Booked our tour online. Got an email night before informing us the time had been changed and although I paid online I still owed them for an apparent fuel charge that wasn't in the original fee. In the end $97.?? Per person. Get there to discover the included us with a bus tour of over 84 people. Once aboard the Captain said the earlier tour did not see any whales or icebergs and there was a significant wind causing fairly high waves which prevented us from going to the wide open ocean. We spent the next 2 hours looking at the ocean cliffs. 1 sight of an eagle so far away it could have been a seagull. Seen plenty of seagulls though. Then there was a sing along with 1 staff trying to cover for the fact none of observed anything anywhere near what we paid$97 for. The company should have informed people that he would not be able to provide any sights of whales,birds,icebergs. Cancelled trip. Rebooked for another day but they didnt. In my opinion they made no effort to provide us the service they so brag about. there are other places that provide the same opportunity....I suggest try them! read more

My husband and I were the only two signed up for the morning boat tour so it wasn't enough to head out. A bit deflated (we came all this way to see icebergs and get on the water), Carol Ann, one of the owners was so kind and very helpful, she was trying to figure out the best solution for us and suggested the Zodiac tour, which needs less people and made sure we'd get out to see iceberg while we were in town. She was so personable and asked more about our stay and as soon as she and her husband, Captain and owner Barry Rogers, found out we were on our honeymoon they took us out without waiting for a minimum passenger count! We did end up going out on the boat with two of the Canvas Cove Bistro staff, Paul and Jules, which only made it better because they are awesome! The tour was the BEST time to say the least! We got up close with a massive iceberg and even fished some iceberg chunks out! The whole day was the best day of our honeymoon thanks to this amazing crew, they absolutely went above and beyond and made our trip so wonderful! Huge thanks to all of them! Highly recommend the Zodiac tour, but if not that then for sure any of their other tours will be just as wonderful! read more

How often do you get to go on a boat near the Arctic Circle to look for Icebergs and Humpback whales? I'll venture to say not very often. The drive to Twillingate is like a drive back in time. Pristine farm houses dot the northern NewFoundland landscape. You can definitely tell that you aren't near a metropolis. We only saw about 10 cars pass us in the hour before we got to the town. The town itself is very quaint...A Mayberry of Canada. After we paid our boat fee, Rick welcomed us aboard in his Canadian brogue. His knowledge of the bay was incredible and his stories about the town's history was fascinating. On the tour, we saw two bald eagles and 4 whales along with a couple of seals. Apparently, liberals were right about global warming because all of the icebergs had either melted or hadn't yet reached that part of the island or maybe it was just summer. After our two hour tour, we returned back to the port, a little smarter about cold weather maritime operations and also more appreciative of the beauty that exists in NF. This place deserves 5 stars for it's service but I downgraded it one star because I felt cheated that we didn't actually see an iceberg and therefore we failed our quest. read more

Iceberg Quest - The beautiful and quaint town of Twillingate - Boat Tours Near Me - Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador

I was really disappointed by how two-faced they were. Here's the context: My friend and I had full meals with a couple drinks. We explicitly told the employees that my friend was driving, NOT me. We repeated that after the 2nd drink order, so they definitely knew. Regardless, they cut ME off (not my friend, who didn't want any more because she was driving) after 2 drinks. I'm from NYC and relatively the drinks here are not so strong, so I was a little disappointed. No big deal but my issue was they acted totally normal after they cut ME off (knowing that my friend, who was driving, had 1 drink + a couple sips of another that I finished, over the span of HOURS). However, after we left, they called the cops (!!!) to pull us over on the road. The policeman verified that they were the ones who called. My friend, who had literally barely over 1 drink more than 1.5 hours before we even left, just explained everything to the policeman and was fine because she was obviously sober by that point. But here's my issue: If this establishment had an issue with her driving, then why wouldn't they say something BEFORE we left? If they were really that concerned then why wouldn't they talk to us transparently before we got in a car? And why would they extrapolate MY drinking? A passenger's intake has nothing to do with the driver's. And if they had evaluated my behavior they would have seen that I was tipsy at most. Instead they just assumed based on me having 2-ish drinks (which can affect people different ways). Being concerned about drunk driving is great, but this was NOT the way to handle it. The worst part is they were friendly to our faces but then called the cops and were very deceptive: They even had the front desk guy pretend that he was into cars--asking what kind of car we were driving (once the cop stopped us we realized the front desk guy literally lied to us by saying he was "into cars," pretending to just be friendly so he could describe our car to the cops). Obviously they don't care about transparency, honesty, or communication. A shame, considering that otherwise this neighborhood is fantastic. I would recommend another company for the iceberg tours. They don't think logically or critically at this company. If we had been wasted, it would be another story, but 2 drinks for the passenger and less than 2 for the driver over a long period of time? Ridiculous. read more
