Like others said, we are no strangers to Ibis chain but this one doesn't live up to standard.
When we first checked in, we loved the location. The tram and bus stops are just down the street/around the corner so it is very convenient. Supermarket and restaurants are nearby, and Rue Sainte Catherine is a short walk away.
However, after two days, the a/c was not working. Inside room temp was about 30C, and the window did not open in a way to let much air in. We told the hotel staff who promised to look at it, and gave us extra sheets as the blanket is too warm. Another two days go by, we requested a room change, but was told that the a/c for the whole hotel broke down and won't be fixed till after the weekend. Curiously there was no signage anywhere "sorry for the inconvenience blah blah blah", and having been to Europe before, I kind of felt that this a/c issue won't be resolved till a few months later... when it gets hot enough that the hotel deems it necessary to turn on some cool air. Sure enough, when my husband complained again another day, the staff said, well, it's too early in the year to turn on the a/c. He totally didn't not feel the global warming. Well, my husband told him, a few days ago your coworker said that as an apology for the a/c they would give us a discount. The guy checked the computer, and said, but your room is prepaid already.
Sad to say, we have to show our obnoxious American face. The manager reverted to the earlier repair excuse, and gave us 10% off. Needless to say, at that point we were eagerly looking forward to checking out of the hotel and not turning back. read more
