The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything you need. The gentleman who checked me in told me about the Red Cross Museum very close to the United Nations. It was moderately priced making it an ideal choice as a base to experience Geneva during our short 2-night stay. And a short stay you will have as you can easily experience what Geneva has to offer in one full day. The rooms were nicely furnished with an old world charm, were air-conditioned, and beds comfortable for 2 friends to share. Desk staff were super friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood has its "rougher" parts, especially with brothel occupied Rue de Berne *ahem*, though I never felt leery/ unsafe, more so intrigued, really ;). The easy walk to Geneva Lake and Paquis de Buvette was much convenient, on the other hand. It was a short stroll to reach Old Town as well. Perhaps my feedback would be that the AC and mini bar fridge could have been colder, but my American butt be so high maintenance, therefore they are minor gripes. Super helpful to have a link sent prior to our visit to acquire the free public transit pass for tourists. It allowed us to hop on one of the many trains leaving from the station at the airport to Geneva train station.

This trigger the memories of reading some of the Tintin novels. I then remembered this is the very hotel Tintin stayed at in the book: The Calculus Affair.  This is the favorite hotel of Professor Calculus whenever he stays in Geneva. I went into this hotel once to check out the Tintin merchandise that was sold here at one time. The hotel had large poster of Tintin in the window. Does anyone remember that? I saw different bowels and plates that were sold in a 7 part series at a souvenir shop. I saw the 6th in the series and a few of the others in the series. I did have much money since I just finished high and was starting spring semester in college soon. Otherwise I would have bought some. Nevertheless, my mom and maybe with my dad went to this hotel too. My mom presented me with 7th bowl and plate in the series. It is one of the most memorable gifts I own since my mom passed away. I still own the bowl, but the plate I suspect was broken by a family member (who will remain nameless) who won't admit to anything wrong doing he does:( The plate is gone and so is he as far as living with us, so it all works out:) Still the bowl will always remind me of this hotel, my mom and the time I spent in Geneva Switzerland. Should I ever revisit Geneva Switzerland, I will want to stay here at this hotel with my wife. I just got off the phone with one of the employees. There seems to be a very small place to get some souvenirs, but a majority of the souvenirs/gifts will be better spent a shop/mall. Still, I am glad to have owned one of the Tintin Bowls and Plates in French hand writing while this Hotel had its Tintin promotion going. It's been updated on the inside and features everything you'd expect for a hotel in this price range. Checking in and out is easy thanks to good customer service. Staff is friendly and explains everything you need to know. Rooms are clean, new, and comfortable, and the free WiFi is fast. Best of all is the location. You're close to several shops, restaurants, and anything else you're looking for as a tourist. And best of all, you are literally just steps from the closest train station and 10 minutes from the airport. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend anyone else the same.

It was quite easy to find from the railway station - we used the map from the website, and also noticed one or two signposts along the way. I think the walk took about five minutes. The hotel is in a slightly run down area of the city. There was a cafe across the road, and a chinese restaurant next door. Next door but one was a karaoke bar - though we didn't actually hear anything from this. Breakfast was not included in the price we paid, CHF 134 for a double room, as we felt that an extra CHF 14 (about £6.50) each for a cold buffet was expensive. The room was alright, nothing special. It had two single beds pushed together, and a small ensuite shower room. It was all clean. As we only stayed one night I couldn't say how often towels and bedding are changed. We were able to borrow a hairdryer from reception, and shower gels, soaps etc were supplied in sachets in the shower room. Everyone on the staff, that we came in contact with, spoke good English, and was helpful. They were happy for us to leave our bags behind the reception desk in the morning once we had checked out while we went out for a walk around Geneva. It didn't take long to reach the lake, and shopping areas of the city.

I did have a difficult time with one of the concierge online when I had a question about fitting in a child's cot in the room. We were only there for one night and I didn't want to spend $500 on the family room when we were only there to sleep. This place is a little difficult to figure out how to get to from the airport, so we just walked instead of trying to find a tram or a train to take us here. The walk was about 1 mile and we didn't mind it. However, take the wrong turn and you'll end up on the Red Light district with prostitutes so be careful. Once we arrived, the concierge was really nice, though he had a hard time getting our room key to work and our check-in took about a half hour. Once we were upstairs in our room, it was all good. When I tried booking it over the phone, the person, I think her name was Sandrine, told me that the room was too tiny and wouldn't fit a family of 4, but I beg to differ, it was a standard size hotel room and even with the kids' cot in it, it was comfortable. Our bed had lights underneath it, there was an LED mood lighting that you can change. The tv offers music as well as tv for you to watch and everything was functioning from the tv itself. The bed was really comfortable and as you know, in Europe the beds are tiny, so ours was just two full size beds put together, but it wasn't too bad overall. The bar closes at midnight so we were bummed about that. Overall, not a bad place to stay.

Check in was seamless and easy and our double and twin (upgraded) room was ready when we arrived around 1 pm which was a nice touch. Dark wood decor throughout with a balcony. Safe was available as well a Mini Bar. Robes and slippers were provided. There is a restaurant and breakfast/Brunch was available. Although we didn't eat here, the restaurant was full during meal times. Two person elevator that is from another era but still worked and got the job done. The Fitness room/Spa area had Modern decor and is the part of the hotel that has been updated. A rare, both Steam and Dry Sauna rooms (2-3 people max capability) are included with an inviting relax area that was always kept clean and organized. An Amazing Wine Bar (La Tenuta)) and coffee shop (Christie's) just steps away and 15 minutes walk from the City Center. Yasside and the team took good care of us and gave us some great recommendations and tips. Extra star for their service minded and engaged approach. We will be back!

When we saw our room we noticed our bed was a bit too small for two people, so we called the front desk and they immediately upgraded us and brought us new keys to our room.
