Local site in Vienna listed this as one of the top 10 places to eat schnitzel in Vienna so I gave it a try. It is in zone 2 and WAY off the tourist path. I arrived at noon when they opened Saturday and was the first customer. When I left they were still not very busy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, both very modest. The menu looked amazing and several other offerings tempted me, but I went with the schnitzel. You could hear them in the back preparing it - pounding it flat before breading. It did indeed cover the plate and came with salad, potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I finished the entire schnitzel but could not finish the rest. It was quite good. Service was friendly but not too attentive. I do recommend this place if you want to try good Vienna Schnitzel. Get away from the crowds and try something different!

Nordpol is a lovely restaurant that serves Austrian cuisine along the wall of Augarten. In summer, you can sit outside in their small but cozy guest garden. The food is really amazing. The dishes are of mammoth proportions. The schweinsbraten is incredible! They produce their own special secret sauce - scrumptious! The service is good, the servers are friendly and attentive. The location is great and the prices are reasonable. All in all, a great place. Bring your mom or your date, eat like kings and drink one of their funky Apéritifs. Yum.

A gem! Hearty, healthy food on a great terrace or in the quirky but cosy restaurant inside. The Krautersuppe (fresh sauerkraut with potatoes and sausage) tasted surprisingly fresh and wasn't too heavy. For dinner my friend and I shared the Ziegenkäse mit Speck (goat's cheese with bacon) that came with a big salad (lettuce, potato, tomato, cucumber, gurkins and olives) and a sausage with cheese inside (forgot the name :s) which came with mustard, ketchup and some other side dishes. We were taken aback when the bill was presented to us; €18 per person for starter - main - 2 drinks.

I love it not only because of its location in my street, but also the alternative interior, the paintings of the cook and the hand-written menu and good, old style cuisine from Austria and Bohemia.

The food was fine. We didn't realize they only take cash. Long wait whilst my daughter went to get cash. If the Visa Master Card and Amex signs aren't on the door, make sure you have cash!

I had porcini ravioli and my husband had veal schnitzel. Both were outstanding. Very reasonable (actually ridiculous) prices.

Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

There were two seating areas: The tables inside were cozy but the terrace was delightful. The nice server promptly took the orders: As we were a group of six, we ordered several dishes so we could try a little bit of everything and of course, the famous Wiener Schnitzel with mixed salad by which every restaurant in Austria is measured. Generally speaking, if that dish fails , usually it is a bad sign. But here everything was fresh, flavorful and served generously. The " Wiener "  like they called it here was crispy on the outside with a wonderful breading and the veal was tender and tasty. I discovered the scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and I could see myself eating it for breakfast too. The dumplings were huge but the flavor wasn't lost . The fish was well cooked . The deserts were as good as the main dishes and I can't recommend enough the palatshinken(crêpes) and the topfentorte( Austrian cheese cake). In summary, maybe one of the best gasthaus in Vienna (typical Viennese restaurant) serving authentic Austrian cuisine at a great price!

Regarding food, the menu is short and offers classics (such as schnitzel) that you would find at most Viennese Gasthaus. This place took their small menu and perfected the meals. You will not be disappointed. I am still curious if this place will eventually change or expand their menu, because the kitchen seems very capable of hitting the sweet spot till now. Lets get to the drinks... They have a full bar (wine, beer, spirits, etc) but what is incredible is the extensive types of beers they have to offer. IPAs, German, Austrian, dark, lager, etc.. They've got the jackpot and they are not even boasting about it. Place is definitely worth it just for drinks. The atmosphere inside is not similar to anything, but exactly Automat Welt. They have their own vibe and you'll know what I mean when you go there. This is great place for groups or for a few friends getting together. Even a great place for a dinner and drinks for two. The staff was very friendly and seemed very interested on keeping the place alive. This place needs to be tried out whether you are from the area or not. It might be good to make a reservation if you are 3 or more, as we were told it could be packed on weekends.
