This is a review on "Hydro Solutions' Heat Pump Team and Program": This summer at the suggestion of a colleague, we reached out to Hydro Solutions to learn more about their Heat Pumps for our cottage in the Laurentides, and found the representatives at Hydro Solutions - Ortencia & Ersulia - to be an excellent educational resource on the advantages of Heat Pumps and on why Hydro Solutions' Heat Pump program made sense for us. The fact that we had multi-lingual support in English, Spanish or French by Ortencia & Ersulia also enabled us to ask technical questions in the language that was easier for us to understand. The representatives answered all our questions, and stayed in touch throughout the process helping with any additional concerns that came up. The system has not yet been installed because during the high season & the recent heat waves, they have about a 4 week installation waiting period, but knowing that we can reach back to them if we face any issues with the local partner installers gives us peace of mind in this project. Suggestion: Only 1 process suggestion we would have for Hydro Solutions Senior Executive Team, and I think it has been touched upon by several other reviews here. Hydro Solutions' customer support team; their heat pump products and their monthly financing program are on target and have enormous potential in the current market environment. However, I would strongly suggest that they develop and closely monitor a very "real-time" clear and strong on-going quality control/evaluation of their chosen local partners/installers; one that includes online local partner evaluations sent to Hydro customers every step of the process. Hydro Solutions senior executive team may have all the right pieces to have a huge financial success with their Heat Pump program offering, but the highest risk to that success is in insuring the on-going highest quality and loyalty of the local partners/installers' follow-thru with Hydro Solutions customers. Poor service. I took a day off work for nothing. They could not replace my water tank situated on the second floor of my condo. The technician was not qualified to shut the main valve. I had to do it for him. He also did not take the time to wait until the water from the pipes emptied. He asked that I call a plumber to install a valve first. I cancelled and made other arrangements with a plumber instead. FYI....They are owned by Brookfield. read more

Terrible experience with Hydrosolution. I replaced two perfectly working Rheem water heaters in my condos because the building requires replacement after 10 years. Hydrosolution assured me their Giant heaters were better quality. On the same day of installation, one of the brand-new heaters started leaking everywhere. I called and a technician came, told me the previous installer did it wrong, adjusted the piping, and guaranteed it wouldn't leak again. Two hours later, it started leaking all over again. Hydrosolution advertises 24/7 emergency service, but when I called around 10pm no one answered despite hours of trying. They finally called back at 7am and told me the earliest technician could come was between 2pm and 10pm - an 8-hour window for an emergency caused by their faulty installation. A brand-new heater leaking twice on the day it was installed, plus a "24/7 emergency line" that doesn't answer. Extremely disappointing service. I would not recommend this company. read more

The technician arrived within one hour, which was perfect. However, they did not inform me beforehand that their truck requires two parking spaces. And when I called, the next day, they give me a normal scheduling which is not supposed to, because we already had the appointment it should be the initiave of the company to priotize the job and the appointment by calling first the next day. Hydro Solution should have two trucks -- one dedicated to the most urgent installations and another for regular urgent scheduling. read more

I would never again deal with company again I have been with them for over 30 years. They use to be great company. My tenant has had no hot water for 2 days in these frigid temperatures The water tank is 11 years old. It has broken down 3 times in the past year. They refuse to change the tank and just replace parts. Then have to wait at least 5days to get service. 0 STARS I will be canceling contract for my tenant. Mine will be next. read more

I made urgent arrangements on June 22nd to have a water heater replaced. The only available date was July 1st. I live in the countryside and there is a slope to get up to the house. The first one they arrive and refuse to raise the slope citing that in the winter they could not offer service. WE ARE IN QUEBEC there have always been winters. I was never notified of this condition or even asked questions about the location of the house. It is a house with LOTS of other household appliances and I have NEVER HAD a delivery problem SUMMER or WINTER. They didn't even come up to see they left without offering service. What horrible and pathetic service. I waited 9 days for nothing, I could have gone private. I was on vacation without hot water. If this is a condition, you ABSOLUTELY have to notify people before taking the order. UNACCEPTABLE! read more

First one the tech called to tell me there's no parking on the street. Second appt they didn't show up. Third appt. they call to say the tech. is sick and they will come tomorrow. I had a terrible experience with Hydro-Solution for the replacement of my water heater What went well: - Booking process. Easy to talk to someone, information is given and booking is easy with reasonable availability What went wrong : The whole installation - I was sent 2 apprentices who were obviously new as plumbers - They made sure to give mea price list of things that could be charged - When they looked at the installation they told me flat out they could not install it because of the existing installation. I live in a condo with very standard installation and it never was a problem in the past which I told them - They called their supervisor on FaceTime who told them how to make the connections - I have an Akwa system which shuts down the main water valve in case of leak in the condo. They didn't know about it while I was told by the person that contacted me for the installation that they had all that on file and there would be no problem. - They asked me to close the main water entre in the building (the one that closes for all condo units). I had to tell them they could close the condo valve and they proceeded to tell me that water was coming from one of the pipe which had no valve. Had to convince them that it was the other pipe where the valves and Akwa system was installed. I had to prove it to them. - They finally said they were ok to proceed but had to put my fire alarm on test. If anyone has a faire alarm linked to a central it takes time to call them and have it put it on test. No one told me that was something I had to do. I went and covered the fire alarm instead. - While they were in the process to remove the water heater, I heard another FaceTime call between the plumber and supervisor. - Eventually they pulled the old water heater out and brought in the new one and did not protect the floor (and nor did they take their shoes off). - While installing the new tank, the plumber came to see me to tell me they would need to charge me 95$+tx for the installation because it was more complicated. I should have seen that coming since they laid out all the price list when they came in. Had no choice than to say yes but I really think they just made it complicated and they didn't know what they were doing which made it more complicated for them. - Finally when all was done, they did not reconnect the Akwa system. - When I went to check after they left I notice the installation didn't seem right. The pipe were crocked and there was missing a 90 degree angle pipe. See pictures. - After opening a complaint, I was given an appointment to come fix the issue on a Saturday between 8 and 13:00. They never showed up, nor did I get a call. - Sent a few messages and emails. Got contacted again with a new date. They finally came and fixed the issue. I do not recommend Hydro-Solution. If I could give 0 stars I would. I contacted them for a heat pump. I agreed and communicated I wanted to rent one. An email from a separate company was sent for the contract apparently but not myself nor anyone of the 6 people I spoke to was able to find the email. I had to continuously follow up and re explain the situation. Once we were able to move forward with the installation a technician from the company Hydrosolutions contracted damaged personal belongings (antique night stand and internet modem), threw his jacket and toolbox on my mother's bed, slammed doors multiple times, ignored my mother and myself, tried shutting my mother's bedroom door while he worked in there (electrical pannel) and would tell us he would simply leave if we keep talking to him. I informed Hydrosolutions who tool 0 accountability for the company they sib contracted to come into our home and they did absolutely nothing to compensate. Called on the weekend to ask if I can throw out their old expired tank since the guys from Plomberie Aqua Viva installing the new tank offered to recycle it for free. I was told "Absolutely not. It is property of Hydrosolution. You're not allowed. you will be charged a fee. Call back on Monday to have it picked up." I called on Monday and after the phone disconnecting over a dozen times and about one hour on hold on the phone, I was told by the representative that they will not send a technician. Terrible experience, it ended costing me much more money going with Hydrosolution than if I would have gone with Home Depot or Rona. Thinking they were specialists in hot water tanks, I went with them to buy a hot water tank for a rental unit I own. I wanted to go with a company that specializes in hot water tanks as I did not want to have problems down the line. When they installed the hot water heater, they drained the water from the old one in the shower. This is a small apartment and it only has one bathroom and no bath, just a shower. The shower was working perfectly well before their visit as I had been staying in it for a few weeks to oversee other renovations. When came time to use the shower, my only way to wash, I noticed that the drain was completely clogged with sediment from the old hot water heater. I called them to send technicians to unclog it and they refused saying it was my problem! It was a Friday night and calling a plumber at that time means paying emergency fees that can cost over $350 for a couple of hours at the very least. In the end, I ended up spending a ton of money, not to mention my time, to get the drain unclogged. I thought they might have a shred of decency and asked them to refund me the money I had spent to unclog the drain and they flat out refused! I have tried to contact customer service at least six times and keep getting the run around. I should have known they are terrible at customer service as when, initially, I rented another hot water tank from them, for another apartment I own, Hydrosolution offered me a half price special for two years. Only by checking my accounts payable, did I notice they were charging me full price on that unit. I had to call and ask for a refund. What upsets me is that if I had not checked my bills, they would have continued to charge me full price and I would have never gotten my money back! I am so upset with them that I do not want to rent from them anymore so I asked to buy the last water heater that I rent from them. They have a deal where they will prorate what you paid in rental fees and sell you the unit you rent minus the costs paid in renting. When I asked to buy the unit, customer service, already upset with my complaints I suppose, wanted to charge me the cost of two new hot water tanks for the one I rent from them. This makes no sense! In the end, I cannot afford this so I will let my lease run out and just have them pick up the four year old water heater and buy one from Home Depot or Rona. Then I will be free from dealing with this most dishonest company. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Crickets. Called back 2 more times - June & August. Bill keeps getting bigger. Finally spend hour on the phone today. Apparently they only notes they have was from April. Never acted upon. Finally they want full payment before they will pick it up. Someone supposed to call back again. Still waiting. Phoned them for information about our water heater two days ago. When someone finally answered who couldn't speak the English or French languages very well. He said that someone would phone us back shortly, and he took down our phone number. We never recieved a call back. I wrote them an e-mail asking for the info., and after 2 days we still haven't received a reply. If there was an option for 0 stars... It takes a lot for me to post a negative review, but if I can save one person the headache of having to deal with this company it will have been worth it. The first person I spoke to to start the process was great, but after the "agreement" for the water heater was in place the customer service went out the window. First was told to call back to confirm an installation that same week. Called back, was told that someone would call me later that day to confirm the installation details. Got the call the following day asking to confirm a date for the following week. -Strike One-. Made the appointment, arranged my schedule to fit in the 5 hour window. Installation day, I get a call 30 minutes before the installation window closes saying that on the way to my house, the truck broke so they wouldn't be able to deliver/install that day. The rep who called me said that they now only had a slot the following week (Now two weeks after the original date I was told it could be installed) and assured me that it could be installed before noon. -Strike Two-. Installation day, part deux, noon passes, 3pm passes, 5pm passes...Nothing! Again I had made arrangements to accommodate the installation. At this point I figured I had taken note of the wrong date and was thinking I'd need to call them back the following day. 6:30pm rolls around and my phone rings, to my surprise it's the installation tech saying he could be there in 30 minutes. I remind him that the installation was scheduled between 9am and noon, his response "En tout cas, je m'enviens, ou tu peut appeler demain for prendre une autre rendez-vous" (In any event, I'm on my way, or you can call tomorrow to take another appointment). - Strike Three-. Call this afternoon to cancel the installation and terminate any dealings with them and don't get so much as a "was there an issue? Anything we can do to help?", no attempt to offer any kind of customer service at all. I eventually explain what had happened and get "so you'd like to cancel the installation" as a response. To say that the experience left a lot to be desired would be a gross understatement. A pitiful display of customer service. Hydro Solution has been an incredibly frustrating company to deal with. I have a stacked washer and dryer blocking the hot water tank, which they offered to move as part of the installation. Fast forward a few months and I hear a dripping sound. Need to move the washer/dryer out of the way, but guess what: Hydro Solution won't do it. They'll only do it for installations; how convenient. So now, after exhausting all my options trying to get HS to help, I've decided to hire movers for the job, but Hydro Solution will only give me a 5-hour time range for my appointment, which is not exactly a cost-effective option when there are movers involved. I feel it's deceptive to offer to move the washer/dryer during installation but not for repairs. I'm very disappointed in their lack of flexibility and empathy towards the client. Suddenly, there is no longer any hot water. Called for service and I was told that my heater was 18 years old and had to be replaced. Faced with not much of an option on a Sunday morning, I agreed to a new 60 gal. tank. They came to install it that afternoon and left one hour later assuring me that the tank would be functional in 2-3 hours with full capacity of hot water. After 3 hours of waiting, still no hot water. Technician came back the next morning to discover that there was a fuse which had burnt. The first technician DID NOT CHECK THE FUSES. When I advised the company that there probably would not have been a need to change the tank if the fuses had been checked. Customer service kept me waiting for 70 minutes after a customer agent had answered my call. They figured that my patience would wear thin and I would just go away. I have never experienced such rude service and find it difficult how any one could do business with Hydro Solutions knowing that they do not care to listen to their client once they have been paid for their service. Horrible company, they advertise peace of mind but they offer anything but, my hotwater heater broke and they could only offer me a visit from a technician 48 hrs later and even then they can only give me a 6 hour window, not a precise time. Their customer service agents are impolite to say the least transferring calls amongst themselves after advising you they would transfer your call to a supervisor, total waste of my time. Would cost less to buy the hotwater reservoir and have a pro plumber install instead of paying monthly rental fees over 13 years to finally be told they can't help me when i need it. read more

After having a tank from them for 9 years it sprung a leak, or so I was told by the resident ground floor apartment in my building where my tank resides. At first I was relieved that I would not have to call a plumber. Finally I would get to use the repair service that comes free with membership. The first individual I spoke with could not understand that my tank was located in the basement of my building inside another apartment. After 20 minutes of trying to explain this simple fact, I was transferred to someone who understood the situation. But they failed to inform me or my neighbour that they would need access to both apartments. Thus when they came, they had access to the apartment with the tank, but not to the apartment with the circuit box. The second time they came, they arrived a half hour early. But the residents in one of the apartments were gone, as they had scheduled their day around the appointed repair time. The repairman left without doing anything. When I called to schedule a third appointment, the customer service agent accused us of not providing access to the repairmen. She accepted no responsibility for the fact that the problems were ones Hydrosolution had caused. She further denied that the second repairman had arrived early. She insisted that he had arrived 40 minutes later than he really did, and further insisted that their repair people never lie. She refused to identify herself. When I demanded to speak to her supervisor I received an agent who refused to identify himself as well. He told me that he would hang up on me for failing to be productive. Why? Because I asked him who he was. Eventually he claimed to be the Director of Water Tank Division for Installations, but refused to give me his name. He defended the employees and did not accept responsibility for their wrong-doing, except to acknowledge that full instructions should have been given to us. The third repair man determined that my tank was fine. He was happy to inform me that the leak was coming from another resident's tank that sits next to mine in the basement. (Both tanks btw are from Hyrdosolution.) Why, I thought, did not repair man #1 figure this out? But I dared not ask that. Instead I asked, are you going to inform your central office that another one of your customers has a leaking tank? "No," he replied. Are you going to inform the building owner of the problem that a Hydrosolution tank is leaking in his building? "No," he replied. Are you going to inform the resident that their tank is in trouble? "No," he replied. He repeated each time that he only responds to orders for specific tanks, and that reporting on other defective Hydrosolution tanks is not his job. I told the building owner myself. The fourth repair man (actually it was a team of 2 this time) came to the wrong address. They were instructed by the building owner to visit the apartment that holds the defective tank, and the resident's apartment who uses the tank. Instead, they came to me. I assume that eventually the defective tank was replaced. If that were not bad enough, they schedule a 5-hour time frame during which the resident is expected to wait for them. Talk about inconvenient, especially if they end up coming 3 or 4 times in one week! At every turn, Hydrosolution appears to be staffed by people who simply do not care, who lack internal policies and procedures geared toward quality control and service, and who do the bare minimum to not to get fired. No-one takes responsibility for anything. About 5 years earlier they sent a repairman to investigate why my hot water ran out so quickly. The guy failed determine that an element needed to be replaced, and claimed nothing was wrong. Then too, it was a lot of calling and convincing on my part to get anyone to understand that I had a problem. A second repairman had to be sent who knew what to do. In the future, if I have a choice I will buy a tank at Sears and take my chances with a plumber. read more

I have been renting a water heater from this company rather than buying one in order to benefit from their service plan. In 11 years, I have only called them once, and they left me without hot water for 32 hours in the cold month of January. It would have been cheaper and faster just to buy the tank and pay for same day service from someone else. Leaving a family without hot water for 32 hours in the middle of winter is just not acceptable. read more

As mentioned above, don't waste your time. Installation to be done by a sub-contractor. Two guys showed up and left within a few minutes, from the get-go were looking for an excuse not to do the installation for whatever technical reason (even though their task was to replace a water heater bought and installed by Hydro-Quebec in the past, so old set-up was theirs). On top of that, person on the phone was totally incompetent on any technical question, could only rehash information posted on the web-site, and installation sub-contractor could not schedule me more specifically than between noon and 6pm, had me wait all afternoon for nothing. Ended up buying the same heater from a smaller local company, cheaper, very convenient scheduling, courteous service, installation completed in less than one hour; in the end, a big win for me. read more
