3 1/2 stars.
I picked this hotel because of the great location next to a couple convenient metro stations, with plenty of restaurants and cafés in the area and a short walk to the Montparnasse train station.
I was also drawn by the Art Deco atmosphere of the hotel which I love.
The place is mostly fine, but my main complaint is that the hotel would need a bit of a renovation. Nothing is really bad, but some of the furniture is old, the overall vibe doesn't feel like a 3 star. It seems like they check the main marks required to be in that category (fridge, safe, kettle for coffee) but try to save on everything they can. No lotion or conditioner in the tiny bathroom, some of the lights pulsate for a while when switched on etc.
I know it's great to save energy, but the "minuterie" or timer in the hallways is just creepy, I had not seen that in Paris forever. Each time I left my room or the elevator, it was pitch dark for a few seconds, that made me uncomfortable.
My room was fine, I got one at the end of the building, with three windows, not big but not bad either by Paris standards. The problem was the tiny bathroom where it's impossible to shower without getting everything soaked (this could easily be fixed with a shower curtain!).
Even though the location is really convenient, I don't think I'll be going back. read more
