It's on the square but the exact location is not correct in yelp. Delightful for a lunch stop and our waiter spoke no less than 4 languages. The TARTINES are open face sandwiches and the Cassoulets are mini baked casseroles. My Parmentier with duck confit was delightfully indulgent but appropriately small with a salad. Incredible! The food was delicious. I got the duck cassoulet and the plate of cheese, amazing! The service was phenomenal. If you're not familiar with French dinner culture, they eat around 8pm, so if you go before 7, you will have faster service and less crowds. I've been in Bordeaux for two nights and found this place via Yelp reviews. I was going to give it three stars but the service and atmosphere bumped it up to four. My wife and mother in law had a chorizo potato and cheese cassarole. There's was served pipping hot BUT it had a nutmeg? Spice to it. Very off putting. My daughters both ordered a Muenster cheese cassarole. Ok. Kinda salty, but ok. MY DISH was delightful. I had a duck and cheese cassarole. Very hearty with a smokey flavor. Many of the reviews seem outdated. Perhaps this once was the #1 restaurant but today (2018) it is outranked by several of the nearby options. Ambiance = feels old, outdated, and in need of care. Not old in a bohemian way. I seriously don't think they've changed the furniture and pillows in some time. Food = smaller menu than expected and not as good as the plethora of options nearby. We got drawn into this tourist trap looking for somewhere decent to have a glass of wine on a Sunday afternoon when many places were closed. Obviously they have got used to customers turning up and paying over the odds just due to the location and believe they can be as rude as they want. The staff member who eventually severed us was very rude when narrowing down which table we must sit at. (You have no options to choose yourself you see) The decor can be described as ramshackle at best and to be honest the place just seemed s bit run down and uncared for. We persevered with ordering but eventually walked out when we were informed we could have a a glass of wine each or a glass of wine and a food dish each, but not a wine each and a dish to share. While exploring the city on a Sunday afternoon, the wife and I looked for a place to have a glass of wine and get a bite to eat. After consulting the Yelp app, we decided upon L'Autre Petit Bois, which was a very short walk from our hotel. We arrived at the middle time in between lunch and dinner, so it was practically empty and we had our pick of places to sit and relax. Located on the shaded corner of a small plaza, L'Autre Petit Bois was a quaint, aesthetically pleasing wine bar that offered some sidewalk seating, but was surprisingly spacious with far more seating inside. Fortunately, even inside you could still enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air. We opted for the well-worn, yet comfortable couch that looked out onto the plaza. We started off with a couple of glasses of Sauternes while we looked over the menu. The wine was fine. However, everything else, to include our second glasses of wine, were hit or miss. We decided on the charcuterie plate and vegetable cassoulet. It was accompanied by the obligatory baguette. The baguette seemed a day or two old, as it was hard and dry. Fortunately, our charcuterie was okay although nothing special. The vegetable cassoulet came out piping hot and possessed good flavor. Both items were reasonably priced. For my second glass of wine, I had a Pomerol and the wife had a glass of Paulliac. While my wine was, again, fine, her's seemed a bit off as if the bottle it had been poured from had been opened for a while. Even service was a bit off. I think we caught them at shift change as the handoff between our original server and the new one likely wasn't done resulting in us having to wait longer than we should've and finally having to flag a server down to pay our check. In the end, my experience was "A-OK", at best. However, given its strong reviews from others and high overall rating, maybe we caught L'Autre Petit Bois on an off day. Visiting Bordeaux as part of an organized tour, Yelped for help and found this Petitte Jewel. We went there for dinner, and ended sharing their small dishes as tapas. Extraordinary duck, and Egg-foie-gras cassuolet dishes. Very attentive waitress took care of us in Spanish. Excellent wine recommendations at great prices.
