A call to the YES Co proved to be a blessing. The owner of the company, Kevin Black, responded to our needs without hesitation when most would have declined the job. Every room was filled to capacity with all sorts of personal property including artwork, jewelry, electronics, kitchen accessories and a hospital bed that took up most of the space in the bedroom. To us it all seemed too daunting a task, but not to Kevin! Within two days Kevin and his crew organized everything for viewing, with like items paired together, and created pathways for people to walk around. It was amazing what they were able to do in such a short period of time considering the hundreds of items for sale. Kevin's attention to detail remarkably included very clear signage throughout the premises. The sale was a true success in every way possible! The YES Co is a well-oiled machine thanks to Keven and his crew. We highly recommend Kevin Black's company for handling an estate sale of any size. They are the best!! Thank you so much.

Kevin Black, the company owner, runs a well oiled operation, and enlists experienced staffers to move, organize, assemble by lots and type in order to create a 'store-like' environment within a home. Disposition and sale of items within our nearly 8,000 square foot home presented a challenge that was managed with efficiency by the YES company. Mr. Black and company spent a full week ahead the sale to break down, re-organize and place thousands of small to medium sized items from our various collections onto sale tables; provided safety and directional signage through-out the home for the sale dates; helped to coordinate a nearby parking lot for anticipated crowds; listed the larger furniture items on-line prior to the sale, recognizing nearly 35,000 marketing 'hits', and staffed the five consecutive sale dates with his experienced team. The YES company communicated regularly during the pre-sale process and during the sale week. The check-out process for buyers was seamless, efficient and safe, with all items leaving through a single, large exit from the home. The YES company also provided the boxes, packaging and bags for use by buyers in facilitating the post-sale departure. Our check reflecting the residual proceeds from the sale was processed expeditiously. The YES company ownership and staff clearly demonstrate the experience and confidence in accomplishing the sale goals, and we recommend them for your estate sale requirements.

She bought it in 1967 and had it reupholstered 18 years ago with beige silk brocade with very faint pink highlights. This couch was for guests when they visited. She passed and left it for me, knowing that I would take care of it. Even though it is beautiful, it is a very light color and I am concerned about that because I am going to use it every day so I had a cover made for it. This is where Pieced on Earth, Janet and her staff come in. I chose a deep green suede material. The first time I saw just one pillow completed, I almost cried. It is absolutely beautiful. She personally designed the covered for the rest of the couch adding customized touches that made it look so close to upholstered that I just had to hug it, I feel all the love she put into it. I discussed the history and she understood my desire to honor my mother and take care of it. Her attention to detail is a testament to her craftsmanship. She wanted to make sure I am happy. And I tell you she made me so very happy. I just wanted a customized slip cover. She discussed piping details with me, that I didn't even think of and how she secured the bottom looks almost like she removed the existing fabric and covered the frame. It is beautiful. She even detailed the base at the of the back of the couch cover. The curved section was a little tricky, but she took her time and looked at it checking with me to make sure, it was to my liking, I also told her it was too low for me. Solution, she had me order some 6 "wooden legs that look simply fabulous, like they were there all along. As we discussed the cover, I got a good feeling, she understood how important this process was for me. She is so personable and talented. I trusted her with a couch that has a lot of history and she respected it, took care of it and covered it with love. She is just the best and I am so glad I met her. Thank you Janet, and for choosing such talented artisans to assist you with your work. Your work represents respect, care and a high degree integrity. I have been enjoying my couch. It looks so good in my home. Thank you so very much!
