I was helping an old friend to renovate her 1960's home. I was not living in her area and did not know any contractors in her area. I connected with IC Home Design and the owner Horia. The first job was to take down and rebuild a very old worn out deck. The job completed on time and at the price quote. The craftsmenship was impressive. I then added the ronovation of a shed used for gardening supplies. Again the workmanship and finished product was outstanding. By this point I was completely confident in the quality of work done by IC Home Design. Next was taking up an old kitchen floor with several of flooring including old 4 x4 tile. IC Home Design quickly removed flooring and prepared the surface for new wall to wall tile which he also installed. I wanted the new kitchen cabinets to sit on the new tile. Ultimately he installed the new cabinets and finished off the kitchen install including new appliances, replacing a window with rotted wood and adding some additional electrical outlets. Next up IC Homes completely updated a secondary bathroom and then total renovated the master bathroom. Later IC Home found a floor refinisher to sand down the original hardwood floors and stain the floors which looked like new when he finished. All this activity took place while my eldery friend was still living in the home. Horia was very considerate of her living in the midst of all this mayhem and did little things to help her manage her way thorugh it all. I can't speak highly enough of the the quality of work done by Horia and his company I C Home Design. He is a true craftsemen who is a finished carpenter and knows how home construction should be done. His background includes new home construction and several cerifications that are important to home renovations. He is always a gentleman and a thoughful person. i you are looking for the extra low prices IC Home Design probably is not your contractor but if you want work that you can be proud of Horia and IC Home Design is a wonderful contractor to chose for your projects. read more

Horia is a great guy to work with and very respectable. He took off his shoes when he entered our home and treated our dog as if she were his own! From the start to end we were very impressed with him. Horia was very professional, provided us fair estimates and communicated with us on a regular basis. He did an excellent job adding a backsplash to our kitchen and installing our over the oven microwave. He is a general contractor and is very knowledgeable in the field. My wife and I are first time homebuyers. Having heard more than our share of horror stories about unscrupulous contractors, we did plenty of research before deciding to go with Horia and IC Home Design. We couldn't be happier with our choice! Horia is the exact opposite of every negative depiction: honest, dependable, professional, and understanding. Amongst other things, Horia remodeled all four bathrooms in our home, installed new flooring and windows in the lower level, painted the entire interior of the house and put in new lighting throughout. And he did this all with great skill, patience, and attention to detail. From the start, we found Horia to be incredibly responsive and easy to work with. He assisted us with the selection of materials and fixtures - even meeting us at Home Depot on a Sunday afternoon. He also provided plenty of helpful (and cost-saving) suggestions and tips that had not occurred to us. Being as we had not yet moved into the house and were living out of state while the work was taking place, we really appreciated how communicative and accessible Horia made himself at all times. We would receive text updates, pictures, and videos almost daily. If ever a problem arose, it was disclosed to us immediately. No surprises or hidden issues. Horia was also very sensitive to our needs and preferences. He complied with our wishes even if it meant added work or posed other challenges. He also worked overtime to ensure the job was complete for our move-in date - staying late on nights and weekends when necessary. Additionally, even after the primary work was completed and we had moved in, Horia remained on call to help us with many smaller items around the house. He made sure every last item was crossed off of our wish list before signing off. While all of the above should justify a premium, Horia's prices were quite reasonable. His final invoices were always in line with his initial estimates, and they all compared favorably with other quotes we had received. A word about trust: We had agreed to pay for Horia to remove paneling in a large rec area that would be converted to a playroom for our son, and to install sheet rock there instead. Horia removed the paneling and discovered sheet rock underneath, which was still in fine condition. Though he easily could have charged us for the work and we never would have known, he told us what he had uncovered and then removed this significant line item from our bill. We were so impressed with his honesty and integrity! Horia takes great pride in his work and has a genuine passion for home improvement. Awesome CONTRACTOR!! We can't say enough great things about Horia (this includes my husband who is never impressed by ANYBODY:) Horia has been a great partner in remodeling our condo. He gives fair quotes, makes sensible observations that save us time & money, and executes projects quickly, tidily, beautifully. After we met Horia, we even chose to work with him for our second project, for which we had a slightly lower bid. (Having been burned by other less professional contractors, we figured it was worth it to work with a discerning pro). Ironically, I think he saved us money for *that* project in the end too, by suggesting a better hardwood supplier & providing a couple of finishing touches without extra charges. Admittedly, there's part of us that wants Horia to be our secret remodeling-guru (not done yet). But he's just too good of a guy not to recommend him. We were very happy with the quality of work and the price. We acted as our own general contractor, scheduling things and picking materials (to save money), but other than that, he did everything but some painting, the wood floors, granite, and the cabinets. He completely remodeled two bathrooms and the kitchen, as well as did a lot of random electrical, painting, tiling, some marble, and replaced the interior doors. We had no problem with his work passing inspections. Our original plan was to have him do the bathrooms and have the "fancy kitchen store" do the kitchen. But when the bathrooms were done very nicely (we did those first) and his quote for the kitchen came in about $5K less than the fancy kitchen store, we chose him to do the kitchen, including demolition, the wall for the island, electrical and lighting, gas, plumbing, drywall, backsplash tile, appliance install, and painting (we'd already ordered the cabinets). His quote for the demolition even came in slightly lower than the sketchy unlicenced guys a friend recommended. We added a lot of side projects as we went, including the entryway tile, replacing all the doors, track lighting, and adding an electrical circuit for the computer room. The thing my wife and I were most happy about was that he does most of the work himself and was supervising when he had an assistant. I think this really helps the quality. Our experience with some other contractors is that they would come for the quote, but when the job actually came they would drop off their "team" of workers and leave. Other nice things: he returns phone calls promptly (if you've dealt with as many contractors as we did, this is a big deal). He was consistently on-time and worked well with our schedule, even working weekends and very late some nights. Once his painter couldn't make it, and he actually painted most of the family room himself. He doesn't have too many overlapping jobs (one common reason for delays). He was honest about telling us about mistakes and would fix them quickly. We will definitely use him again if we have more work, and have already recommended him to some of our friends. read more

Horia came and visited my home about 3 months ago and noticed that some of the windows had air leaks. This observation reinforced the fact that one of my bedrooms felt colder and "draftier" in the winter months. He diagnosed that the windows' borders were not properly insulated. So we scheduled a time for him to come by and treat the windows. He advised me to pick up a can of insulating foam spray at a hardware store before his next visit. On the day of service Horia came on time, as promised. He opened up the trims of my retrofit Milgard brand double pane windows and sprayed in insulating foam. He found out that only the bottom of the windows needed the foam, and therefore we didn't have to waste time opening up the rest of the trim boarders. After treating the 6th of 6 windows in my home, Horia also spent a few minutes treating the bathroom tub's caulking; the tub lining's caulking had some mildew and discoloration. He surprised me because we didn't talk about this area, and told me that this extra work was free of charge. I am very pleased with the results. He is environmentally conscious, hard working, and cleans up after the job. read more

Horia came highly recommended by some friends and he exceeded our expectations. He was always on time and was great about communicating with us. His estimate was very reasonable and he offered some suggestions that we hadn't thought of, and they made a huge difference. Horia did several things in our condo. He painted all of our condo, changed light fixtures, the bathroom vanity, mirrors, a toilet, changed the bathroom hardware, added pendant lights and recessed lights, and did tile work. He was always treated our house as if it were his. He has great design taste. We are highly recommending him to all of our friends. This is the second time I have used IC Home Designs and the work and service is consistently superior. The first job was the installation and operation of a new boiler system which heats our home. This is a complex task involving gas, plumbing, and electrical. I received a prompt call back and an estimate was done in a timely manner with options on how to reduce cost. This is after going through 8 contractors who had attitude and outrageous prices with 0 customer service skills. The work was completed quickly and even when some complications arose, they were handled at no extra cost. The second project which was just completed was the installation of a new water heater. Ours was over 10 years old and cracked. I woke up to this unpleasant surprise Friday morning. After drinking my coffee, I called Horia at IC and he remembered me right away and began the process that day with looking for the best water heater for our needs and budget. He will not sell you overpriced units or parts and knows what is needed for a project. He came over the next day (Saturday) at 8:30 and had the unit installed and working in no time. He cleans up after his work and even fixed our leaky sink and pipes in the bathroom at no charge. Horia is a highly skilled contractor and is a great and honest guy who will go out of his way to help you get your problems solved. I highly recommend him. read more

We were renting a townhome that had some terrible issues in our kitchen. I found Horia through Yelp and wondered, could anybody be this good? The answer is YES! He worked magic in the kitchen. He as efficient, cleaned up perfectly after the work and made a magnificent kitchen from an absolute mess. He worked quickly, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I pulled several different estimates and found Horia to be knowledgeable, courteous and very punctual. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. I'd give Horia and his crew 10 stars if I could. We came across Horia's profile on Yelp. We were undertaking a pretty large home remodeling project and having just moved to the area, didnt have too many references; hence relied on Yelp. Horia's attential to detail was apparent from the very first time he met us. As we walked him through the house, he made us aware of all the risks and all the options. Once he took on the project, he worked round the clock, working through weekends to complete the job on time. He went the extra mile on several occasions, helping us pickup parts, arriving after hours to clear our equipment so other contractors could work, managing the inspections etc. All aspects of the job - the electrical fittings, the structural changes with breaking down walls, the finish, the woodwork, the paint - was top notch. We hired IC Home Design to install pocket doors for us. We had other quotes, but the quote from IC Home Design was the only one that included all of the information we had specified for the bid. We were so impressed with the attention to detail and care he and his team gave to this project that we hired them to install hardwood floors in the upstairs of our house, repaint 2 rooms and some closets, redo some electrical throughout the house, install a closet organizing system, and install a range. We kept thinking of more things we wanted them to do. Having a competent team to handle things for you that is reasonably priced definitely means you end up wanting them to complete more projects for you! We even had them redo some lighting in our kitchen that had been annoying us for years. It was affordable and completely opened up the way the kitchen looks. Much easier than a complete remodel, since the kitchen is in pretty good shape already. Horia listens to ideas and has suggestions about how to do things with a reasonable price. They were always careful in our home, which we appreciate, and it is definitely much nicer looking since they completed their work here. We highly recommend Horia and IC Home Design. read more

We had Horia come to our condo unit to provide us an estimate to renovate our master and half bathrooms. Later that night Horia sent me an estimate on the cost of renovation. After discussing with my wife we hired Horia to handle our project. Through out the entire project Horia was great. He was meticulous, always on time and trustworthy. Most of the work is done by Horia and when it was time to do the master bath there was one helper which was also great. He also took time on the weekends; on days off to meet with me to go to showrooms to pick out the material and let us know what would and would not work for our bathroom. At the end of each day Horia would let us know what time he will be by the next day. He was always on time and set certain initiatives he plans to work on for that day. At the end of the day, he is very meticulous on cleaning up his work. Knowing we have a 17 month old daughter he makes sure there are no debris left from his work that can harm our child. Horia made my wife and daughter very comfortable as they were home when Horia came to work. Also knowing my daughter takes naps he plan accordingly to keep the noise down as much as possible. We really appreciate that of Horia. Horia is very trustworthy and honest and many instances will let us know how we can save money on certain materials. After performing and the completion of our project there is no one else we trust more than IC Home Design and Horia. We plan to have IC Home Design / Horia to do all of our future projects.
