So not all bad, this place is a pretty solid bet if you wanna catch the sport, TVs about the place and large projector screens so whatever your sport of choice is... So they go all for it! The food here is also pretty good, pub menu done well... Had had the fish and chips, burger option plus hubby has tried the wings, reasonably priced and always quick and nicely played up. As a result, Searson's has taken to running an armoured bus service to and from Croke park. They ferry their shaken clientelle from the Hill to the leafy safety of Baggot St to drink off the nightmares in peace. I believe this comes with a carvery lunch and a pint so if you live nearby and don't mind seeming like a bit of a plonker getting the D4 express mightn't be a bad idea. The inside is really nice, a long room with a high ceiling in the front and a carvery area and smoking section out the back. The room is decorated in black varnished wood with lots of mirrors creating the illusion of space, I imagine, and two large and relatively accessible bars. These bars making it possible, if not easy, to get a drink on the pubs busy Saturday and Sunday nights. So, four stars for Searson's, because, well, it's not really my thing but I can see why those that like it, love it.

The decor is a bit naff - loads of 'aged' objects from when we walked around bare-foot and ate raw potatoes stuck to the walls. A common trend with so many pubs in Ireland these days and alas abroad. The clientele are real 'Dublin' - a bit rough around the edges but not threatening. It's got a real Northside flavour to it. For you smokers, there is a decent sized smoking area out the back.

One point of interest about Flannery's is that it is yet to become gentrified in the manner that Coppers has in recent years: Flannery's is still almost 100% pure-bred culchies. Flannery's is very similar in layout to its Drumcondra counterpart: like Quinns, it is quite small and unassuming from the outside, but is very long once you get in, with a smoking area at the back. Nice kind of synthesis between nightclub and pub atmosphere, good for those nights when you're not sure what to do with yourself. Good for some shits and giggles, or if you're a lady looking for a strapping young man with broad-shoulders and a crew cut. Metrosexual young men of Dublin: give the skinny jeans and the sister's GHD a rest for the night, they don't go in much for that kind of carry-on in Flannery's.

Flannerys is tardis like inside. The place looks small from the outside but goes back a long way. There's another bar at the back, a beer garden, as well as ample room upstairs. Expect this place is be truly heaving at the weekends and gets a big crowd from outside Dublin a bit like Rody Bolands in Rathmines its always busy. Its great fun though and the word heaving was probably invented for Flannerys on a Saturday night as you'll probably be carried along with the crowd inside.

A great pint of our rosy hued (it's not black despite the adverts) porter here is just over six euro or about half the price of TB served without air miles as the brewery is literally just up the road. And unlike TB it's the same price at 10pm as it is at 6pm. It's served by great local staff all of whom have seen it all from the other side of the bar. We didn't try their food but the prices were reasonable. The Guinness slipped down smoothly. We tried cheese and onion crisps with our porter that were the best tasting we've ever tried jut ouch two euro? What a lovely way to while away a few hours in great company.
