We purchased a brand-new gate from them less than a year ago, and the fire exit door is already not working properly. These doors are extremely heavy, and during installation I specifically questioned the hinges they were using. I even showed them another heavy door on our property with heavy-duty hinges and asked if they could use something similar. I was assured that the hinges they installed were more than capable of handling the weight and that they stood behind them. Less than two months after installation, S&G had to come back out and adjust the doors. Now we're having problems again. There were also unfinished details from the original installation. When they installed the door handles, they left visible weld holes in the doors and never came back to fill or cover them. For a brand-new custom gate, I don't think that's acceptable workmanship. I've been trying to get this resolved since June. I've spoken directly with their main service agent, Cody, and my contractor has contacted them numerous times as well. Their own office staff confirmed that their notes show we've been calling since June. It's now August, and after months of calls and follow-ups, we're still getting the runaround with no resolution. That's the most frustrating part: I actually love the gate and fence they built. The finished product looks great overall. But when you're spending money on a brand-new gate--especially one that includes a fire exit door--you expect the company to stand behind its work and correct installation issues. Great-looking gate and fence, but unfortunately the customer service, attention to finishing details, and follow-through after they get paid have been extremely disappointing.

However, we have to give the Texas State Roofing Company a 1 star on communications. Their communications can best be summed up as horrible. We had them install two roofs. One on our home here in town and also one at our other house 125 miles away. We heard the doorbell ring at 7 a.m. one morning at our in-town home. Five men were standing around on our lawn. We had no idea who they were or why they were at our house. Of the five men, not one spoke English. I finally figured out who they were after one of them called his english speaking supervisor and I spoke with him and he told me it was the roofing crew. No one had let us know they were coming that day. I had not taken down the security cameras or anything. The 5 man crew did excellent work but I do not speak Spanish and I had several questions that I would like to have had answered. The supervisor, who could speak Spanish, would show up for a couple of minutes once a day and then leave. I would never know when he was going to be there. I would even be home sometimes when he showed up but would miss him because he would not let me know he was outside. He actually got mad at me for wanting to have questions answered (I am not a roofer and had a few questions). His attitude got worse with the out of town house. The man said he would call me and let me know what day the roofing crew would be at the out-of-town house. I got a call the day before and drove 125 miles to meet them and take down the security cameras and unlock the yard gates so they could get their truck and trailer in. They were to arrived at 11 a.m. At noon, I began to get concerned as no one had showed up. At 1 p.m., they still were not there. At 3 p.m., I called the supervisor. No one knew where the crew was. They called around and could not locate the crew. No one had called me from the company. Finally, late in the day, they said they had finally located the crew and they were still in the Corpus Christi area and would not get to our house for several days. I drove back to my home, having driven 250 miles round trip for nothing. I had to make another 250 mile round trip later. I stayed at the out-of-town house while the crew worked. It was the same crew with no one that could speak English. I wanted to talk to the supervisor about several things at the house. He would show up once a day for a few minutes and leave without making his presence known. Moreover, this individual became very testy with me. I love the hand driven shingle nails and the material used but hated the lack of communication. If you can avoid that particular supervisor and nail down exact dates and times, I would highly recommend Texas State Roofers.

Ordered and paid for a solid wooden exterior door and also paid $75 to have the hinge inlays…read morematched along with the door knob and deadbolt openings. I was told when the door came in it could be matched and I could get it the same day , so I dropped the old door off about 9:15 in the morning so they would have it. That's when I was told, they'd have it for me tomorrow! And I replied that's not what I was told, I was told I would have it the same day. Well, they managed to have it finished at 4:45 PM, (they close at 5pm). I took it back to the jobsite and the top hinge did not match by about 3/32". We corrected that mistake, but it was about 45minutes extra work. When I went to get the alarm sensor off the old door in the morning, (I had forgotten it), I asked her if they would cut the top of old door off about six inches, so I could retrieve the alarm sensor? She said they could get to it next week! I said I'd come down and cut it off myself so none of her employees would be put out. When I got there she DID have it cut off already for me. I told her and showed her a pic where the hinge inlay didn't align. I asked if they would allow a partial credit of the $75? She said, No. She'd have to ask the owner but he isn't there and he'd probably say NO, too. I just said, Thanks and left. I was not pleased with customer service after dropping old door off. Attitudes changed. I will probably take future business elsewhere!

She called several companies, leaving voicemails with a brief description of the problem. None returned her call. Days later, an invoice arrived. Apparently, Texas Lawn Pros, one of the companies she called, showed up and spent 3.5 hours plus parts, then billed us. I asked our manager to go to the house and observe the zones as I remotely turned them on. The formerly broken zone now works, but some heads don't pop up or are mis-aligned. I figured if I'm going to pay top dollar then it might as well work perfectly. I therefore asked her to call and see if someone could fix it to our satisfaction. She finally got hold of the owner who refused to come out to correct the problem until the bill for the unsolicited service was paid. To make this headache go away, I've simply cut them a check and will fix/replace the heads when I get down there. The work they do might be okay, but their business practices need some help. Needless to say, we will NOT contact them again for service.
