Most are…read moredorm type - with singles/doubles, and multiple bunk beds - and shared bathroom/shower in the hallways. But rooms are clean, and the shared facilities as well (the downstairs showers are supposed to be better). We had a small corner room with two windows, nice views of the idyllic green hilly surroundings, very bare with just a double bed and a sink (a plus as not all rooms have that). Bed is rather soft and the pillows are totally flat. Hotel's on a hill so climbing up the steps to this place is seriously strenuous, especially at the end of the hiking day. Wifi almost nonexistent, can't get any at all in our room. You are required to take your hiking boots off and leave them in a cavernous room with cubby holes as boots are not allowed inside, which is a huge hassle. There is a small restaurant, nice outdoor seating with good views of the scenic surroundings. For the group dinner everyone can get seconds. Homey and simple meal of puréed veggie soup, chicken (I got a drumstick, others got various other cuts) with fries and ratatouille, dessert a scoop of ice cream. Breakfast also pretty simple, but just one croissant each, too bad no seconds, as it was one of the best croissants so far.

She told me what time breakfast was, and I asked her to confirm we had breakfast included in our reservation. She checked, and we didn't. The she said: don't worry, I will add it to your rooms. Didn't mention any price, so I thought she was being nice and adding it for us. We all had breakfast the morning after, and when we went to do the check in, they charged us 90 francs for our breakfast (that's over $90 American dollars !!!) . I would never had spent this amount of money for a croissant and a machine made cappuccino like we all had at the hotel. Switzerland is the last place I thought something like this would happen :/

I discovered this place while writing a chapter for a guidebook on small inns. It does not look…read morelike much from the outside. But the rooms are museum pieces of old Swiss chalet life. Arolla pine walls and ceilings, featherbeds, antiques. And everywhere it all feels real. The family lives there and you will see the grandchildren running around. The views are naturally great. You can walk to the nearby botanical gardens or visit an underground Swiss artillery fort from ww2 just a few steps away. Down in the village is the lake with boats for hire and ski lifts. This is a simple old fashioned inn with excellent cooking of the bourgeois style by the owner and his wife. The guy has his own cows and shoots his own game. It is not at all pretentious but people from Geneva have made sure it is far from unknown. I ate there at Easter and there was no crowding at all. The restaurant is very simple, a large room with big glass windows for seeing the views. I have sent several friends here for romantic weekends and anniversaries and they all loved it, because it is unique. It is not for high maintenance types looking for a five star hotel. But in this day and age it is a revelation, to me, to find something so authentic and flat out charming. Rooms are small and each is different, most with balconies. They have put tv in the rooms now. Be warned that it is very simple. The owner is a big guy, rather shy and their daughter now takes a hand in running the inn. Check the prices but a room should run about 150 dollars, less than half what you pay in nearby Verbier

My son (2) loved the games room and we wished we had time to use the pool too. The ice rink was fabulous too. The little on site shop was well stocked and reasonable-and on our first night arranged a fondue for us to have in our room. As others have said, a bar would be nice-but wasn't essential for us. The staff really made our stay enjoyable-and were so helpful when there was an accident in the train tunnel and we were stuck on the other side! We would stay again.

Being hikers/backpackers on the TMB, we knew what it was beforehand and was worth what we paid. They give you cubbies to put your pack, and crocs to walk around in if you arrive in hiking boots which we did. Dinner was yellow curry chicken and rice (not spicy at all thank god, not a fan of spicy food). They turned our for breakfast, fresh bread, cold cuts, yogurt, apples+oranges, dried fruit, local jam, coffe/late/capucchino/espresso maker. Bathrooms were shared/coed, clean.
