This was our first Gelato stop in Italy! There was a line, so we trusted it to be good. It definitely was! Limon was my favorite flavor. The inside of the shop was tiny and cute. The lady scooping gelato was so friendly! Definitely try this one. read more

My favorite gelato in Lucca and I tried quite a few while living in Lucca for three months! The flavors are fresh and I LOVE that they vary them quite often even making up fun new flavors for the many events that take place in Lucca - like a Giro d'Italia flavor! The cones are also tasty and gluten-free! The owners are friendly and speak English which is helpful for those who don't speak Italian. Highly recomment! read more

Ice cream is good but the service is the worst the owner extremely rude, xenophobic and definitely a sad person that takes this frustrations in life at his customers. You can see every few good reviews someone complains about him being rube. What a pity it could be a great place, the owner is not smart enough to see that he destroys the atmosphere. read more

Oh my goodness, the gelato here is delicious!!! The flavors are unusual and all so wonderful, I had to go back multiple times to try all more than one flavor!!! And the service was friendly and helpful, very nice. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Trusted the yelp reviews and was deceived. Avoid. They were not generous with the portion and we were only allowed to sample one flavor. My gelato was not creamy nor satisfying. It tasted like a ball of sugar. read more

We had a wonderful experience visiting this gelato place! Delicious granita (our boys had the orange slushy), tasty and yummylicious gelato (we had coffee, the leopard and taste of the master) as well as an amarena cup which was decadent. Both female owner and staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend to try out when you are in Lucca! read more

Excellent gelato in the busiest part of Lucca. My husband and I shared a medium cup of pistachio and ricotta fig, and both were great. It wasn't the most memorable gelato we had on our trip, but the quality was top-notch. I definitely disagree with the Yelper who described it as a ball of sugar, because that is not at all the experience we had. Prices were surprisingly reasonable given how many tourists like us were swarming the store. The store itself is really cute, and there are some tables inside where you can stand and enjoy your gelato. It was the perfect moment of solace on an extremely hot day in June. read more

Authentic, delicious, and super friendly owner!! What a pleasant surprise finding this cozy, gorgeous store in Lucca. Not only the town is magical but the people are so friendly that make the whole experience very pleasant. For €2.5 you may get a medium size frozen yogurt (quite generous) with one topping. Strawberry and mix berries flavors available, although I asked for natural and it tastes delicious. For toppings you may add chocolate chips, cookies, muesli and/or coconut. Of course all gelato flavors are also available. Dark chocolate was amazing!!! Although next time I might give it a try to hazelnut or cheesecake. Yum yum!! Piccolo gelato is €2 and larger sizes are up to €4.5. Beware! Portions are quite generous and you may end up pampering your stomach with pure happiness. Enjoy!!! read more

On a late Wednesday night we were searching for the last gelato for my friends before their trip home. We finally found this open shop and went inside. My friends had been eating gelato daily and had a lot to compare with. This gelato was THE BEST!!! Super creamy with very intense flavors. But the most amazing part was the husband/wife team behind the counter, who were so incredibly warm and kind. It was a perfect way to finish the evening and the trip! read more

The gelato is fantastic! My husband loved it also. I am celiac and they are 100% GF so I could have a cone. Please don't ignore them because they are GF, as we do in the US. We think GF has to be bad. Not true. The place had a lot of people there for the Gelato. read more

In a town overflowing with gelato options where every gelateria claims to be artiginale, it takes a while to find the perfect place. One with intense flavors, generous portions, and friendly service all at a good price. Gelateria da Piero is THAT perfect place. An Italian husband and German wife team who make everything from scratch the same day. Just 2.80E for three flavors and right across the street there is the perfect sitting spot to watch the crowd go by along the side of a building. Try the ricotta with green fig. Service with a big friendly smile and, when uncrowded, time to chat awhile. read more
