Three stars for the food; perhaps a fourth for the location.
This "Hotel de France" (there are thousands by that name in the country) is sited at the edge of the trout filled Loue River in the Franche Comte, a delightfully green and rural piece of France hard by the Swiss frontier. One gets there by taking the D67 highway southeast of Besancon and ambling from village to village, including especially Lods (classified as "un des plus beaux villages de France". There you find a trailhead for hikes into the mountains, and this restaurant. We (2 of us) had lunch for 40 euros, including one 19 euro "formule" (three courses including dessert), an added main, and a small pichet of local wine. Modest but tasty portions.
