This is fitting, however, because you do not pay separately for the concierge from the hotel. Our experiences with the reception, room service, and housekeeping were absolutely exceptional. Our room was also very nice, and we received a complimentary upgrade upon our arrival given it was our honeymoon, which was greatly appreciated and was made to feel very special.
Nonetheless, a notable part of the hotel's advertisement when booking is the availability of and assistance from the concierge. Our conversations with the concierge prior to arrival were generally useless, and we largely turned to our own research on Google and the use of AI to identify places we would like to eat and beach clubs we would like to go to and then asked the concierge to select from a list of 2-3 places because they were generally not helpful in regards to advice on selecting restaurants or experiences. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed this may have been a language barrier, but upon arriving at Le Yaca we learned that there was, indeed, no language barrier. The concierge speaks perfect English. To our unfortunate surprise, we found that this helplessness continued throughout our stay. With the exception of the beach clubs we found through our own research and had confirmed with Le Yaca, every recommendation provided by the Concierge was lackluster and disappointing, resulting in our spending over €300 on a CASUAL dinner for two that was, at best, below average quality. For example, when showing the staff a restaurant with nearly 5 stars on all review platforms, they insisted it wasn't special, seemingly because it was not in front of the yachts at the port. The restaurant they recommended instead had far worse food and was extremely overpriced. Furthermore, eating at this restaurant felt as if the concierge at an expensive hotel in NYC had recommended eating at a flashy pizza shop with neon lights in the middle of Times Square. I am not sure if they have deals with the local tourist traps that incentivize their recommending bad restaurants, but I would not be surprised to learn that this is the case. Additionally, we were only staying with Le Yaca for 4 nights, and the only two restaurants that we asked them to reserve for us did not end up having our reservations, because despite Le Yaca Concierge telling us they were confirmed, we were told by the restaurants that they had never been made.
The straw that broke the Camel's back for us and motivated our decision to leave a review is that the shuttles around St Tropez that are provided complementary by Le Yaca (and are generally of a very high quality in terms of driver customer service and cleanliness/quality of the car) turned out to be annoyingly unreliable. We left our final beach day to try and find our transfer from the beach club to the hotel and discovered that the car was not there. After contacting the concierge, they informed us that the car left us 20 minutes from the hotel because it had to wait more than 5 minutes. When paying $900/night for a hotel (and that's the price for a room at a lower tier than what we stayed in given the upgrade), I expect at least a call before I am left 20 minutes away from my hotel for not being within 5 minutes of the scheduled time.
Most bothersome is the fact that, given what we paid and our resultant expectation for the concierge services, we wasted multiple days and plenty of money while in St Tropez on experiences that were, in no uncertain terms, lackluster. Every single recommendation felt careless and provided with an arrogance that seemed like we were bothering the concierge by asking for a dinner recommendation. If we had stayed at a much cheaper hotel and looked for recommendations on our own and I am exceedingly confident that our entire time in St Tropez would have been unimaginably better. That is to say, if you are comfortable with completely ignoring and not relying on the concierge services and still paying the price listed for your room, then I would highly recommend staying at Le Yaca. If optimizing your time in St Tropez as part of the expense you are incurring in order to stay at Le Yaca is even remotely a consideration, I could not recommit against this hotel enough.
In short, if I could rate the hotel, reception, housekeeping, and room service staff and services, I would give them a solid 4.5 -5 stars out of 5. If I could rate just the concierge, I would give them a solid 1 - 1.5 out of 5. Considering it is impossible both to give separate ratings to these different services and to de bundle their cost, I arrived at a 3 star review, which I feel is generous. If I were to seriously account for the price and rate the hotel based on value (given our experiences with the concierge and the sense of elitism among the staff), I would likely offer a lower rating.
