I Latina is an excellent restaurant that I would recommend to everyone visiting or living in Argentina. The food consists of a 7 course fixed menu and every bite is delicious. The 7 course fixed menu also comes with a fixed wine pairing. My opinion is that all but one of the wines (white sparkling) were terrible. When you sit down at the beginning of the meal you have the option to buy a nice bottle of wine to go with your dinner or choose the wine pairing. I wanted the experience so I chose the wine pairing. Had I known what I know now I absolutely would have purchased one or two bottles of good wine from their menu and totally skipped the pairing. I was not impressed. While concept is a good one, and the dishes and (for the most part) service were generally good - not counting an unexplained excessively long wait for our coffee towards the end, nothing really stood out in terms of ambiance, creativity of food, or service. This is probably more salient considering we dined elsewhere in the city for comparable price but received much higher quality in all aspects. The menu is (if I remember correctly) 7 courses with an optional wine pairing with each course for 1000ARS additional. I was surprised when they didn't take away the used silverware with each dish, or even a couple of dishes in a row. Perhaps nitpicking, but I expected that at a fine dining restaurant. The decor is quaint-ish, with a somewhat open kitchen you can peer into from one side of the place, and colorful pictures of birds and people on the wall. Echoing what some of the other reviewers said, I definitely expected something way better than what we got, considering the price tag. Would not return or recommend since there are definitely other places with similar price but much better food and service. read more

4.5 Stars. Stunning evening. Made our reservation about one-week in advance, only the early seating was available. Seven-course vegetarian tasting that included an amuse bouche shooter, and five different mini-breads (be careful, these are really tasty and very filling). We skipped the wine pairing and opted for 3-glasses each (pairing would've been 5). The location is a bit out of the way, but upon arrival it's sort of like a Secret Garden. Amongst the dusty neighborhood, hides a beautiful stone washed lhome, filled with art and warmth. Each course was beautifully plated and tasty. A few notable mentions include the bocaditas spread that included an empanada, arepita, and bunuelo. The first course, a fabulous plate of aguachile with pineapple salted beetroot and fermented turnip was complex and exciting. The fourth course of Oaxacan mole was also mesmerizing. In-general, the meal would eb and flow. Not to say good or bad, more like heavy and bold followed by light and tangy and then back again. Different than the usual slow rise that reaches climax at dessert. And of course ended with a beautiful drip coffee (one of the best that I've ever had). One of the reviews called this a tourist trap, far from it. It's a world renowned restaurant where people from around the world would like to visit if they have a chance. Think of French Laundry (Napa / Yountville) or NOMA (Copenhagen), I'd be willing to gamble that the guests on a day-to-day basis aren't from the neighborhood. read more

Absolutely incredible dining experience in Buenos Aires - if you are debating whether or not to come, just make a reservation already. This meal blew my mind. Okay, so iLatina does a preset tasting menu with an optional wine pairing (it's *optional* but the wine pairing is done so exquisitely that the wine and food literally transform one another, so you'd be doing a disservice by not indulging in it) Yes, this meal is expensive, but it is worth every dollar/peso. This is a Colombian cuisine - don't come here expecting to have a parilla or Argentinian dining experience. That being said, they take some tremendous risks with their cuisine that delight the palate at every opportunity. I think it's clear, this was my favorite restaurant in Buenos Aires. This cocina latinoamericana run by chef Santiago Macías Acuña is an outstanding example of the fine dining experiences available in Argentina's cosmopolitan capital. With an excellent tasting menu that takes you on a seven course gastronomic journey from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego this is a must visit when in Buenos-Aires. We choose to include the wine pairings with our courses and we were so glad we did. While the pours were a bit on the light side the all Argentinian selections were terrific. The meal ended with a ceremonial coffee service at our table. All in all one of my favorite meals anywhere. read more

After two weeks in BA, I can say without a doubt, this was the best restaurant we ate at. My girlfriend and I are die-hard foodies. I like to cook and my girl is a food scientist. We mentioned this to the staff and they brought us to the back to meet the chef. They were genuinely interested in our passion for food and drink. We were told of i Latina by a guest at our Buenos Aires hotel. Being foodies in search of a unique Latin dining experience, we arranged for dinner at i Latina and were thoroughly pleased by the combination of service, culinary creativity and meal execution. All combined to put our evening at i Latina among our "best meals ever, anywhere". We opted for the Tasting Menu with the wine pairing. All courses were excellent, but the shredded lamb starter with coconut and cilantro and the ceviche preparation with octopus and leche de tigre unanimously stood out. While the food navigates the cuisine of multiple countries, the wines in the pairing highlight Argentina in particular and do so very well. They are well chosen, progress perfectly and provide an excellent opportunity to sample offerings that may not be readily found outside the country. Note though, these are not "sample size" pours. You'll need to self-moderate. On a final note, we did find that the restaurant was quite chilly. That may have been because of were we were seated and the host graciously adjusted the temperature on request but it did remain on the cool side. It may be a good idea to bring a sweater just in case. read more

Woow!! What a place! I don't think that anything I might write here will make justice to what was our dinner at this place. My husband and I booked it with very high expectations which all were met to precision from their amazing service to upscale food! We passed straight by the restaurant when we were on its street, it looks more like a house than a restaurant itself and even though you ring the bell for getting in it is not a puerta cerrada. Their whole team was incredibly attentive, really professional a nice to us all the time. Decoration deserves a star apart! Beautiful! You need to book it in advance, it's a 7 course menu and if you have any dietary restrictions like me tell them in advance. They perfectly adapted a vegetarian menu for me and I was absolutely blown away by each dish they served! Go HUNGRY! It's gonna be a lot of food, even though the plates are small, 7 courses are not for any ordinary person to finish all! I'm gonna be honest with you guys and say that I couldn't handle the desert, I tried literally a few bits of it. We had an awesome time there and would definitely come back on our next visit in BA. I don't know.... this is rated best place (although it is in the eyes of the tourist). The food was good, but I wouldn't say there was anything that I have a strong desire to return to. The sample menu is westernized Columbia Latin fare. Its good, and the prices are okay compared to prices in the states, but quite frankly, you can eat three amazing meals for the price of this place in BA. It was 950 pesos when I went there sept. 2015 but i'm sure that changes like everything else in BA. The atmosphere is dull at best. Half filled with other doe eyed tourists looking for the comfort of an English speaking waitstaff. It's cute on the inside and cozy, but it lacks the flavour I am seeing in so many other dining establishments. We didn't do the wine pairings as the price seemed ridiculous. We just went through a few bottles of wine that were of our own choice instead. I probably could have passed on half the menu and tripled up on Ceviche and Mojito sorbet. read more

My husband and I dined here last night. The building is gorgeous. We felt like we had stepped back into old Cuba. The interior was modern with colorful South American art. Paul greeted us and extended a warm welcome. We went with the seven course tasting menu and accompanying wines. At 2,700 pesos per person, this is fully priced in Buenos Aires!! Needless to say we expected an exceptional meal. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The first course was a ceviche and quite nice. Mine was spicier than my husband's so the smoked prawns and caramelized octopus were a little lost. The wine pairings were excellent. Without a vast knowledge of South American wines, this was a good chance to explore different grapes and regions. The sparkling wine, the Syrah and the Malbec were standouts. The staff was also very helpful in discussing each wine. The second course was a coconut cream based soup with seafood. The sweetbreads were next. This was a course that was a miss. The sweetbreads had no flavor. At this point in the meal, a more vegetable driven course would have been nice. There were none to be found. The fourth course was quail in an Oaxacan mole. A great mole is a work of art with layers of flavor, cocoa being one of them. Sadly, this one was predominantly chocolate and overpowered that the perfectly executed quail. The combination just did not work. The last savory course was a beef cheek in Columbian coffee. As with the quail, the beef was perfectly prepared. It just melted! But the word we kept coming back to was overpowered! The intense reduction of the coffee took over the marvelous flavor of the beef. The sixth course was our favorite, Cocoa truffle and nibs with sea salt and olive oil! It was perfect! The earthiness of the oil, the dark chocolate and little crystals of salt were all a compliment to each other. Dinner was good but not great. As billed, an amazing culinary journey of Latin America, from Mexico to Patagonia. The location was a bit off the beaten track, but easy to find. The staff was engaged. The wine pairing (largely Argentinian as hoped) was amazingly done. That said the staff took the extra time to make recommendations for me for my upcoming trip to Mendoza. This was well above and beyond. This type of attention to personal detail is what sets this restaurant apart from many other similar restaurants. Highly recommended!!! read more

I am very confused by the reviews. Though some dishes were enjoyable, the food was overall just okay, but did not AT ALL meet Michelin standards and was NOT worth the price we paid. We had a dry arepa (even the ones I make are more enjoyable) and an undercooked brussel sprout for one. However, the saddest part was the service. I have never seen such a complete lack charisma in waiters before... Apart from their dull attitudes, they were all clumsy to the point that cutlery was dropped twice, that they bumped their arm into my mum's head and they interrupted our conversation when presenting the dishes. Lastly, my mum asked for milk with her coffee (very flavourful but thin like piss), but had to to ask for it twice - which seemed to annoy the waiter - and only got it once the coffee was cold. I wish the waiters had at least seemed happy to see us. We were certainly very unhappy to pay that much for a disappointing and at times uncomfortable experience. Not to sound like a scam, but I recommend La Crizia before booking a table at I Latina - it has excellent food and service for a better price. read more

The multi-course tasting menu is plenty of food even for a hungry teenage boy AND the kitchen gracefully accommodated a vegan-pescatarian diner in our group. I was worried that seven courses would be too much food since I wasn't that hungry. But it was just right and somehow my daughter who was very hungry said the same thing. The food was good but pricey for around $130 per person with the wine pairing. I think you're paying more for the experience. When you get there, you ring the doorbell and someone let's you in through the wrought iron gates after verifying your reservation. We were concerned about being underdressed since all we packed for this trip are jeans and t-shirts but that didn't seem to bother the staff. The waiters were very attentive and always made sure they made eye contact (very key) to see if you need anything. You need not do more than a quick nod or a small gesture for them to approach and help. Never intrusive but always attentive. Excellent service. Food was good with some hits and one or two misses but still very enjoyable. read more

We are San Francisco foodies, but have never enjoyed a meal more than the one we had at I Latina. AND, we had been on planes for 15 hours! Arrived for our dinner reservation @ 9:00 p.m. and left @ 1:00 a.m.; couldn't believe we were still awake, but the place was still 1/2-full. Granted, it was our first night, and we were excited. But, the service, food, wine pairings, atmosphere (friendly, hip, casual elegance) were out of this world. Expensive, but totally worth it. We felt like we'd made new friends by the time we left (&, indeed, after hearing that we were heading to Mendoza & Uco Valley, one of the waitstaff emailed me recommendations as to his favorite wineries). Superb restaurant experience. From the time Edoardo greeted us at the gate until Francisco opened the gate for us to leave to the taxi they had summoned, it was beyond excellent. The food was inventive, increasingly intense, and well proportioned. We did the wine pairing but split it, which was an adequate amount of wine. Not really being a wine person, I am always cautious, but the wine was delicious and it correctly enhanced the food. The staff was unimaginably well-trained and a delight. SUCH a boring and mediocre place. Same applies to its food. 7-course menu that's nothing special, especially in a city with so many amazing options. When I consider that we paid AR$1000 here and AR$400 at Helena in the Four Seasons for so much better food and ambiance, I get nuts. Total bummer. Also, it's not a puertas cerradas. Simply one of the best meals I've ever had, period. All the food was sublime and the (mostly local) wine pairings were excellent. The service was also outstanding - friendly and informative without being in any way pretentious. We got to meet the chef at the end of the meal and could only congratulate him on the amazing taste and creativity of the dishes. One or two of the most memorable things were the bread, in particular the chocolate bread that somehow saved the chocolate taste until the very end of each mouthful, and the Peruvian seafood casserole with octopus, which was really delicious. The Ecuadorian cacao truffle with sea salt and olive oil was also highly original with a superb balance of flavors. Overall I cannot recommend this place highly enough - it is an absolute must for any foodie visiting Buenos Aires. read more
