After several nights in Vienna without having tried schnitzel, I was on a mission to find an…read moreauthentic spot on my last night here. Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

I visited this restaurant based on the recommendation of true Viennese foodies and it lived to the…read morereputation. There were two seating areas: The tables inside were cozy but the terrace was delightful. The nice server promptly took the orders: As we were a group of six, we ordered several dishes so we could try a little bit of everything and of course, the famous Wiener Schnitzel with mixed salad by which every restaurant in Austria is measured. Generally speaking, if that dish fails , usually it is a bad sign. But here everything was fresh, flavorful and served generously. The " Wiener "  like they called it here was crispy on the outside with a wonderful breading and the veal was tender and tasty. I discovered the scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and I could see myself eating it for breakfast too. The dumplings were huge but the flavor wasn't lost . The fish was well cooked . The deserts were as good as the main dishes and I can't recommend enough the palatshinken(crêpes) and the topfentorte( Austrian cheese cake). In summary, maybe one of the best gasthaus in Vienna (typical Viennese restaurant) serving authentic Austrian cuisine at a great price!

Everything was delicious and the service was very friendly. When we mentioned that it was my birthday, they brought out a complimentary dessert with a dramatic sparkler decoration. Nice! The atmosphere is cozy and interesting, with lots of original art on the walls. When we're back in Vienna we would come back again.
