The first few year from 2019-2023 were great. They were attentive they cared they called to ask how the dog was my pup was excited to go here. The last 3 years I am asked to download an app every quarter of the year because they can't commit to their clients. Disappointed with the communication and organization at this clinic. In November, I brought my dog in for a general check-up, and during the visit I asked about his teeth, as he has a dental issue. I specifically asked about a dental cleaning without anesthesia. Dental cleaning with anesthesia was not discussed at all, as for me it was not an option. I was told that such procedures are usually done in January. I was given a printed Price Estimate for a non-anesthetic dental cleaning and provided with calming tablets, explained as being intended for a cleaning without anesthesia to be given in the morning of the procedure. I attempted to schedule the procedure immediately after the visit but was told the schedule was closed and to call back later. The Friday before the appointment, I called the clinic myself because no one had contacted me with instructions. I was told when my dog should stop eating and that someone would call me the next day with instructions about the tablets. No one called, and I had to figure out on my own how and when to give the medication. As a result, my dog was given calming medication unnecessarily. When I arrived for the appointment, I was then informed that the dental cleaning would be performed under full anesthesia, which had never been discussed or agreed to. Several years ago my husband and I became official dog owners of our miniature schnauzer, Kaiser. To keep things simple we initially went to the previous owners' veterinarian, but after two visits we decided it was time to switch. We wanted a vet that could provide our pup with an annual heart worm shot instead of the monthly heart worm pill that was wrecking our dog's stomach. After reading the glowing reviews we decided to take our fur baby to Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic. Everyone here is so nice here so I see why so many others love this vet as much as we do! Most importantly, they carry the ProHeart injection to prevent heart worms so we were able to ditch the pills that were causing our dog so much discomfort. Our previous vet was so hard to reach and I would constantly have to leave voicemails that seemed to take forever to get returned. I never have an issue reaching Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic. They also have an online app that makes it super easy to schedule an appointment. Parking is a little limited since the vet is located in Hyde Park, but if the parking lot is full there is plenty of street parking off of South Newport Avenue. During covid the office has allowed curbside drop off and pick up. I hope that this option continues to be available because it is so much easier for me to sit in my car with my toddler boys instead of dragging them inside the vet. Wonderful first time visit with Dr. Ashely Anzulewicz and staff. The appointment was fast and efficient, and they took very good care of my 5 month old Pomeranian, Pompeii. The doctor answered all of my questions, rectified my concerns, and most importantly, they were caring and gentle during his vaccinations. I recently moved to Tampa, Florida with my new puppy and picked this vet for her care. The visits were over the phone due to COVID, but my first few encounters of calling and speaking to the staff was not the best, maybe they are just extremely busy, but the mannerism was not courteous or professional in my opinion. I felt the customer service could use some work, but not enough to switch vets. My dog was seen once for an illness and after being seen was sent home with extra prescriptions that she really did not need (posed as more optional by recommended by the vet) great $300 bill....that was fine and I understood, but the 2nd time my pup was sick I emailed in when they were closed and asked several questions regarding her condition. This clinic opens @ 7:30AM...they responded at 9:30 saying the just then forwarded it to the Vet for review. At 12PM I received a call from the front desk saying I had medication and a vet diet ready for pick up....so this vet decided to prescribe a medication and a vet prescribed kibble without seeing my pup, and also did not have a Vet or Tech call or email back to explain why and answer my questions. A puppy who is 15 weeks and has excessive diarrhea, and no water intake is very serious, the fact that they were more concerned about selling product a second time than the well being of my 15 week puppy shows their lack of care. I do not trust my Purebred Bernese to them and I am switching vets and do not recommend coming to this vet. read more

I've never showed up on time for an appointment and waited long for the Vet, they're actually stick to their appointment times and that's not even the best thing about them. Found a street parking spot right in front and whisked my cat in for her first appointment there. Nice space with some fun animal-oriented art on the walls and three cats that apparently live there and seem quite content. The exam room was clean and comfortable and the vet was extremely friendly and helpful. She really listened to my questions and concerns and was quite gentle with my pet. I never felt like they were pushing or pressuring me for any unnecessary tests or shots. They really seemed to have my cat's best interest in mind. I hope I only have to take my cat there for routine visits such as shots to keep her up-to-date. I just want to say a huge thank you to @hydeparkvetclinic After 3 years and 3 different veterinary offices thinking Jager has horrible allergies, and spending hundreds on medicine monthly. Hyde park was eager to find out the true issue of Jager being in pain. After 2 visits they found that Jager had a long overdue ear infection deep in his ear canals, causing them to almost be swollen shut. On top of this Jager doesn't even have allergies. Hundreds of dollars wasted because vets in the past were lazy. Thank you Hyde Park Vet for getting to the root of the problem, being patient, loving and understanding on Jager's breed. Pros: the front office was great and very friendly when I called to schedule my appt. I had an early appt so it wasn't a zoo like some of the other vets. Cons: Dr Harper/Jensen lacked personality, warmth and compassion. I would never take my dog/s to see her again. I went because my dog was symptomatic and I needed an opinion and she totally dismissed my concerns and made me feel almost silly for bringing her in. I told her I felt like I didn't have any answers since the blood work was normal yet she was still symptomatic and in an unfriendly tone she said "you have a lot of answers." I know my dog and what she's doing certainly isn't normal for her. For being the vet owner and dealing with pets, I expected a lot more from her! Disappointed! read more

Everyone seems so nice and the vet I met was super patient and sweet. Great care for the price. Charlie got all his shots and his exam here as well as his fecal and heart work test which just two days after his appointment I got a personal call from the vet saying he's clean. I had a horrific experience here. Mind you I am an experienced pet owner who has been to all manner of vets all across the country, and I have never been treated as horribly as I was treated at this "highly recommended" vet. I adopted a 30-pound spaniel mixed breed dog who was about 2 years old. A few days after I got her I wanted to take her to the vet to get her checked out. I had read all the reviews about this vet, and plus I got a personal recommendation from a friend. So I took my dog there. The staffers at the front desk were fine. When I was taken into an examination room, a vet tech came in and she was rude, had an indifferent attitude toward my dog, and I got a very bad vibe from her. Her attitude was, for lack of a better term, very "bitchy". She acted as if she was annoyed at having to talk to us, or be at work that day, or whatever. She was a bitch. Then when the vet came in accompanied by another tech (different from the tech above), the vet also had the same, non-caring, bitchy attitude. This was Dr. Harper. She was also I guess having a bad day that day. She asked me a couple of questions about the dog in a very non-caring way, and then proceeded to approach the dog to examine her. The dog started to growl and lunge at Dr. Harper. When this happened, Dr. Harper became very very annoyed with me, told me that the dog needed medication, and that I might want to consider returning the dog to where I adopted her from. MInd you, I had only adopted this dog a few days before. I did not know she was going to react this way at the vet, and the dog has never growled at me once. After that Dr. Harper barely examined the dog, left the room and I was checked out at the front desk very quickly. They basically wanted me and my dog out of there. I have never been treated so poorly at a vet's office in my life, and I have been to the cheapest and the most expensive vets all over the USA. read more

We are off to a great start with Hyde Park Vet Clinic - here is why: Pro's: - Qualified care with grads from Ohio State U, since education matters - A vet who takes time to listen and demonstrates genuine care in the first meeting (we saw Dr. Mueller) - Provides continuation of care and helpful new advice whether a young, spry pet or an elderly, aging pet with chronic illness/disease (I have both) - Responsive regarding prescription refills and prescription diet needs - Competent and friendly front desk staff - Shots administered in exam room (so you see what you are paying for, and also can observe your pet) / blood draws and uncomfortable tests performed outside exam room (so pets don't associate the "bad" stuff with the owner!) - Exam tables / tools appear clean - Prices competitive with similar level of care (my experience across the northeast, midwest, and south) What could be better? I would like to see them rip up the old tile/put in new flooring, give the place a fresh coat of paint, and provide newer/cleaner seating while you wait in the exam rooms... this is all minor - and cosmetic - because, yes, my pups do walk on the sidewalk and in the grass!! It would just be nice to feel like everything in the clinic is wiped down and cleaned like a doctor's office. My perspective. So overall, for a first visit, I was impressed. After forming a very close relationship with our previous vet, I entered with trepidation. A big thank you to Yelp reviewers in sharing feedback on HPVC. Dr. Harper is super nice! She answered all of my questions and was very reassuring! She did a very thorough examination of my Maltese and told me things about him that no one else ever took the time...his knee pops out of the joint. Also, instead of just selling me more heartworm meds she said to wait until we move back to Missouri this summer because the meds we were using don't work for ticks. I really appreciate her honesty and not trying to get me to spend more money! On top of all of that, she recommended a new type dental cleaning where the dog doesn't have to be put under with meds, rather he stays awake and a hygienist will clean his teeth very thoroughly! This costs half the price of a regular cleaning and he won't have to have all the blood work! I am super impressed with the front desk hospitality and the comforting technicians! Our pets , three dogs and a cat ,were Dr Harpers patients for a long time , then we had to relocate, and then the pandemic..., it's been few years we haven't seen her nor the wonderful team , when we were traveling from east coast to west coast and when my puppies needed a vet , I will say no one was as knowledgeable,and as helpful as dr Harper, our little baby , chorkie has bad allergie and no vet could heal her , our only worry always was ,seems ,we never seen an older dogs when visiting her,and since our pups got older , we think they may not like to treat older pets ....other then that, it is a great clinic and honest ,straight forward, and not pushy to run bunch of unnecessary tests ... read more

Im really disappointed to give this place only 3 stars as I was very happy with the vet I saw, their patience with me during my cat's struggles of trying to figure out why my cat keeps pooping out of the litter box. It was determined to be behavioral after other trials and errors and my cat was put on fluoxetine, kitty Prozac. After only 2 doses she was acting SO different. My cat who normally loves to play was now super scared of everything, she walks around like she is high and has had a loss of appetite. I was concerned and called the vet to ask them if these behaviors were normal or not because all they told me was that my cat would be a little lethargic, but everything else would be normal. Example: my cat loves to sit on my patio and relax, its a battle to bring her in because she loves it out there, now with the medication she is terrified to go near the door! When the vet tech called me back on 4/23 she told me that how she is reacting is not due to the medicine since I have only given her 3 doses, but since I am concerned I can bring her in to be re-checked. ........ Im sorry, my cat is walking around like someone pressed the slow-motion button on her, and I cant put my purse on the floor or close the fridge without her jumping and running away at the sound. I understand that the medicine does take time to build up in the body, but the only thing that has changed to cause this behavior was the medicine. Ever think that maybe the dose may be a little high for her? Isn't it a bad reaction if my cat is acting worse and not better? This is a hormonal medication, and I know it takes time to build up, but like humans, everyone- every animal is different. So totally dismissing my concerns did not sit well with me. I know my cat, and she was NOT acting doped up and scared to this extreme the night before I started giving her the medication. And to tell me, "well you seem concerned so you can bring her in for a second check up"...?? How is my cat's behavior not a concern to YOU? I was told by your staff she would be lethargic...acting skittish and high is not my definition of lethargic. I was just really put off and have decided to take my cat elsewhere. The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 1 is that Dr. Harper and Preston (i think her name was) were incredibly nice, understanding and patient with me and my cat and my 10 million questions. read more

After having trouble with the vet and rescue that we got our dog from, we were forced to search for a new one closer to our new home. Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic had great reviews and seemed perfect for our dog, Tucker. Tucker has a serious medical condition so we really wanted to find someone who was thorough and passionate about their field. We came to the right place. Dr. Chrysa Dunser was great with Tucker and made us feel comfortable throughout the visit. Since we had problems with our previous vet, Tucker's history wasn't complete and Dr. Dunser recommended that we start fresh. So he had three shots, a parasite and heartworm test, and returns in a week or two to finish his last shot series. This visit ended up being around $240, but considering the circumstances it was worth it to keep our dog healthy. She even reviewed his medication and offered to call his previous cardiologist to assess whether it needed to be increased. Dr. Dunser was great to work with and Tucker loved her. He especially loved the treats he kept getting! This place is very clean and the staff was all friendly and seemed to love what they do. Everyone from the receptionist to the techs and vet gave my dog the VIP treatment. It may be a little more expensive, but Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic is worth every penny. read more

I chose this vet when I moved here almost two years ago based upon online reviews and knowing that they're certified and trained as a cat friendly practice. My cat and I went for routine check-ups twice and then we went back because he was limping. The limp turned out to be cancer of the bone, and his little front leg had to be amputated May 2, 2016. The entire staff there, every vet, tech, and receptionist, was amazing. So compassionate to both of us. They have an in-house surgeon there so they are one of the only practices in Tampa Bay able to do amputations without calling in someone else. They really made sure he was going to be ok and provided excellent follow-up care. This past Saturday, July 30th, I had to say good-bye to my fat little tiger because he had a severe GI bleed that wasn't fixable. They really went above and beyond. The vet even sat with me for awhile after everything was done, telling me what a nice cat he was, that he never scratched or bit anyone through all of his ordeals there, and reassuring me that this was the best choice for him. One of the techs came in afterwards and helped me get clippings of his fur and make footprints in green, my favorite color. The staff here is fantastic, the decor is adorable, and I really appreciate that the euthanasia took place in a nice little room with a kitchen table and nice chairs and a soft pet bed, not in a sterile exam room. This is the only clinic I've ever been to that provided that. I cannot recommend this veterinary practice highly enough. read more
