I will always love this hotel, because it saved me! My sister and were visiting Paris for a couple of days three years ago, in the spring of 2011. We were supposed to stay with an acquaintance, but when we arrived at his doorstep in the 7th arrondissement, he answered neither the door nor his phone. We set off in the middle of the night in a strange city with our bags on our backs, looking for a hotel room. Most of the hotels in the area were full. Eventually we found one, but could only book it for one night, so the next morning we had to do the same thing. Happily, we found La Tulipe.
The gentlemen who worked there welcomed us and treated us very sweetly. They both spoke perfect English (and were gentle with our rusty French). The room was costly for us, but still much less than anything else we had found. The hotel smelled like gardenias, and was located near some wonderful restaurants and within walking distance to many other things. They had books to borrow, including Parisian guidebooks in English, which really helped us get the most out of our short visit. The beds were comfortable and the rooms very private and quiet. And they had a lovely little patio and a communal computer that we could use to email our parents to assure them that we were not dead. Also, they held our bags for us after we checked out so we could wander around unencumbered! Really wonderful people, really lovely little hotel. read more
