We purchased our Charleston home in July of 2021. Before doing so, I asked Salt Marsh Contracting…read moreto look the property over and give me a rough estimate of what it would cost to complete the scope of renovations I had in mind. I also asked if they could get me into the house by the beginning of February 2022 (it was a significant renovation project - completely new kitchen from the studs out, 4 new bathrooms (including relocating 1 of the baths), new flooring, new electrical, new plumbing etc.). After purchasing the house, Salt Marsh prepared a detailed project budget that was remarkably near the amount that they provided as a rough estimate. Work began in early September. We moved in during the first week of February with a minimal punch list of items to be completed (mostly caused by supply chain issues). Most importantly, they have been diligent in working to clear the list. Working with our team from Salt Marsh could not have gone better. They are good at what they do, professional and well managed! This is our fourth major project (others were in New England) and I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed working with a contracting team as much as I have Salt Marsh Contracting. The process was as smooth and professional as you can ask for. It came in on budget (actually slightly under) and most importantly we couldn't be happier with the results! I am very confident that you will experience the same if you hire them to do your project. Paul Chapdelaine Charleston SC

We hired them when we purchased our house this August and learned that we needed a lot of structural work, help with wood rot, electrical and a bunch of other things both inside & outside of the house. Its not easy working with a 100 + year old house but they were so knowledgeable I knew we were in good hands. They took time to sit down with us to review the scope of the work and give us an honest picture of the price and timeline we were looking at. They helped us figure out what projects were urgent and what could wait. I never felt that they were trying to take advantage of us but rather that they were great partners who truly had our best interest in mind. They are also very well respected in the community and I can tell their employees enjoy working for them. Their work was great and I would 100% call them for any future project.

The entire process was a nightmare. We agree with every negative review of LCC that we have read in various places. To make it short and sweet, this was our experience: - Communication was non-existent. - Craftsmanship was poor. Things had to be done multiple times and they didn't seem to care whether or not it was done well. - Promises were made and never kept. - Multiple vendors told us that they were not paid on time or at all by LCC, adversely impacting our project. - LCC management was disrespectful in their interaction with us. - They were dishonest and unprofessional throughout the project. - The things that LCC DID excel at were lying and making excuses. We eventually cut ties with them even though the renovation was never really finished. Our advice... Do not go near them with a 10-foot pole. FYI... The glowing testimonial video on the company's website features members of the owner's family. BUYER BEWARE!

I also wish to commend Stefan Bellotto, Project Manager, for his exemplary leadership throughout this process. Prior to engaging New Beginnings Construction, I unfortunately worked with another company that claimed it could assist with the restoration of my home. It soon became evident that this company lacked both competence and integrity. I spent countless hours reviewing inaccurate claims that were submitted directly to my insurance company without my knowledge, and attempting to locate personal belongings that had been removed and taken to undisclosed locations. The experience was distressing and deeply unsettling, leaving me concerned about how my family, my business, and I would recover from the situation. My initial conversation with Cory Plies at NBC marked a clear and meaningful turning point. From the outset, the professionalism, transparency, and ethical standards demonstrated by your team stood in sharp contrast to my prior experience. Stefan Bellotto led the project with exceptional diligence, clear communication, and unwavering integrity. His consistent updates through the Buildertrend app provided transparency and accountability, allowing me to remain fully informed and confident in the progress of the project. Stefan's attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to doing what was right made a significant difference during an otherwise challenging period. His conduct reflects positively on New Beginnings Construction and speaks to the values and leadership of your organization. Please extend my sincere appreciation to Stefan and the entire team involved in my project: Todd Meagher, William Clifford, Jonathon Harrell, and Gavin Plies. Their professionalism, quality of work, and ethical approach restored not only my home, but my trust in the restoration process. Thank you for fostering a company culture that prioritizes integrity, communication, and excellence. It has been a privilege working with New Beginnings Construction, and I would not hesitate to recommend your organization to others. Thanks to your team I now know that what looked like the end was actually a New Beginning. Wishing your team a Happy New Year..or should I say a Happy New Beginning! Mahalo

This is was a big project to remove a wall to open up our downstairs, completely renovate the kitchen, pull up and install new floors, and paint the entire house. The project finished exactly on time. The price was reasonable. This was a once in a lifetime reno, and we could not be more happy with the quality of the work, the end result, and the overall experience. We use our kitchen every single day (all day!), and it is functional and beautiful. There is nothing I would change about it. All parties involved should be recognized, from design services to project management and to each of the contractors: Cabinet guys, countertop guys, floor installers, painting team. All did really quality work. I haven't hung up pictures yet because it's so nice having beautifully painted walls!! It's worth pointing out that we could not afford to vacate our home while this was going on, so we (my husband, me, our 5 year old son, and 12 year old dog!) lived in the house for 5 weeks without a kitchen, floors, etc. I know our living there and needing some place to sleep, etc. had to be factored in to the overall organization and scheduling, and I'm sure it made the project more complicated. This didn't seem to faze anyone! This is also why we appreciate that the project finished exactly on schedule. Thank you Jack, Jackie, Gina and the entire team!!

IF you look at Google Reviews I gave a glowing review of Holy City Home Solutions in June 2023. At…read morethe time Sean V. was with the company and they did a great job. So I needed some work done and had no reservation to call Holy City, however I found out Sean was no longer with the company. Chris the owner, came and I walked the house and told him what I wanted done, and I got a quote for the work which I accepted with this exception. One part of the quote, as our conversation, was to replace 5 slats of wood and repaint the complete exterior of my office-3 sides. When I got the estimate this is what it said:"Back side of house a section of wood siding that needs about 4.5-5 rows from the bottom replaced, primed and painted." Labor: $1,500.00 Materials: TBD. So I immediately reached out to the office to clarify as this sounded like it was just 1 wall for $1500?. If you see my text it states unequivocally that I wanted the entire exterior of the office painted. I didn't get a response. So when they contacted me they were ready to start I asked once again about this and Chris stated to me (see his text) to paint the whole back section and I said "good perfect". So we start the job, and I can't tell you the hassle I went through, from a terrible paint job, to dumping paint into my bushes and on all over my hoses. They did come back and paint the poorly painted areas but still he missed some spots. At one point I told the guy to make sure he painted the back of the chimney he said he had finished with 1 coat but really didn't paint the back. Because I have a drone and took pictures to prove he had not. Other issues, a side door was to be replaced with PVC and part of it was redone with pine. They fixed it. An Andersen door was put on the front. He left as complete but the door didn't lock and the left top side was out of kilter with the right. The guy came back and did an ok job in fixing it but it was the principle. He was also supposed to caulk and paint the door and sidelights and did not. The real problem however was over the painting of my office. I had made clear what my expectation was but they painted the 3 walls but not any trim. When I contacted Chris he texted he did me a favor that he painted the 3 sides but said I would have to pay another $450 to paint the trim. I just paid him and felt that I tried to avoid this becoming an issue before the job started. It was like he figured as long as he got the job he would just blow me off later. So I will never ever recommend this company ever again. It's too bad because they used to be good but I can see why Sean V left.
