I've brought my daughter here to get her hair braided a couple of times. It has been the same girl who has done her hair both times - she is kind and has done a nice job. The instructor was pleasant. Like one other reviewer mentioned, the wait can be a bit of an issue. The second visit, I signed my daughter in and was told there there would be an hour and a half wait. Ok - what can we do? We went to eat and waited. Came back and was told it would be ANOTHER 30 min. So, it was an over two hour wait just to be seen. That said, I do like how they do my daughter's hair and we will be back...just better prepared for the wait. read more

So, according to other reviews, not the place to go for color. Got it. My daughter has an Afro, yes a big bushy 70's Afro. I brought her here because I'm tired of paying $50-$60 only for her to have a straight puffy Afro that looks like a lions mane after being flat ironed or blow dryed. We came on a weekday morning so there was no wait at all. The student took her time (1.5 hours) to blow out and flat iron her hair. For only $13 it turned out really nice. We got a way better result here then at any regular salon which is way more expensive. The only downside was that it was very time consuming. I will definitely be bringing her back so that the future hairdressers of El Paso can get more experience with ethnic hair. read more

It's a beauty school and I have never had any service done at one until last month. I have dark hair and have just gotten really tired of doing the root touch ups myself. I went for a full head color, special at half price, and was pleased with the service. I just refuse to pay an exorbitant amount at a prestige salon for color I can buy in a bottle. I used to go to one on the west side and would always walk out with hair color on my skin and I'm paying upwards of $100 for that? I don't think so. The atmosphere is good and I recommend ITS for service like mine. read more

Absolutely horrid service. Im from LA originally and Ive had my hair done plenty of times at beauty schools. It's a great way to save on cost while having your hair done by up and coming talent. I figured it would be the same in El Paso. WRONG. The night before a very important Army function I went in to have my naturally ash blonde hair highlight's touched up. They turned my hair into an orange, copper, fried disaster. The girl doing my hair was a doll. Really sweet and knew what she was doing, but the instructor hag on the floor yelled at her multiple times and told her to do something that she knew wouldnt fly with my hair. Long story short they messed it up so badly I was there 6 hours. AND THEN STILL CHARGED ME. The next day I had to go to a legit salon and have it color corrected and fixed which cost me 150 dollars. They were rude, they spoke all kinds of crap in Spanish (My husband is Mexican and Im from LA.. Wrong white girl to talk crap in Spanish around)... All in all a horrible experience. The school's headmaster called two days later and I stuck up for the student tooth and nail and let the instructor have it on speaker. Avoid getting your hair done here. Not because the students suck, but because the instructors are horrible. read more

I Understand it is a School and most people get discouraged by this fact. Not all students are the same I have been here about three times and the third time I finally found someone to help me cut my hair the way I wanted. This is important because you want someone to see the vision you have and be able to make you happy with your request. I did fear I would have one of these experiences were I would leave crying and with regret. I found Sam he is very attentive and his suggestions are very good, also polite and wont waste his time talking all sorts of foolish things. I had shoulder length hair a week ago, I went in and had clippers in my hair cut it very short. This was scary to think of getting it wrong. Sam he was very understanding and did a great job. My two year old son also enjoys getting his hair cut by this student he is not rough, not rude with my son unlike other places were they like to spray two year old children with water in the face and make them hate hair cuts. This is also the first time my toddler will sit by himself and be fine till the end of the haircut. read more

Terrible place to have your hair done. I realize this beauty school is an inexpensive way to get your hair done but this place is not worth it! I had a very similar experience to what the other reviewer (Ashley) had. I went in to have my hair colored and highlighted. The student working on my hair was very pleasant and my color went beautifully. My highlights on the other hand were a nightmare. They should have been blonde but turned out to be green instead! The instructor (a very old woman) panicked and added some sort of red toner to my hair. What was supposed to be a light ash brown color with light highlights turned out to be a big red mess! My hair is so damaged that other salons won't even attempt to fix it! The instructor was very unsupportive and just said she hoped I liked red! On top of that they charged me $100 and will not refund my money. My advise is to spend a little more money and go to a regular salon. read more

This school/company is awful! They ve held my hours for the past six months, unwilling to release the hours my loans covered because they said I owed them for the remaining 499 hours I didn t clock at their school. While I attended, they used and abuse me and the other students. I took almost 6-8 clients every day once I got to the third phase. I stopped learning new skills and hated every day at that school. The supplies I paid for always broke, the school was practically falling apart every day, I got written and sent up for going to lunch instead of taking a client that would ve taken me 4-5 hours to do. I hadn t taken a break all day. Our hours were constantly wrong and adjusted, whenever we needed help or had a question, we could never find an instructor because they were always on break out front smoking a cigarette. I dropped out because I knew I wasn t getting the proper education that I paid for and they never gave me exit counseling and they never told me I owed them money until I tried to sign up for my practical. This is an awful school to attend. All they want is your money. They don t care about the education. The students are just their paychecks. I've seen these students/ instructors destroy customers' hair and not give a crap about it. These people could care less if students get the proper education or even clock their hours. They adjusted our hours so much, we never knew if it was right or wrong! It took the students almost walking out altogether one day for the owner, Jerry Johnson, to come and talk to us. No one would pay attention to our complaints or change anything no matter how much we complained. We stopped learning when we got to phase three and became the slaves of ITS. All we did was wet set after wet set and we stopped getting floor classes or new techniques on how to cut or color hair. This school doesn't care what happens to you. When Jerry Johnson finally came to visit our school to "fix" the problems, he found that the majority of the students' hours were off....way off. There was a girl who had 100 hours worth of school missing. That's almost a whole month unaccounted for. Do your research before signing up for this school. There are better options and they will screw you over. read more
