Spent 5 nights here at a small town which we have visited several times in the past. Previously we have used Hotel Bristol (Not recommended) and Eurotel (Very good but was fully booked) , so we tried the 'Golf'.
Villars is primarily a ski-ing resort, but equally delightful in summer, with particularly plenty of scope for walking, which is what we do. (There is a train and a telecabin to higher ground). as on previous occasion we were there on Aug 1st, Swiss National Day, with lots of things going on, and a procession through the town. Alpine Horns, cows with bells, goats, musketeer demonstration etc, and an excellent firework display at night.
Anyway Im supposed to be reviewing the hotel. ! I am rating it 4 stars, though similar in quality to the Eurotel, its location is absoultely the best, right at one end of the main street, and near the mountain railway station.
The best rooms are the valley facing south side. The front ones may be a bit noisier from the main street, and dont have good views. Our room was clean and comfortable, staff polite and attentive, and the dinners (5 course table d'hote as we were on half board terms). The menus are published earlier int he day. If you opt out of eating in that day, they will credit you, or you have the option of eating a la Carte, in which case a partial credit is made. We will be back. read more
